Am I the only one who gets errors whenever I try to load 0.82B final saves? I do not have any on the last screen where Tess tells us to save, but shouldn't saves from the last few scenes in the previous update also work? I already searched the thread but nobody seems to be talking about saves since 2024.

So, does nobody know how to troubleshoot this game? For the record, I went back to the 0.8.2 finalB version of the game, played all the way to the screen that tells you to save, saved there on 2 separate runs. copied those save files into 0.8.31 TestB's saves folder, and these also just give error messages without loading! Here is the traceback report ren'py gave me:

If Kane is on a sub path (eg K4) and has saved Maria, there is now a new romantic event with option to romance Veronica :

$ veronicasubsponsor = True
$ veronicasubromanceopen = True

Did you consider that ren'py games have 2 save locations and that Tess did not change the name of the folder in AppData for the test? This may cause problems if you switch between different versions who all use the same AppData folder.

Save Locations :
1. in the game folder, eg ...\KarlssonsGambit-0.8.31TestB-pc\game\saves
2. in AppData :
path : C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\RenPy\Tess_is_wonderful

I actually renamed my v0.8.2b Tess_is_wonderful folder before playing the test version to not corrupt it.

Try clicking start instead of load. The playthrus from season 1 are persistent data files. You will end up playing some of season 2 over again, but it sounds like that may be your only option.

Don't know if you want to put in so much effort, but the best way is probs use the sancho mod for season 1 which automatically collects saves for season 2 and remove the mod once you hit chapter 2.

Interesting. It means, when the time comes K1 kane will be saved by the sponsorship mistress or veronica, otherwise murdered.

You mean do it all again? Cause I have used Sancho mod for season 1 for all of my 3 runs (2 sub ones with different sposors + 1 secret sub) and I have saves from the end of the last update, not from season 1, and it is those saves that don't load in the new test version...

Thanks for the answer! I just copied my old saves (from a different PC) into the "saves" folder inside the game, so I will try the AppData ren'py path as well and update this post if it worked. (or didn't) Thanks for the suggestion anyway!

EDIT: I'm still getting a very long error message even if I put the saves in the app data Tess_is_wonderful folder - this is the traceback:

I can't tell from any of this what the issue is - most of them seem to be "event" related errors... Could it be that it's bc I used a mod in 0.8.2B Final? Sancho mod is no longer around ofc, but I think I used a similar more basic mod when I played the last version. (that tells you what values a choice affects and so on) Did any of you guys use a mod on the previous version and, if so, did you have to do something to make the saves portable to this one?

EDIT 2: Was there any mod for the last version, or do I misremember? I might just give up, import the season 1 saves again and skip scenes for about an hour or so, but I wanted to avoid that as I changed my laptop since the last update and the old one is slow and kinda broken, so it's a hassle to boot it up and copy more saves

(that tells you what values a choice affects and so on) Did any of you guys use a mod on the previous version and, if so, did you have to do something to make the saves portable to this one?

If you used Steely's mod for 8.1/2....then you will not be able to continue until he updates it (which he most likely won't until the full release is out).

This is the same for 98% of WT mods out there, you have to wait for the updated mod (same version as game) until you can continue.

I realized one thing that I havent seen is Juliette scheming. Other than her scheme of teaming with dom on sub kane ( which was dom's idea). Her whole plan has been to just show Kane how much fun it is being around her. All the other non veronica sisters are scheming and Juliette's apparently too wrapped up in being evil.

I would suggest to just start over using your Season 1 transfer files ...
Use "Skip (un)seen Text" (options, CTRL-key) to rush through known E8.1 and E8.2 content.
Do not bother too much with variables like sponsors ... it will likely take more years to get to a point where such variables will matter.

I guess your main goal is to see the new content, so you can just play as you like without aiming for perfection. You likely won't keep the E8.3.1.test save games anyway and replay E8.3.1 content with the final version and official walkthrough.

Yeah that thing with dehydrated man also quite evil. And regarding veronica, yeah she is not a good person, that's for sure. Some like Stan5851 say she is good, lot say she is pragmatic. And guys like me consider her as evil (with chances of redemption as STACY). One thing with veronica is, no matter her personal views or flashback with MC, She wants stability of the company and business to run, that means to support co-existence of fellow sisters as long as gambit and island4 events are finished. That's why she turns blind eye to juli things and invests in alessandra evil sadism.

All main characters doing their schemes, all have plans. All have some amount of inside information on what the fuck is happening behind the screen. If anyone there who is oblivious to all these, just trying to survive and fuck some girls alongside is Dumb Kane.

Rather than evil I think you're supposed to see Veronica as a superhuman alien intelligence who wants to do the Greater Good™ so any seemingly evil deeds she does - including collaborating or maintaining the peace with her evil sisters - such as delivering the couple to Alessandra are waved away as having been calculated to the smallest % probability as necessary to reach the greater good/save mankind.

And Veronica becoming the so called "saviour" is canon no matter what path or decisions you take. Kane choices are useless for her ultimate fate. Your only choice is to join her (B), or co-exist (A&C), or let her go (evil factions). "The greatest immortal goddess". This kills all my thrill of this game for veronica.

You should consider the date of release for these episodes.

Some "Evil" Veronica content dates back to 2020.
I guess that in the past years Tess has changed her plans for Veronica, so if Tess would look at Season 1 again she might rewrite some of the scenes to better fit the current narrative.
