Is Callista playing favorites between Olivia and Kane? She tells Olivia that they will come for her, but she doesn't say anything to Kane or mention that he will suffer. What kind of parent doesn't tell their child that they will face challenges or try to toughen them up? A parent should at least explain why and how to overcome difficulties. Callista never told Kane anything.

Kane, who stayed true to himself (i.e. didn't want to be humiliated), doesn't suffer, but instead makes great strides and, by the standards of in-game time, becomes K9 in less than a week. As for why Callista didn't tell Kane everything, that was one of Gambit's key conditions. Kane already looks like the chosen one (on the Dom route), so any necessary information coming to him is carefully dosed. Even the Karlsson sisters are essentially bound by the rules of Gambit and can't tell Kane everything at once.
Imo, this is done on purpose to, first, test Kane on certain qualities of his character, such as tenacity, cunning, savvy, flexible mind, etc., necessary to manage the company and the people. And at the same time, the smooth disclosure of information does not give Kane a sense of
false superiority or advantage. After all, to own a company and Karlsson sisters, you have to prove yourself worthy of it.
But to make a long story short, it's one of Gambit's conditions that all of the Karlsson sisters, even the most obnoxious ones, try to adhere to. In season one, Alessandra (the scene of Kane and Olivia's first meeting) tells Kane that it was a condition of Alexander Karlsson herself.
And that's why Kane, with his unique blood and elite parents, starts his journey not with a golden spoon in his ass, like Olivia, who gets all the privileges from the start, but almost from scratch, gradually proving to everyone that he is worthy to occupy the “shining power throne”.
Of course, an invisible question hangs in the air, and what about
sub Kane, who stumbled, succumbed to a moment of weakness in prison and thus condemned himself to “voluntary” slavery (albeit with the prospect in the future to become something like a servant or even an assistant to one of his future owners)? This is probably a question that can be answered by someone who plays this route and knows all its nuances well. I have my own version of the answer to this question, but I don't want to reignite the old Dom vs Sub debate, which will lead nowhere anyway.
Yes, we're going to need a thorough heart-to-heart with Callista anyway, and I think this son-mother meeting will answer most of the questions. For now, all we know is that Callista had no choice and did the only thing she could...At least that's the game reality.
