Thanks for the offer, but looks like I just need to "de-Bonnie" myself. That pretty much means people who already had beaten Bonnie at this point were kind of fucked?
As Nait said, having beaten Bonnie before is not an issue. I think that the issue can be fixed by beating her again and giving the essence to Vaila again, after which she should send you back to Miki's and then the gore dungeon happens. The issue I talked about before happens after doing the dungeon, so I'm not 100% sure if it's actually the same bug after all lmao

I'm thinking maybe Teary was too ambitious with Katalyst as a developer... and lacks a final vision and/or the tools to implement it to his satisfaction. I mean, there's obviously tons of stuff about social and mechanical dynamics of realms that are only hinted at currently.
I appreciate the potentially epic scale... but maybe Teary should have thought of a smaller scenario and focused on making it important to the player. Despite all his efforts, I'm pretty sure that Katalyst will end up being an enjoyable but ultimately abandoned project.

This is also where I'm stuck at the moment.
If someone wants my save, feel free to borrow it in the attachment below. (Make sure you backup your saves because there's literally everything that isn't a null item in Dilan's backpack. And most of the playtime was playtesting.)
I'll try your save and see if I can progress tonight, but just provisionally; Teary barely ever updates the quest list, so don't use it as a guide. In my save, which AFAIK has done literally everything that the game has to offer save for the alchemy, the journal is more or less the same, though with a couple more side quests and two more finished missions (one of which is the gore dungeon)

Edit: The "Katalist Rituals" quest is exactly the same, with the same objectives and all, for instance. So that part shouldn't be bugged.

I’d say it’s exactly the opposite. He has a final vision and is working hard to make it happen, but it’s difficult and ambitious for one person. A big moment for me was finding out Dixie could dispel Caroline’s rumors, since Dixie has had the rumors dialogue option since her introduction. It’s clear to me that he knew he would be adding Caroline and the rumors down the line. It’s probably the most impressive but also most frustrating thing about the game. Teary has so many clear ideas and knows what he plans on doing but he works on too many things at once instead of picking specific things to focus on. It’s how we end up getting things in certain updates that aren’t supposed to be there.

Thanks for the info. That's rather weird since there are calls all over the place (at least I guess the Panty Pervert quest works as intended). And yeah, those other ones (the ones you initially get) have been sitting there for uh, years now. Guess now I know where I need to look though! Again, thanks for the pointers. I really need to focus on the plotline instead of the... side stuff.
Well, for what it's worth, the side stuff is the stuff that works the best lmao

The content (both dialogue and CGs) actually is fucking massive for Katalist. Main issue is people at this point might have missed a good bunch of it, especially the sidequests and random NPC funsies. How many people did the entire Frustrated Husband route? How many people uncovered the secret behind the cats? How many people actually managed to find all non-plot NPCs you can interact with in a "no going back now, your destiny is sealed" way?

I don't even know why I came back to Katalist - pure insanity and masochism cat killed the curiosity I guess - but I know I came back because there would be more stuff. There's clearly way more than expected, and I don't think I'll even be done testing stuff anytime soon...
Amen! I've said something to this effect before. The porn is good and all, but the thing that gets me coming back to Katalist is the sheer amount of detail, content and writing in it. Like yeah the H scenes are good but I genuinely think that you could remove all of it and it'd still be a solid game.
I've no idea why Teary decided to add so many intricate secrets to a porn game, but god knows I love him for it. You can tell that there's actual passion and artistic intent in the project.

Actually I came back for this. Though I still have no clue why Teary keeps calling the MC a succubus, this literally overcomes my androphobia. Or rather fear of dicks, though I'm still uncomfortable when it's onscreen. If only Teary made a proper succubus (and not an incubus)... :sneaky:
... and amen to this as well. A lezdom Katalist would be fucking perfect. (though I'm pretty sure that the reason why the school kids refer to the MC as a succubus is due to the whole thing about him having the essence of succubi and all. Funny that they keep especifically refering to him as that when incubi are known to exist in the lore, though)

You’ve made me curious. Is there more to the frustrated husband than doing shit with him for money? And now I have to go see what the cats you speak of are all about. I actually like the random stuff in the game. It’s fun to just stumble upon something unique.

