Why do they actually continue making the cartoony games, when it is possible to do something much more lifelike? Beats me, but there must be a market for it. In my opinion, all the games from that company with 3DCG looking artwork are basically the same.

Actually i prefer the cartoonish style most of the times.
Even the best "realistic" 3D games cannot escape from that doll-like/plastified effect that give me the feeling i'm watching a some kind of marionettes theater with barbie dolls.
Yeah, paradoxically the "cartoonish" style reduce the uncanny effect of the 3D puppetification. I understand the point of view of people that prefer realistic looking porn, and probably hate hentai anime, but as you said it has it's own market as well. And is actually a much bigger market than DAZ based games. If you make a comparison with the production of anime-like games.
lol this series from illusion is way better than ever before, I am very excited for the full game!!!

I do not see why everyone thinks the old ones are better, this is clearly going to have way more content than ever before!!

I love ILLUSION! TY FOR KK 2!
I can only think of nostalgia goggles. I've played all the most popular illusion games. The sexy beaches, the artificial girls, that artificial academies...
I can't say any of them had any kind of complex gameplay. Actually i would even say that koikatsu have more complex gameplay than those i mentioned.
Maybe only premium resort on the blueprints was a more complex game. Too bad it was a buggy and almost unplayable clusterfuck.

I mean.. they are based in Japan after all. And what's popular in Japan? Anime.

Personally, I have no problem with it. I enjoyed Koikatsu.

maybe because some like the anime / cartoon look? (Including me) It's just like asking why some people like hentais and not "real" porn

C'Mon. "Cartoony" erotic entertainment has been a thing since the days of dropping a penny into a hand-cranked peep show to view a 20 second sex cartoon. Of course there's a market for it.

Sometimes, distancing your fantasy from reality is a good thing. Things are possible in cartoons and animation that just aren't in real life, and with cartoons you can exaggerate and amplify actions, feelings, and emotions beyond what's possible in reality.

illusion used its own engine, so all games before harem mate have problems.
I am one who played illusion games when they came out and I can assure you that the AA series as gameplay is better than koikatsu, in fact if today someone asks me which is the illusion game I prefer I answer AA, but as you said this is only fog in the eyes, because today if you play AA you are disappointed

So, what does "only the character maker" mean exactly and what's different to the full version?
are there no sex scenes at all in this?

Now that I know more about the game, it looks like it will be better than KK1 in almost every way.

The only thing that worries me if in this new game there will be a school too, it would be a bit disappointing if that part was removed, I say it because it seems that it will be, I have not seen in the demo videos and information that is available so far, that the characters are seen at school and in the character creator there are only 4 different outfits and there is no school outfit.

Now ... I am quite excited by the fact that it seems that in general it will be a better game and even more so to think that they will probably get 1 or 2 DLCs as they did with kk1 that were 2 important, which added 4 new personalities (which in this case, this game will already bring them, so they are probably story and gameplay dlcs). The other one that was to have better dates, the 3p (which was really bad) and 4 more personalities I think and the last DLC's that was small, which "raped" a few personalities.

Now, if I believe that AA is better in playability (only in that) and from my heart I also hope that one day AA3 will come out but I think that many remember it better than AA was because of nostalgia, I say it because I remembered it that way and when I played it again a few months ago it was not the same xD. Now I sincerely believe that KK is one of the best games that has brought out illusion and with this new one it seems that it will be better in almost all aspects than KK1 when it came out.

I respectfully disagree that KK is the best. I have played most of the illusion games, but the only one I keep returning to (and haven't deleted) is AA2. Yes, the character creator is a bit lackluster (even with AAUnlimited), but it still has more personalities and possibilities with them than KK. What do I mean?

In KK, the personalities barely affect the gameplay. There are variations in how the girls say something and the choice you should make in response. On the surface, this seems similar to AA2, but AA2 goes much deeper:

First, in AA you have competition...NPCs are going to try to win and bone your lover/target. Jealousy can also be a major factor (especially with the yandere modules from AAU). You want to build a harem? Well, be careful not to get killed doing so. Hell, once I set-up a school of rapist succubi that would suck out my life and kill me. The goal was to see how many weeks I could survive. It was really fun.

Second, the porn is better. Yes, I said it. KK has better graphics, collisions, more positions, better animations, and some good story-backed fucking for main characters. The problem is none of it is exciting. It's all just too vanilla. Every scene is basically the same: you love each other and have sex...occasionally with some very, very watered-down fetishes. Despite this flaw, those scenes were well-made, but I have no need to ever seen them again. No replayability and it takes a long time to even skip through them.

