I may be wrong here, but I think they're takin' the piss. (Remaking it or RPG maker.)I'm going to be the one who disagrees here. Restarting the project, starting a new game or remaking it in rpg maker would be absolutely useless and it most likely isn't that realistic either.
KoD's development clearly lacks management and planning. Even tho Nomo has an overall direction, in every single patch so far we have seen content being added with a delay or cut and passed on to the next patch. There seem to be plans for what should be in the finished game but for not when and how.
This is made worse by the working speed of some team member(s). It doesn't really matter if it's a lack of free time to work on this game or laziness, the result is the same.
Until these things get fixed, restarting the game or making a new one won't make any difference at best and just give us 1-2 years of absolutely no content followed up by the same pace at worst.
That is, if Hreinn decides to make another project if they decide to shut down this one.
I want to see improvement on the speed of released content, just as everyone else in this thread, but continuing KoD is the best scenario in every case, because either the current problems get carried over to the new project or they get fixed and if they are fixed, then carrying on with KoD doesn't need new foundations and planning to start.
I can see advantages to having done it in RPG maker from the beginning (namely having a lot of the mechanics they had to code into renpy native or available as free addons online). But yeah, I hoipe it was a joke about taking literally years to redo the game so far in RPGmaker, seeing as the coding seems to be (one of) the frequent causes of the delays (IIRC it's a common excuse they give). Hell, you can see what happens to an ambitious project when they redo it in a new engine with Malise and the Machine. Last had a release of a version in 2018 (unless there's some release not posted here or updated on their patreon front page), though still being "worked on" in a new engine according to the developer.I may be wrong here, but I think they're takin' the piss. Exactly. Noxian Nights failed miserably on that point: poorly designed maps, lots of useless walking, empty world, terrible battles and balancing. Kingdom of Deception is a huge step up from Noxian Nights in my opinion and I think they should keep making games in Ren'Py. And I say that without even considering how outdated the RPGmaker engine is compared to Ren'Py.I don't find RPGmaker to be a better engine for most games. A ton of RPGmaker games just wind up having tons of empty space and useless walking. Unless a major part of the game is to have random combat, I prefer Renpy or any other engine.
i was a subscriber to their patreon at some point.Bruh a lot of people complaining for free pirated content
What? I found Noxian Nights to be a great game overall, not just for the lewd content. It has small well designed maps, every corner has a purpose, which area did you think was empty? As someone who has played many RPGM games it has efficient maps and I didn't really feel like I was walking uselessly overall. Unless you find any sort of walking useless in which case that's your problem. The battles were also fun, I found it challenging at certain moments in my first playthrough but never overly tedious which is what I generally seek and many games here are missing. I liked the variety of bosses and such.Exactly. Noxian Nights failed miserably on that point: poorly designed maps, lots of useless walking, empty world, terrible battles and balancing. I really question your definition of doubling...The last update literally doubled the scenes of the game. Get a grip people. They have bad management, and they are obviously milking it, but if you discredit the devs for every update, just don't play the game. Be mature people and move on. I don't understand wtf the outrage is.
When you don't like something - don't pay for it, don't play it, don't talk about it. Simple economy. The forever moaners here that just keep on bitching about how the update is slogging, that there is no content etc, etc, etc - wtf are you here for damn. There are other games, other studios. There has to be something you like. Go and support it and let the project die and move on, or stop repeating the same circlejerk bs that this forum's been seeing for probably the last 30 pages or so. And I mean the huge ones.
Now that i think about it, considering that many things are fetish-able, maybe there is something like a fetish on circlejerking? That would explain a whole lot of mystery around...stop repeating the same circlejerk bs that this forum's been seeing for probably the last 30 pages or so.
Half of us on this forum are damn tsunderes. "It's not like i like your game or anything, baka! Hmh."Now that i think about it, considering that many things are fetish-able, maybe there is something like a fetish on circlejerking? That would explain a whole lot of mystery around...
This is what happens when developers become too ambitious. Seen too many developers who plan out too many stuff and never gets finished. Reminds me of one developer group the ones developing the parody of Star fox staring Crystal that game is a complete mess. This game is falling into that rabbit hole as well.Man wish they released content more often, would definitely sub to patron if they did.
