Seeing people like the game as a baseline MTL is a reasonable motivator for translators picking it up too.
Honestly, every MTL that comes out is the same complaints repeated over and over for the first few pages of every thread. I don't get it. Nothing new is being said here. No one likes the MTL, but it's better than nothing, and F95zone is a much more reliable source for downloads than anything else I've found. Next best is hentaibedta, and that's still untranslated Japanese games yoinked off dlsite and split into chunks of Zippyshare downloads behind pages of link shorteners and ads.
Would strongly beg to differ there.
I don't touch MTLs at all because as you (and much of the community) have said, "it's better than nothing." The issue is that there's two contrasting viewpoints that people share, which is: 1.) I want this game translated now, so I don't care that it's MTL, and 2.) This MTL is poetry, is broken, or introduces some sort of problem/bug with the game, so now I want it translated.
What that tells an actual fan translator (and not the people who claim to be translators by dumping games into MTool/BepinEx/T++) is that the community doesn't care about their efforts and is fine with MTL. Honestly, it seems like half the people here, based on their ability to string together cogent or coherent sentences, are ESL speakers and can't understand a true translation anyway, so MTLs might just be okay with them. Therefore, it's in both the community and the translator's interest to avoid wasting time in something the community is seemingly content with, and instead to focus on a completely untranslated game to translate. Sure, nobody "likes" an MTL, but not only is it easier to produce, but it's also "acceptable" for many folks. And if you're thinking there no harm in MTLs, it's discouraging to translators, at least for me, in picking them up. That's why the same complaints get repeated over and over again - Because people don't understand how MTLs fully affect the community, as they're only focused on what they're getting as instant gratification.
The community needs to be more united on what they want. If y'all want MTLs, that's totally fine. If not, the trade-off is that y'all need to wait patiently since fan-translations take time (like months), meaning the newest games shouldn't be expected to be translated immediately. We're also not robots. We can only really work on one at a time, and we have lives outside of this since it's a hobby not a real job (hence the "fan" part of fan-translators). And it's always nice to know you're appreciated, even if it's not with a monetary contribution.
Anyway, I already had this in my "to-translate" folder, but yeah, I've got so many translations to work on that I'm sorta glad this is MTLed. If people keep complaining, I'll take a look and see how long it'll take to translate.
