I hope so much we will really receive an update in the future. I can't think of other games with a similar atmosphere between the characters, especially the free-use.
People didn't believe me when I said he will be back every time there was a long wait for an update but Inka is one of the few devs here with strong integrity, he has been doing this for free as a pure passion project with 0 monetary motivation and nobody should be mad even if he outright declares that he has abandoned this project.
I wish him the best and hope that he has a fully recovery, if his friend updated that he will be back when possible i believe those words truly but sometimes life gets in the way and that's ok.

with this game that would be very appropriate.Dead games should be left as a monument to their creator, not turned into some kind of zombie that's a perverse reflection of its former glory.
but if ink is doing better a good christmas present to his loyal fans would be something simple like a brief recap using existing graphics. writing a short script shouldn't be too taxing an effort. just dipping his toes so to speak. it would definitely rally the troops and I'm guessing it would convince many (me included) to sponsor his efforts so it doesn't only have to be a labor of love. with 132 pages of messages for a game without an update for 4 years I'm sure there are many potential donors ( but use SS instead of patreon)

I'm not going to lie, people talk so highly about this game that I want to play it even though it's completely abandoned.
I'm afraid that I'll end up liking it a lot and in the end be sad knowing that they'll never continue the story.

It is that good, and proves that if you have outstanding writing the rest will follow. The graphics here are simple HS stuff (but never ugly mind you), but the way sexual tension and release is written is fucking incredible.

Just a reminder: Inkadude didn't use to ask for a penny / sponsorship / funding. He didn't have a Patreon webpage back in the days.with this game that would be very appropriate.
So, it never was and it would never be and it will never be a question of "sponsoring his efforts". The reason why he stopped is "bad shit happening in his Life". Nothing more, nothing less.
Therefore there is literally nothing you can do about it.

mostly disagree. but it also depends on the depth of the love for how devastating the loss is. for example if you ever watched the second season of clannad, with that level of loss the person honestly feels better off having died themselves and probably won't ever feel differently. (his own fault for choosing sickly girl nagisa tbh. )
on the flip side one can 'love' an object or an idea and losing that 'love' can possibly be a part of healthy growth. so i also get that. not sure if that applies to this game though but maybe?
Well, you can just play the game and pretend it ends with MC death (final image is kinda suits it).

Well in that case I've already played the 0.9.1 update, although I wish all the best for the developers, it's just sad that these great games are abandoned, so anymore recommendations you have?

That was by someone who "worked" with them, and did translations, I wouldn't necessarily call that a "real update" but someone taking liberties with what they "thought" the real dev would have done.
