Actually it doesn't matter if they backpedal as anyone that thinks this through enough should realize that as long as the people in charge that let the CEO do this and the CEO stay in power then Unity is not safe to use for game development as it was apparently just last year that they increased prices already so it's clear to me that they are doing this for greed as other's have said and will continue to make other changes after this for more greed.
Unity hasn't been in a good state for a long time as if you compare the documentation to other engine's it's a mess, they haven't been looking after it so if you want to see how to do something you have to find someone else who's found out not go to the Unity handbook.

The Dev made a few posts on X basically saying that he has put too much work into Unity to change to a different engine now and as a developer the only people who can easily change are people who don't have that much time committed already, though he does wish they would stop making him so anxious with all of their new policies.

The habits of a designer and coder are way more important then the knowledge of their tools in the long run.
As long as he has the right attitude then by the end of this project he can switch with minimal issues.

And I assure people, if you don't interact, or just interact in "Japanese" only, he won't even know. On Twitter for example.
I think interacting at all without knowing Japanese and having experience talking with someone who lived there would draw attention quick. Just look at a couple of Nihon accounts, look up what the names mean, combine them and slap on a landscape or flower pfp. There, now you have what looks like a lazy follow account that his eyes might not even focus on if he's paranoid enough to check his followers.

That is so true, make a Japanese account and follow only Japanese accounts, and if he dares to interact for some kind of validation, just use Google translate. To help Asimofu's paranoia, the only cure I can give him is to smoke some weed, and lots of it. He's lucky that none of the people he's blocked are vengeful, they could possibly have his X/ Twitter account nuked. I noticed he didn't censor any of his posts. And I don't think that is chibi now that I think of it... Not that it matters, but I think on that platform that is against TOS.
Any form of recreational drug will basically destroy your on both a legal and social level in Japan. Voice Actors have basically been unpersoned because they got caught smoking a little weed. Straight up black listed from the industry. It's kinda fucked.

Succubus Hunter It's how the country has grown to be and has pretty much always been I believe since in the samurai era (the west's Feudal era just after the dark ages) it was maybe even stronger of the importance of being honorable and such which did mean if anyone broke anything law or tradition then it was like becoming an pedophile and your family by association. Very few ways could make up for it with the one that everyone knows as being seppuku though how you acted through that changed on how people took your "apology" and then treated your family.
That is what I roughly know but I know that I most likely have it wrong in more than a few ways in terms of specifics but I'm aiming for an overview kinda to show that things have relaxed in a way since.

For the porn industry it's an shunned industry especially when the norms aren't followed which I don't believe this game follows so Dev is risking more than an Western Dev in being found out and also shows a bit of their passion for this. Though is also why I won't expect anything from this game until it comes out as enjoying what we got is good enough for me than not having it at all.

From a moral relativity perspective porn creation or drug use depends on one's priorities and perspective. For us in the West which generally prioritizes individualist / hedonist freedoms , drug or porn use seems harmless as it doesn't directly 'impact' anyone else's body. But from a collectivist outlook, it shames family and community and often has trade-offs on productivity/educational attainment/finding a quality partner and thus reduces family resources or opportunities.

Anyway, us 'gaijin' often take on an individualist-centrism perspective that rationalizes the above as well as a missionary-like proselytizing (which Japan has a painful history with). From some Japanese standpoints, the Western perspective suggests we know better and therefore are entitled to offer our opinions/judgments without permission or consideration. As a result many see Western 'gaijin' folk tending to overlooking family/community impact or harvesting/appropriating other's hard work without permission or recompense.

Obviously, prevailing Western thought can make it's own arguments and criticisms of collectivism and Japanese culture, though it's hubris to presume we, or that they are 'right'. IMO, the rest is usually rationalization in favor of our values and interests. My point overall, is try not to judge his attitude over-much, the presumption of knowing better would likely just reinforce it.

This article explains:

But if you're not into translating, here's the deal:

He had medical problems and it took so much out of him basically. He's going to continue as he's still rehabilitating.

This really depends on the drug in question, someone on bathsalts is pretty likely to harm not just themselves but people around them. Also despite what some people claim, porn is not a drug (lmao) and unless it's CP or something there's nothing wrong with watching it, that stinky opinion can go right in the trash.

As you indirectly help me point out, most folk do not even consider or rationalize away impacts (in this case systemic impacts) of what they like or benefits them individually. I do it, you do it, so it's no surprise that different cultures do it in their own ways. Anyway, probably too meta and discomfort/anxiety invoking for this setting. I'll stop derailing.

What are folks finding most compelling about LoE, for me it's the animated immersion and non-stop action.

Yep the game for me is unquiely interesting even if you take out everything but how the combat smoothly goes to sex combat animation...I feel like I'm safe in saying that out of 100k games if not more have such a thing....when you add in everything else...you can see why anyone who likes any one of those things is watching the thread and will jump on it as soon as an update occurs.

I just found out about this game why is it abandoned?
Welcome to the oddity that is the abandoned tag. It's kinda a misnomer as it usually does not actually mean what you think it means. Games which have not seen an update in a long time get it, but it does not mean the game is actually dead. Y'know, unless explicitly stated. This is one of those cases where it's just been a longass time since the game saw an update, but the Dev IS working on it.

On F95 it means (as for current rules) that ongoing game:
- hasn't been updated in 3 months, including third party sites OR
- thread hasn't been updated with new version of game for 18 months despite creators activity.

This game? Not counting small patches there was no worthwile update for two years now.
Maybe it will change now since dev came back from dead, maybe not, we just don't know.
