For me, it's the same as when I read erotica: I want background on the characters, and I want the relationships to be genuine and believable; I want the sex to have stakes and meaning. It doesn't always need to be romantic, but I do want a connection, something that feels real. But with that being said, when I come here, I'm looking for something I (and sometimes my girlfriend) can get off to. If I want romance, I watch a show, a movie, or, you know, regular games. I don't like when porn doesn't have porn in it or when non-porn has too much porn. I like to keep the two separate.

Both, for me, sex is the height of trust and connection between two people, so I really like it when the game shows all this development in a relationship before the characters have sex but, of course, I wouldn't expect that from a porn game but it's really nice when it happens.

Unfortunately I would have to go for the latter. I feel like I should like the former more, and as someone with more of an interest in DiD and BDSM-ish topics, the lack of sex in those games endlessly frustrates me... but the games are basically useless to me when it's just the sex, so I guess that wins by default. I can at least get 90% of the way there setting the scene like usual and play out the rest in my mind. Just so long as the games at least hint at some sex going on or set up some interesting possibilities.

Hell, I usually start skipping the actual dialogue and descriptions in sex scenes once the point is across because by then they all run together.
Oh my god, they're roommates.
This is pretty fucking good! Feels like playing through a very horny and very sapphic sitcom, and the game is very much aware of that. It's fast-paced and isn't afraid of being cringe. The entire game is so refreshing. The writing is solid, and the dialogue is great, especially for a porn game. The characters are compelling, well-written, hot, and actually feel lesbian! Hell, even the music is a breath of fresh air. I would honestly be surprised if this was not written by an actual lesbian™. For those of you who said you are looking for a slow-paced one-on-one romance, this is probably not for you. But if you are looking for something short, hot, funny, and queer, I wholeheartedly recommend this.

The second one, kind of. I've realized that I love a good enemies to lovers story and have a very weird relationship with burned in the past characters, burned as in they've been through something that has forever marred their ability to love and trust. In that sense it's not that I like things that are lovey-dovey, but I like things that have the characters actively try to achieve that or having a epiphany.
idk something about watching a relationship develop is nice, especially when there are obstacles in the way.

Well, to a point. Stuff like social commentary or character flaws can add a bit of spicy drama, but grimdark stuff is just too miserable to be anything but frustrating. I guess if you're covering serious stuff; take it seriously.

Depend of the theme, Psychological Dark? I'm already cuckoo in the head so no need to see another me. Horror with Dark subject on the other hand is my Top List beside a Yuri Game with a REAL GAMEPLAY. Honestly I can say "Little Goody Two Shoes" on Steam is my kind of Game it have Horror, Yuri, and actual gameplay instead of light novel.
I will sounds rude of saying this but Visual Novel need an extremely good writer to make it works. If it is just a Sex Lesbian Visual Novel where the plot is just "Slice of Life of a Girl" without anything interesting going on it is quite meh for me. Light Atmosphere thing usually have the same plot so I need it to be interesting like for example "MC is an Idol" or "MC have Magic" is an interesting light atmosphere visual novel for me. I rarely prefer something normal. So I will say I prefer Dark subject more because it usually include Horror. Kinda remind me that there is also a weird Yuri Horror called "The Elevator Game with Catgirls". So i usually like Neutral or Dark atmosphere despite not liking Psychological(As in the character is crazy).
I will only play a Visual Novel if it have a cool story and an Anime-ish portrait, I can the only realistic art style I can say like is just Hone Select and Koikatsu other than that I usually prefer 2D even if it is a drawing without color.

Honestly i find it funny how people keep saying that Shoujo-Ai is just "what people think Lesbian relationship would be like" but never comment on how weird normal romance really are and say "Romance genre are what people would think Straight relationship look like". It is like saying "Lesbian would never imagine their relationship to be like this." when some Lesbian wish to have those Manga-like relationship too just like how Straight people wishing to have Romance Manga Relationship too.

I mean... I used that specific lens for a reason; The stereotypical basic guy does dismiss standard romance as girly fantasies. In fact they'd probably lump it in together with the lesbian romance as typical wall-of-text girly stuff with no sex. I suppose you could take that as the opinion of "people" if you're going mainly off of who plays porn games, as basic guys seem vastly more catered to than anyone else, but... eh, that's a different rant. All I'm saying is that I think porn games could be much better than they are, and that means moving beyond the games themselves being nothing but delivery vehicles for porn content. Lesbian stuff tends to get closest to that, in my experience.