I don't think that there's more to the frustated husband "route", but you can sell him drugs at least. As for the cats, it's not like a secret quest or anything but the ones around the city are definitely up to something.
If you wanna go secret hunting, remember to check the late night, and search for all the unique characters with CG. There's a surprising ammount of them and a few are pretty hard to find.

Cool. I’ve found the drug dealer and I’d imagine Teary has more plans for her. I’ve been surprised every update by which characters have artwork. This update adding the McHearty’s red head was a surprise and her design is great. Even if they don’t get content I think npcs having art makes the characters and world feel more alive.

You can also trigger the (new) interlude by noclipping at this exact position, since that's not an autorun but an action button (below chars) event.

One year of not playing Katalist made me rusty. I forgot Teary hid emergency events when he broke saves.
I'm actually playing around with your save right now.
I know shit about coding but I can at least say that
1) Miki has the post-interlude dialogue, so even if you haven't done it, the game thinks you did
2) A lot of the items you have are from the interlude, or even from future content. It's possible that one of the items, or playing around with the variables, caused the game to essentially just skip that whole part.

I know that I'm not being super helpful but I'd say that if you wanna do the Interlude, you should probably use that shortcut you found. Though I remember that the new interlude begins prior to the dungeon in a scene where you pick between warmth or cold (and IIRC they have some effect on how the interlude plays out), so I can't promise that everything will work if you didn't do those scenes.

I didn't meet Julia either. If I don't meet her soon things are going to break - or they're already broken.
Isn't Julia the pale ghost girl in the gore dungeon? I don't think that you can go through it without encountering her.

A few things and I'll leave it for the day (though it's always enjoyable to pick apart at the game):

1) IIRC, the way the gore dungeon is suppoused to go is;
- You fall from the hole
- You encounter Julia, who flees
- You encounter Ki
- You go south, encounter Alex
- You keep moving and eventually go into the "mindsink" (is that how it's named in the files?), at which point the interlude diverges into several different paths, but in any case you eventually leave the dungeon through the stairs with or without Ki.
I'm skipping the more puzzle-ish parts but that's the basic gist of it. If you did it some other way, pretty sure that shit's broken. And also the Butler shouldn't be accesible through normal means (though I'm aware that he has dialogues for some reason)

After the dungeon, if you saved Ki, he should be at the hotel. There are a few more cutscenes but at the end of the interlude, Dominic is at Vaila's during the night and Vaila's dialogues are about Bonnie (which, as I said before, I'm fairly sure is a bug)

So that should be how the game progresses. You don't go back into the dungeon. Julia being nameless is okay since she doesn't introduce herself in-game, though I don't remember if/when the others do. I don't think that Alex has a contact entry on the phone if you play normally, but I'm pretty sure that she's getting content in the next update so it may be a placeholder.

I think that I have a save right before the dungeon. I can give you that if you want to, because sadly I'm not entirely sure if your save is salvageable without massive amounts of code ductape.

2) No idea what dialogue Vaila is giving you or at what stage it is. As said, in my save she just talks about Bonnie at the end, and AFAIK that's how it goes by that point (okay, I think that she has another set of dialogues before bugging out and talking about Bonnie again, but it's been months since I did the interlude)

3) About Trent... pretty sure that his involvement in the Dixie quest got axed, so that part has been retconned. His encounter after the gore dungeon is his first "canonical" appearance, I think.

Technically yes. The problem is I think I've rescued Ki too soon, directly following the Departure path (and meeting a nameless Julia twice who got scared).

The basement alone has an issue:
- Alex's Butler #5 (a zombie who wants bones, apparently) is reachable (and can even be talked to), has dialogue, but if you exit to the right, the game will crash as the map is not implemented - it was deleted from the map index by Teary. You can of course add a dummy map with that name (Map 87) but that's not really recommended, since it means you're not supposed to go through that area.

