Dropping by real quick to post the progress Kuja made on the new model last night.
Aside from the amputee bait in the middle, I think it's starting to look up for this project - especially from what I heard on the stream yesterday!
Looks like pregnancy will be a minor thing at best, with no general support. From the Discord FAQ:
Q: Will there be pregnancy?
A: NO.
Q: Will some characters be pregnant?
A: Maybe.
If KRYSTAL is ever going to appear Pregnant or be a Futa, such things will ONLY happen for SPECIFIC scenes. Otherwise it would require the reanimation of every single sex scene in the entire game.
And we are not going to do that in any stage of the game.
Fuck Off, just Fuck Off. Can I get my fucking porn story driven Game? Just let me make some dialouge choices be a little slutty with foxy and let me jack off to some Lizardthat is turning Krystal into Slutpet. I don't need this to be AAA title with some nonsense feautres like platform fights and stuff. They are not DEV TEAM they are just some Artists and a Writer with Coder or two just play to your strenghts and make nice Narrative Porn game with choices and diffrent endings for god sake I FUCKING DEAMND YOU TO DO THIS I DEMAND YOU TO BOW TO MY DEMANDS SINCE I'M INCARNETION OF just fuck off with your bullshit rework

I know right? The amount of entitlement it takes to get there like the foot and preg and futa fetishists, its just like dude, its going to be a free game and there are other games that'll cover your fetish, calm the fuck down.

I don't advocate for any particular fetish I'm just bitter because I spent about 50€ on this project (it may not be much but I could get something nice for this kind of money) and they decided to scrap whole project and start new. I'm just getting tierd of "Game Developers" that try to do something they are not capable of doing. I did't exept from them nothing unresonable, Just that they continue with Main Story add some new Jobs/Quest more scenes.

While I can 100% understand you feeling miffed about having dropped 50 euro on this project only to have them start from scratch again, I do think that the reasons they have given seem reasonable enough. As someone who has written bad code in the past, I can only say that once you've already written your code down a hole, there's nothing you can do to "fix" it unless you rewrite everything from scratch. Abelius has stated on multiple occasions that he's a hobbyist coder, and that the systems that he built (or rather, the plugin he built upon) for old LOK:R became too cumbersome to develop for. The hiring of a "AAA" programmer just means that they will have the resources to build a game using his (Gizmo's) tools, and not bogging down the code with needless "if" clauses that should otherwise be handled semi-automatically.
I'd wager that the main reason why new scenes took so long to implement was that Abelius was probably hard writing them into code instead of auto-generating a language.json file from a script/scene manager that the game could then read from, which is standard practice. With Gizmo there, new scenes can be made using such a manager. Restarting was really their only option if they wanted to speed up development (although, I still think some of the art could have been kept). If the demo isn't any good, or if the new trello doesn't see much activity when released, then I'd say you can start complaining for real :>

All of this, just all of it. If you spend any amount of time in the discord you get tons of info on the state of the game and its development. Since the rebuild development has been pretty fast now, bottlenecked mostly by the artists but thats okay because if thats the bottleneck then that means we're getting good art and designs for this. Also with this uptick in speed and development they're making the game's scope bigger than before, you're not gonna be limited to just that one single trible, they've even teased an image of one of the zones which appeared to be a merchant stop. Seriously, go to the discord and quit your whining, they're working and doing damn well at it!

As far as I understand the problem is not that they decided to revamp the game from 0, making the better code, but the idea of revamping the game in entire new way gameplay-wise.
Before the revamp LOK:re was a Porn game first with rpg elements being secondary (that should've been added in the future). Now Vlad wants to make an RPG game first with porn elements being secondary, making the focus on the RPG rather than porn. And a lot of people are not into that idea.
Majority of people who look for that game are looking simply for a jack-off material in an intriguing setting, maybe with an interesting story and set up. Much less people are looking into a game to actually play it like any game on the usual mainstream-game market. So when people hear Vlad's idea of making the game entirely SFW-able they immediatly understand that the time that could be used for more porn (- the stuff they are looking for) is going to be used to make aspect of the game they were not even looking into.
Also hearing all the plans that game is going to have is questionable just becuase of the sheer amount of them. There are only 5 developers, but Vlad wants to have a KotOR-like game with tons mechanics and animations. Its pretty ambitious... too ambitious for some people.
People that found out about the game before the revamp fell in love with its unique style and fairly easy game play - it was (like some people on discord say) a novel, and they were totally fine with it. They simply wanted more of it. But now its going to be a full-fledged game first, and as one, it will have to sacrifice some porn aspects it could've had, if it would focus on them rather on RPG gameplay.
Instead of making more sexscenes - they make combat animations. Instead of making more polished and deep characters story lines (like what Cenvir had in 0.8) they will make more characters jsut to make the world seem huge, renouncement pregnancy mechanics at all jsut because its hard, and so on...
You have to also understand that people lived and watched the game devloping to what it was for 2 years. They gave their money for 2 years. They were expecting this game to progress for 2 years. And now suddenly game makes 360 and says that it goes another way.
You should also include communication problems of the team that they are trying to get rid of recently.
Those are my thoughts and what I feel like of what is going on.
Personally Im not a big fan of the entire KotOR idea. Yeah, I love that game and think that its one of the best RPGs done ever, but it was done by a huge team of professionals that wanted to focus on the story first and foremost.
Vlad told me that he finds disgusting the idea that this game could be a dating simulator where you just choose which lizard will fuck K, but I saw that kind of gameplay pretty interesting since their personalisation of characters was pretty good and it worked for me.
Now I honestly have no idea of what is coming. Im not a fan of KotOR's combat and I dont care that much about RPG systems in porn games myself, though I love a good story.
New model of K (by the way there it is if you haven't seen her yet) is not as appealing to me personally as the previous one, since this one is done out of the idea appealing to a bigger audience and easier development, rather than personal invision of the character as it used to be before the revamp.
Though feet turned out pretty well .
Previously I wanted to support the game, but now I'm simply confused. I'll wait out for their demo AND a couple patches that is to come after with story and plot, before making the final judgement.
What about you? What kind of game do you prefer? A Porn game with rpg elements? Or an RPG game with porn elements?
This idea that we're making porn secondary is actually infuriating me. The ability to play the game without experiencing porn **was always** planned. This is a game with EQUAL parts porn. Every single quest will be designed with porn in mind. The toggle is just there as a way to easily avoid it if you want to say, play a fun game and record it on youtube. We're not sacrificing anything, nothing was changed in that regard.

