Ah, one my first ero games. Liked the story, loved the girls... Though I found the mc unpleasantly angsty. And OH MY GOD, how long does it take you to realize Emi's father died in that car accident?! "I've met Emi's mother but not her father, and Emi doesn't like talking about her father OR the accident. Guess I'll get the truth out of her by comparing her secret to a grave! It's not like I'll be touching a major nerve or anything!"
There are many instances where Hisao is downright insulting to his love interest, even if he means well. I like that trait about him the best, actually. It's what ultimately sells me on his relatibility as a character. Even after the good endings, it's obvious Hisao still needs to grow on his own.
Given the circumstances of the game, it would have been a little boring if the MC wasn't as flawed as he is.

Like zARRR said, a lot of the routes have the heroine get mad at you for being invasive. I remember Hanako and Lilly being mad as shit at you if you try too hard to help them. Boundaries and independence are important. It's kinda alarming that most other VNs give the opposite message.
The issue I had (way back when, and might be wrong about) was that--I thought, at least--Hisao used an analogy like "keep your secrets in a grave" or something when arguing with Emi about not talking about things. She got pissed (in a "not even going to yell. Get out, NOW." kind of way), and I just remember thinking it was such a stupid thing to say because it was SO OBVIOUS by that point that Emi's father had died in the car accident.
But the fact we're having a multi-person discussion about this one little detail a decade after the game's release just shows what a memorable gem this game was, and it will always have a little extra special meaning for me because it was my first one of these games.

I didn't even realize until now (or realized when I played, then forgot) that the game is paired into girls who complement each other--the girl with no legs is friends with the girl with no arms. The girl who is super self-conscious about marks covering half her body is friends with a blind girl. And the girl who talks too much is friends with a girl who's deaf. Neat.

Ah yes I remember that phrase, it’s a possible outcome at Emi’s dinner, where Hisao tries to comfort Emi but yet again she doesn’t want his help, and they start again fighting on their relationship.
The phrase that Hisao said was mostly caused by anger but at the same time he didn’t really mean to say it that way…
And it’s immediately clear on how both him and Emu reacts, even him realizes the fatal error he committed.
I stopped there for some moments honestly, I could not go forward for that scene.

You have to remember to get 100% you must play all routes for each girl including good, bad and neutral.
Some girls only have 2 but most of them have 3 different paths to get to the 100% completion.

Emi has 2 endings good and bad with 2 ways to get to the good ending.

This is why there is different ways to talk to each girl.

I only did Emi's route a long time ago for the cunny but looking back, this VN had such a profound effect on me that it got me hiking regularly and taking care of my body. Maybe I should finish it.

Misha's shirt tho. o_O

Every story in there own way are very hart warming and you should do all paths.
2 of the stories are very hard to play but hang in there and you will see what I am saying.

Just found there is an HD patch available that brings the game to a current screen resolution.
As it is not mentioned on the front page here is the link

You just need to run the script on your current installation of katawa shoujo and you can then play with a full screen display.
Do you have a version that's already patched since Joiplay can't be patched using exe files I think?

Well, I tried downloading the HD patch, but it keeps telling me that the file is broken. Would someone be willing to upload their own (Win.) files here (with the HD patch already installed), please?

This says it is a RenPy game, yet when I unpack the zipfile it doesn't have the classic Ren'Py folders like "game" alongside the application, and my computer does the ever dreaded "Would you like to allow this to make changes to your computer?" pop-up when I do click the application. Frankly, I refuse to play games I downloaded from a pornsite when that pops up.

Does anyone know if there is a link that is classic ren'py style? Or something I should do? This has excellent ratings and tags, but I am... leery... of the version I downloaded.

PS if you do provide a link, please use either workupload or mega, I am needlessly paranoid about most of the others lol