If I head the other way (towards the Overseer's Lodge through the Rat's Corridor), I encounter Alex (again, initially nameless) who sneaks on the MC and takes a look at his phone. She then disappears to the right and shuts the door behind her (to the control room).

If I head further down the Overseer's, there's a scene that plays where Julia rushes in and kidnaps Ki. Now there are multiple issues here.
- The MC falls and gets stuck, along with a Mindsink (flickering and a voice looping in your head) even though they didn't unlock dreams yet. As a consequence, the switches that should normally activate (based on Cold/Warm, and, yet to be seen, My Own Path) are unavailable, and since you can't call the cube while Mindsunk, you effectively are stuck (unless of course you noclip or force teleport out of the map by hacking).
- Literally all the dungeon keys are at the end of this corridor (they still won't open the rooms without a keyhole)
- The Bloodworks (the ladder down southeast of the Overseer's, following the blood trail) can only be used if the ladder's self-switch A is activated. It is not, so a case of "what are you even doing here?!" I think lol.
- Force-entering the Bloodworks causes the following: Julia does NOT show up after that path (and neither does Alex) as their respective self-switches are not activated (which very likely means you aren't supposed to follow that path once again). You can activate the switches manually to see what happens, but this just clones the MC in the opposite direction (meaning they were supposed to be coming from the left instead of the right) and you also get Ki back after Julia panics at Alex leaping over the pit and trying to dispose of her.

tl;dr: Eveyone I met was nameless. I think I fucked something up again in there. And again, it wasn't the items - tested both cases. Also checked variables...

Can you actually return to this dungeon after you take Ki to safety through the Departure room and then Midway L2 to the manhole to Sentinel City right in front of the tower? Because if you can't, well shit, I'll have to do some more adjustments...

There's also the fact that Alex's supposed to have a contact entry in the phone. And the fact (according to the code at least) that I'm supposed to get a call from John telling me that Dominic is at the Occult Club, when Dominic literally is studying in Vaila's hut as if nothing happened. This doesn't add up, and Vaila also becomes useless again, she just stops worrying about Bonnie and tells the MC to "focus on the task at hand", even though there is none. I mean, she doesn't give a fuck about Miki anymore, talks about Rousou and how you're going to be slaughtered so you need improvements (when improvements haven't even been mentioned before), and next target just has her go "focus on the task at hand".

Yeah uh. I think I'm just going to do some more code-digging and uh, be careful with that save if you test things with it, right? It's probably kind of cursed... Yikes.

(I don't even recall Miki mentioning Jalié. She just said she was from Sharling. Trent's from the Ortega bloodline, or at least he has ties to pass as a kin since he insists on not being called Ortega... Damna's Covert has three cats named Mortimer, Nevicata and Obla on top of others who are spying on her behalf - as well as one on Vhidna's behalf... The MC doesn't even remember meeting up with Trent even though he got him stoned for Dixie's book... What the actual fuck. My memory is bad but, what the actual fuck. There's something off here!)
jesus everyone is typing so much today whats goin on x_X

I only skimmed most the messages
but I felt like responding since I notice you always mess around with switches and stuff

The 'Good Route' where you save the boy from the bloody pit is bugged right?
(after I saved him, took him to a hotel, and was "forced" to go and kill him, because if I didnt game would crash)

if you could confirm this id appreciate it =P

Thanks a lot for the help. I guess at this point I'd really appreciate a copy of your clean save when you have the time, I'll hold on to it as a clean base to compare and see what I have to "fix".

Seems like it's not as desperate as I thought, though, but I literally couldn't get away after getting mindsunk (indeed, that's how it's named) - got told to sleep but was stuck on a tile. When I took the "normal" path (completely ignoring the rest of the dungeon), I could escape with Ki without any issue, but didn't meet Alex since she was further south.Actually, you can escape and rescue Ki as long as you don't venture south, from what I found at least. It's best to rely on a clean save, though. There's definitely something off with mine, though at least it's "mostly fixed".
yeah you can escape and rescue him, but after you return him to a hotel (and you go to sleep) you can either submit to your dreams and it forces you return to him and kill him in your sleep
or
you can resist and get a weird cutscene that is bugged and just repeats (so you have to kill him otherwise your softlocked from game) =(

Brothers and sisters, can you lend a fellow a saved file? If so, thank you! Also, I honestly do not want to start all over again.