In AA2, however, even with the limited scenes, the setup can be really interesting. You can be raped, a rapist, cheating with another's lover, cucked, blackmailed/blackmailer, swinging, married (vanilla or spicy), or in a forbidden relationship with your teacher/student(s), etc. This is all on top of being able to incorporate (nearly) any sexual orientation. There is simply extra excitement in those situations in terms of porn content and fetishes that KK just couldn't quite do because of the lack of competition and roles that you can play. KK railroads you into a certain playstyle, while AA2U gives you a lot of freedom.

Finally, I may be in the minority, but I really hated grinding the various sexual positions in order to unlock content/characters. I kept thinking, "how many more times to I gotta fuck this girl's ass now?" I couldn't enjoy the scenes because I just wanted to get through it for the stats. I don't mind the concept, but the increments grew way too slowly.

TL;DR:

I want AA3 (based on AAU) or something similar in terms of gameplay. I really wish I could like KK more...(character creator is sooo good...but gameplay is so repetitive). Don't know much yet about KK2, but I'm a bit sad that it looks to be nothing more than KK with mods incorporated on release.

First of all, I agree with everything you say about AA, that I already know all that because I play both games a lot. That's why I said AA is better at playability, but only at that.

Second, I did not say that kk is the best illusion game, if not one of the best.

Third, yes. The gameplay of kk is very simple and plain and since you spend the story you will not want to play anymore, in my case I only conquered like 5 personalities and I no longer played the story mode xD until they took out the dlc of the appointments and I played a little more.

Fourth, about the game being very vanilla, yes it is, but this is more about taste and here we can no longer be objective. Personally, I prefer vanilla so in that aspect the game did not fail me, what if I did not like it at all was the fact that it is a harem and you are the only boy in school.

Finally, my ideal would be a KK that is like AA2, let me explain. That it has a school like KK1, but that when you leave it you can go to various parts of the city, for example, to the arcades, a restaurant, the beach, a hotel or even the girl's room, but that it is all 3d and to be able to walk through the district, street or place where you go and have a spot to activate said activity and all this complemented with the magnificent gameplay of AA2 and interaction between npc's and of course you are not the only man in the school, in my fantasy no I see it as something impossible to do xD

Hmm I have to agree with you there. While I haven't played AA2 much (I'm not a fan of older games in general, since graphics are one of my primary concerns when picking a game to delve into) but you are completely correct in lining out the lacklustre gameplay and sexual tension in KK compared to AA2. I love KK, I really do, but once more you are right in pointing out that the girl's personalities and differences don't really affect your progress in the game. All it means is that you have to pick out the right answer to get relationship points a little bit faster, but beyond a few key differences in dialogue, it's not much to go on.

I do wonder what would happen if we combine the Slice-of-life elements of AI Shoujo, the graphics and animation quality of Koikatu and the relationship building and variation of approach to sex from AAU. I think it would be sufficient to make people happy.

The only other thing I want Illusion to add (which they have been lacking for years) is physics involving penetration. There are SOOOOO many other 3D porn games that are able to do that, even the Loverslab modded Skyrim you have mentioned have that feature. Makes me wonder why Illusion isn't able to do that.

Personally a thing i care is that characters are affected by clothing and morality.
It kind of annoy me when they walk around the school naked without giving a shit, but then they get embarassed only in changing/shower room. Or like AI shojo when you already fucked them 100 times, made kinky stuff and shit, and still they get embarassed when you go near them when they are taking a bath/dump.
Again one of the few illusion games that managed kind of decently this aspect was premium resort. Thinking again about it, that game was kind of ambitious and had a lot of good premises. Too bad everything ended being half assed.

Probably is considered pointless because of the mandatory censorship.

Nah, that's kinda bs. Insult Order is another 3D hentai game similar to Koikatu and it has those penetrative Physics. Both are made by Japanese producers.

This I totally agree on! I miss the competition element that to some extent are able to drive a personal RP story. What I think is missing in the AA series set up is the a fully rendered 3d world, where you could random walk in on someones privat moment realtime.

You can it's even advertised on Sunshine's website as a "feature". Just download this trial and load your KK1 cards, provided said card isn't loaded with tons of mods that are not ported yet
