I know a lot of people play for the studio (which I do too in part) but it's wrong to assume most people do that, people liking the game but not doing a lot of studio don't really post after a certain time, especially since there's no proper gameplay. People on discord and here are very specialised and a little bored so they're mostly studio people (for my part I play since Sexy Beach 3...).That is the way Illusion made the game, there is no fix for intentional design.
I didn't say you didn't know what mods are, if I had to guess, the uncensor is not properly set up for anal. Most people who play Illusion games from the original Koikatsu to this one, including the two games and one dedicated scene maker in between, don't care about the games themselves, which is not to say nobody cares, some of us do, but most only care about the studio as if that is the only thing the game offers.
What I meant by related in name only is that they are not simply the same game in a different setting, the underlying code is VERY different between the two games, which is why things have to be tweaked. If the code of each was identical, the mods would work from the start in both games. Illusion made user created assets compatible in one direction, that being Koikatsu to Koikatsu Sunshine, but they didn't make the whole thing compatible, unfortunately, even though they could have due to how close the games are with just a bit of work for the slight art style difference.
It's less that they are lazier and more a combination of two factors. The first is their actual customers, who wanted more customization and gameplay was simply one of the things sacrificed for customization as far as development time. The second is the stigma against them because they are developers of porn games. Japan doesn't exactly look too kindly on porn in general and being a porn game developer is something that gets hit by that stigmatized outlook on porn, which is also what plays into the whole 'must censor genitals' thing that is part of article 175 of the Japanese penal code as revised in 1907. Porn game developers sometimes even hide what they do from their own family until they have enough job experience to move to a normal developer.
What I meant by sharing similiraties I meant assets (obviously) but also code. And obviously it's not the same code since it needs tweaking but it's not like a whole different game. Although I don't know myself how much it shares, a modder (that do coding, not just texturing...) told me that it was close enough. It's pretty vague but it means it's not a whole different thing.
So combine 1 & 2 and it was a real possiblity that it was something stupid causing the anal bug but nobody cared about it.
As for porn in Japan the stigma is different than in the West but the fact is it sells, just like porn in the West sells. The whole stigma is not why the game isn't bigger (although it does play in part) It's just that Illusion team is happy with the workload and team size so yes it's not really lazyness.