OH FOR FUCKS SAKE THE PORN IS NOT BEING SIDELINED, IF ANYTHING ITS VERY MUCH STILL IN THE GAME WITH A SIGNIFICANT PRESENCE, THEY'RE JUST ADDING IN A WAY FOR YOU TO AVOID THE PORN ALL TOGETHER IF YOU WANT TO JUST EXPERIENCE THE GAME!
Maybe if you were on the discord you could've asked the questions you needed to ask in order to clarify your lack of information on this. Laziness is no excuse for ignorance.

Game will have 2 ways to play. 2 ways to play requires more time for development. That exact time is going to be taken to develop a game without porn elements. Imagine how much more hentai scenes or story you could've done instead. You have a lot of new mechanics in mind that you want to add: follower system, races on the pterodactyl, various platforming and combat mechanics, player customisation, talents and skills and a whole bunch of other things. All of that will eat your time instead of making hentai content. Why? Because you decided to prioritze RPG elements over porn, this is why porn for you is now somewhat secondary. You also decided to cut some very popualr ideas like slavery route and pregnancy mechanic, which are hard to make yes, but these 2 thigns were very expected by the community.
I'm not saying there will be no porn, or there will be to little of it, but having a small team and your scale that you planned... You will have to make some cuts or have a far-far longer development sycle.
I've talked to you a several times and each time you gave me a clear understanding that you want to prioritise RPG elements. Even the way you make your story is a way more RPG-ish and serious, making it look like an actuall game for an open public rather than a hentai product (nothing wrong there though - I like that story will be more detailed and empathizable).
Basically everything you made so far felt like porn is somewhat secondary. Not saying that it is - but it just feels like it.
It wont be secondary? Great! After you show me that, I will eat my own words and support you financially in creating a great game. Prove me wrong.

First of all - chill. You won't change anyone's mind behaving like this.
Second, there is no game yet, so you cant tell me "its in the game". We shall see how its in the game and how its implemented when the game is actually out. Until then I can presume whatever I feel the project is going for, since they are limited in resources and they are no Bioware to pull out actuall KotOR.
Third, oh what do you know, I actually was on discord for a long time and asked things and in terms of knowledge I know far more than an average site dweller. And from all the conversations there I got that exact feeling. I once asked Vlad if the amount of every character's progression is going to be as long or maybe longer as what Cenvir has in 0.8 and I got an answer: "No. They are actually going to be somewhat shorter than what Cenvir currently has"
Some time has passed though and maybe his view on that question has changed, but if characters are going to have even less story/progression what current Cenvir has... well, its too bad.
In terms of playing the porn game without porn... I guess I'm missing the core idea here, because I don't see why would you want to do that, if the entire core idea of the project is to see a certain popular character being banged. And majority of patrons want to see exactly that.
This question has been so long in the air that I actually wonder, if devs create a second Patreon and say that its going to be the same game, but without hentai content - how many people will support it? And if we do the same thing for the 1st one but make it hentai only. I wonder which one is going to make it until the actuall end.
I really love games that pride themselves on not only having porn, but also being able to give you a great, non-repetitive and enjoable gameplay experience that makes it worth playing the game even if there was no porn in it. I applaud them for wanting to go down that road, but I here is the issue:
Every single game (without exception) that I have seen so far out of the patreon created independently developed or otherwise crowdfunded adult game market that was not in any way tied to bigger publishers or had bigger teams (if those even exist), has not fulfilled their ambitions.
At some point the project had to make sacrifices. You either had the cases where the developer eventually had to focus on the gameplay, making the h scenes secondary. Or they turned back to focus on the h scenes, not leaving them enough time to include all the great gameplay things they promised. Or, they split the parts equally and ended up with not enough focus on either, resulting in months after months of tiny updates that had barely any new playable content or story paths or scenes to speak of, updating with a new patch once a month that added 2 new scenes and a gameplay system that couldnt even be used at because the environments and enemies that it would have needed weren't even ready yet. Many of these projects took years and years and eventually either had a very disappointing ending that felt like the developer was just sick of developing it and wanted to be done with it as quickly as possible or got abandoned along the way.
This is my big issue. I can not - and I hope really Im wrong - but I can not imagine how all those things they spoke about in their posts, the gameplay elements and systems, mini-games, jobs and branches are supposed to have regular 1 - 2 month updates that are BIG ENOUGH to satisfy the audience and the patreon supporters with only 5 people working on the game. I really cant. Even highly polished Indie Games take years to make and save in certain categories when it comes to game length, animations, etc to even be released in the end, and the number of people working on them (1 - 15 people, not ,mentioning all the stuff that is being outsourced and commisioned for the game) is often comparable.

I kinda hate it to be honest. It looks nothing like Krystal. She looks like some kind of Egyptian cat instead of a fox and it all lacks the appeal of the old art style.
