Seeing how some people are not in favour of the game just wanted to say a couple of words myself about it.
A lot of peopel don't like the game as it is and I completely understand and kinda even support their thoughts. Lets look at those:
- Theres too little content, theres nothing to do.
Its true and not at the same time. Yes, theres too little H-content as if right now and in that departamnt I absouletly agree. Theres only a couple of scenes that player gains access to and theres no staright up mainstream sex being implemented just yet. I totally understand when people find this kind of stuff disappointing, but you also have to understand that this is story+dialog-driven game and in terms of dialog I found myslef really satisfied due to amount of different dialog possibilities and options. Also you ned to understand that this game follows a very old-schoolish path, that a lot of modern gamers are not really familiar with, nor do they enjoy that kind of gameplay. Personal likes and dislikes still function, and theres nothing wrong or bad with it, if you don't like walking around the map and talk to characters, if you don't care about the story or personalities - this game is just not for you then, and its absoulutely OK. In original LOK there was almost none of it, and in terms of story I found myself VERY interested in this version, since authors tend to show different personalities and little things that I can appreciate and enjoy. In terms of H-content... yeah... theres too little of it just yet and I completely understand people that are unsatisfied with it. HOWEVER you need to understand that this game is not even near to be done. I tend to offten look at dev-s Trello plans and I should say that they have an insane amount of ideas and plans towards this game and once they are implemented, gamers should find really a lot of different content. As if right now I don't think dev-s have implemented even 25% of their ideas. Hell, they haven't even implemented the "slave path" that promises to be focused strictly on "K being drilled since day 1" which sounds exactly what people are waiting for (well at least some of them).
- Dev-s get so much money from Pateron, yet they barely do anything.
Yes, they have a pretty good amount of income, while being only 2 of them. But just because they get money doesn't mean their affort will rise the same way. They are 2 people, and an ordinary human being has just so much time a day until he gets exausted. In my own expirience there are times where you can work 12+ hours a day, but that comes at a price lately. Dipression is a real thing, being out of "artsteam" is a real thing, simply being tired all-in-all is a real thing. And when you get those things its really hard to get rid of them. No, you don't stop working at all ofcourse, but your overall productivity goes straight to hell. In order not to get those, man should have an optimized amount worktime a day that suits him the best. Surely that means there will be a little bit less content overall, but in terms of the generall picture you shoould see a btter results. I think you should give dev-s a slack, they are only humans after all, just as all we are. Also having a large number of income doesn't mean there will be more working force implemented, since not every develeoper targets the idea of becoming an entire game developing studio. They are not TeamNimbus, nor they are WildLife project. They are 2 guys who simply want to create a good game they care about, being able to feed their families while they are at it. The ammount of support people are able to give them only shows the ammount of people that hope this game will come out great, thats it.
- Some parts of the game are ridiculously boring and lackluster, to be more concrete - walking and mapdesign.
I absoulutely agree. Walking in this game does feel like a chore and to a newbie that is not familiar with the map, its design at the first glimpse does look ridiculous and a total clusterfuck. They first time I played the game I didn't really want to talk to anyone, I just wanted to see K drilled, thus I skipped all the dialogue and tried to speed through the game, but map design was literally unreadable, and the very first quest where you need to find everyone and talk to them was a reall nightmare. Only after stopping my horses, and taking a good amount of time to get familiar with the map, with the characters, spending around 30 minutes just to understand how paths work and where and whose tent is, did I finally understood how to get around this game without problems. By stopping myself I aslo found out that dialogue in this game is just amazing. The amount of personality dev-s putting in this game is just really cool. Every single character in this game is a person - everyone has a past, a story to share (and an insatiable lust that you'll need to uncover ofcourse). By stopping my horses and giving a time to this game to uncover itself I really fell in love with it. Thus said walking does still bothers me everytime I play, theres no way around it - its just too slow and boring and when K needs to cover huge distances game immidately loses points.
I have to aknowledge that this game is surely not for everyone. Its basic idea holds a lot around the concept "walking and talking" and not everyone likes this kind of content.
But all in all I personally really love this game and it just hurts to see people saying its trash just becuase right now it is at its ground stage development. I follow a few games developed at this time and I shoudl say that LOK:Rebirth has one of the most positive feelings I have expirienced so far. It has really attractive artsyle, good animations, interesting storyline and characters, dev-s allways look for the opportunities to increase stability and optimize the game so in the future there wouldn't be any clusterfuck with the code they've done in the past and I can appreciate it. Throughout the entire game I've encountered 1 bug with Vanlen where he doesn't do his animations thus I had to dowload the latest save, which was the first and the last time I've encountered any kind of bug at all. I think LOK:R is one of the (if not the most) optimized and bug-free expirinces I've yet to encounter and that should be saying something about the project. Also you really need to understand that as if right now LOK:R is at its very base stages. Out of 5 reputations story levels only 1 has being implementd, and they are not done even with it. And I'm not even talking about the "slave path" that should be alternative way to play the game all by itself but with "H-action" right from the start. In terms of potential this game is pure gold in my opinion and I just can't wait for what is to come in the future. Just give this game chance and time to develop itself and I'm sure that you'll love it if you're into this kind of stuff.
P.s. A lot of text in the end, and English is not even my native language. Sorry if I made your eyes bleed - that was not my intention, I simply wanted to have a say about this project since I find it very attractive to myself. If you were able to read till here - thank you for your time and patience, I appreciate that.
