Im on their discord. ngl. I havent heard a lot either lately. Im giving them 1 buck per month cause I know them personally and I know they mean well. But there has been a bit of a shortage of developments lately.
Kingdom of Deception could fall into limbo or abandoned completely, but I do hope that what we are all feared doesn't come to fruition. KoD is such a good game and what a waste if left abandoned.

Last release i made a comment that these developers were absolutely milking their patrons and were delivering the bare minimum amount of content to keep taking their money. While I still believe that has been the case for the past few updates, the news released by the devs that they acknowledge they're underperforming and have hired additional staff to improve upon the game actually brings a little light at the end of the tunnel. We'll be able to judge for ourselves next release, but I'm cautiously optimistic that they may actually turn things around. Seeing a dev own up to their failings and work to correct them is almost unheard of on patreon games like this, so i give them props for that at least.

On the contrary it's actually super common for them to "own up" to their mistakes and continue to make them, new staff or not.
Sometimes they'll even go ahead and shit on the people giving them money afterward too.
I'm just hoping this doesn't get copyright-free and suddenly show up on Epic Games.

Actually nevermind that'd be fucking hilarious.

That's true. I suppose that saying they're working to correct them is premature. Guess we'll see in the coming releases if nothing changes or if improvements are actually made.

I hope my cynicism is proved wrong but it's hard to be optimistic at this point, for me anyway.
There's lots of people who see this is a turning point. We'll see.

Yeah. Started out as a good nice project.
Hickups happen, sometimes an update is late because something goes wrong.
Sometimes they prioritize the engine over the actual gameplay or story, but thats fine, its good long-term.

But it kind of got a bit straining when there were interruption and delay after delay or releases with little to no knew content. Then the whole "out of country" story and all that jazz. Oh boy.

Look, everbody has troubles, thats fine. But I cant just tell my boss "sorry dude I cant come to work for the next month cause there is this girl and you know Im gonna be flying to the Phillipines now and stuff". But sure, this is not like an actual working job, its freelance I get that, he doesnt owe us anything in the end. But then to go have trouble AGAIN where you cant do anything. Cmon Bruh.

And before anybody says anything, I actually was a patron for a couple of months before this bullshit started.
Just hoping things go back to how they were before this whole ordeal and this doesnt turn into another dead game cash cow.

I was supporting him too for a while, I don't recall when I stopped but it was around the time he started coming up with more excuses than updates. The Philippines trip made me reconsider re-pledging.
With a whole team to work on the game surely he can't fugg it up that bad. :LLLL

It's a Krystal game, my dude. It can't get more cursed than it is.
Instead, we should actually be trying to jinx it so it gets even more cursed and eventually underflows into being finished early with 30 hours of content.
IRL RNG manipulation.

all you guys saying is right i think that too but still i intent to be positive my problem with them was they are earning too much for just 2 man project they should hire more ppl but now they did hire a team and starting from scrap.
I have a little hope that this might work cause they are not a 2 man project anymore but a whole team if they still make excuses even after making a game from the starting point then nothing can be said about this project.

Hiring new people to work on this game, especially with the amount they were earning on Patreon, is definitely a good idea - they have more than enough resources to spread around in order to hurry the project up (and expand on the scope in the process)... But, just exactly who are these new people?

We only know that "Gizmo is a coder", that "Archie is an animator that has worked on some impressive projects", and that Vlademir Romanov is a "writer/director". Not only are their descriptions exceptionally vague to their previous work, but their names are so ubiquitous that there's no way to look them up. Believe me, I tried. Anyone know about their previous work?

There also appears to be no other trello board moderated by Abelius, and no new members have been added to the old one.

Edit: There's a user on the forums going by the name of Gizmo1206 that Abelius corresponded with, could that be the aforementioned programmer?

Is it possible to be fully naked in this 0.8 current build. I've maxed out every stat and pretty much seen all of the scenes.

Long story short:

- VladimirRomanov that places himself right now as a writer/director has already worked on LOK:Re in the past - he is one of the main collaborators and can be considered to be one of the ground developers from the start. As far as I understood, story that you have expirienced so far is by a large margin story that he himself designed for LOK:Re and he was the one who wrote the majority of dialogues and characters up to this moment.
As far as I understand he and Abelius had some kind of work-wise problems, which is why they later decided to stop working together. But as we can see right now - it seems that Abelius changed his mind and wellcomed Vladimir back.
What does it mean? It means that the story and characters and dialogues should stay the same way as they were - they will be changed here and there, but their very concept will not be altered. Whihc imo is a good thing, because so far I really enjoyed it.

- I tried to ask about Gizmo's (current new and the only one coder from now on) past, but it seems that he preferred to stay more or less Anonymous. Dev-s and collaborators didn't provide any info on him.
Though they said that he has AAA-game expirience and that he should be able to manage this game as a breeze.

- Archie, who is a new senior animator, on the other hand decided to share his portfolio.
You can check them out through the links that he provided via discord:

There also was mentioned that he contract-worked for WayForward (if that says something to you).

- Abelius from now on is going to be managing ONLY animations under supervision from Archie (since Archie seems to have much more expirience in animating department under his belt). No more scenery+dialogue+animating+coding all at once for Abel.

- Kuja is still the one and only artist of LOK:Re that we all know and love.

So yeah, thats basically what I know from hanging in the public discord.

P.s. Yeah, it seems that Trello will no longer be a viable thing. Maybe at all, since they are goign to revamp the whole project. So yes, R.I.P. LOK's Trello.