I remember Teary mentioning that there's a super secret path for the interlude that nobody had found out. So pressing esc five times in the cold/warmth section is the path? Interesting to learn.
AFAIK the Interlude has like six outcomes at this point. Wonder how Teary is gonna juggle all that.
Attached to this comment I'll add the save file right before the interlude that I promised yesterday. To start the interlude, go with Vaila and give her the essence.

And Evizzy89 , I'm not sure if the latest updates broke stuff, but at least in my save Ki could be saved and he's just hanging out at the hotel. Did you try both the normal route of disobeying the ghost AND the route where you tell it to fuck off? They're suppoused to be different.

a HUGE wall of text
i dunno what you're talking about. that was a totaly reasonable amount of information for a simple yes/no question lol. i'll take a look at things later, even though you overestimate my coding skills (and that bit that i have is rusty). if i'm lucky i just missed the creepy girls and don't need any aspirin lol. anyway, thank you for the detailed instructions!

i saved that unthankful guy and had no real issues. i remember one or two of those dream scenes repeating, but just once and not indefinatly. got through all that in the first non-bugfixed version as well. so if you just closed the game when it started looping, i suggest you give it another try.

does anyone know if there are more Caroline scenes if you refuse to give her money i decided to Rp as a greedy character so had to stick to being an asshole (which makes the game a lot funnier) i got confronted by her but thats it so i had to ask dixie to recover my rep

Thanks again. Just tested it, we have the same exact content storywise in the data except the new Bonnie routine broke everything with Vaila, so it's her own event checks that got fucked. Yeah, looks like it was indeed a case of breaking old saves... If you had defeated Bonnie at this point already you were fucked since that would block the first two mindsinks from triggering. To correct my earlier "noclipping fix", it's recommended to instead mess with the walk-in switches. (only the C "Walken" - classic typos - switch gets checked, and it is triggered by the second mindsink, but it's still recommended to set both the initial one and the C one to not break anything else.
Oh, meaning that my save is broken too?

That's... discouraging. I had somehow managed to keep it going without anything too serious bugging out since the first release of the game, surviving and avoiding all the game-breaking glitches and all. IIRC Teary mentioned that he had a workaround for people who had completed the interlude prior to its update, so hopefully the next time he adds content nothing breaks.

To add to what Nait asked a long time ago during my break, the new struggle formula doesn't work as intended for a few simple reasons:
- it's much more complicated (needlessly overcomplicated) than described in the changelog, and the formulas have redundancies that break it
- the result is treated as a boolean (if it's negative then it is zero, if it's positive then it is one)
- you may also have to add difficulty on top of this, which is controlled by a plugin

Highly recommend debugging struggle results with final and step-by-step variable calls, either in the dev console or directly in game text windows.

Here's what your first mindsink is supposed to look like after unlocking My Own Way (cancel five times):

You can still follow either one of the other routes. Once you follow your own way, there is no going back. If you choose My Own Way at this point, though, the initial Suite 04 scene plays out way differently.

This set is meant for experimenting with the underground dungeon. Saves are clean, no extra content done (only alchemy was unlocked, and only absolutely required story content was done). Save 40 is full warmth, save 41 is full own way and save 42 is full cold. All three only have two mindsinks, even though you've been soultrapped three times for whatever reason - the first time likely is when you actually get struck with the status and have to sleep. There are two other mindsinks to explore from there on.

Just tell Miki you have a question and then choose whatever.

ive always been curious, is there a way to fight margo? I noticed she has several triggers in rpg editor,
also do you use some type of program to see what does what in triggers and ect to find hidden scenes or content?
