A good way to achieve this is to cancel any kind of Patreon or financial support for games that start putting futanari or strap on or things like that.
"If it is for the female protagonist to act like a man, then it is a game with a man. And if I wanted that I have several other devs to support and not you. Bye!"
At least that's what I do

I'm curious - is that with regards to specific types of games, or any/all? Not trying to sound combative or anything and feel free to tell me to fuck off if you don't want to say, I'm just trying to understand it.

Personally, I'm more into text-based games, and the specific sex acts don't matter so much to me as the fact that it's two (or more) women going at it. While the act is visually similar (and so I kinda get why it may be seen as lazy to do scenes with them, but it's not a dealbreaker for me), I find the dynamic is way different when it's someone with a penis trying to orgasm vs someone with a penis-like object trying to make someone else (or themselves) orgasm, and the difference is night-and-day in well written stuff. Though I don't exclusively like lesbian content so maybe something else is seeping in. I dunno for sure, but I find the thought processes behind this shit fascinating.

Particularly, I am not a fan of pure text game because English is not my mother tongue and that would make me miss some moments or nuances of the scenes for not fully understanding the language.
So, in particular, the pure text game might or might not have that kind of content since I'm not exactly the target audience.
Also, reading sex scenes doesn't appeal to me very much, because it's something that ends up getting repetitive over time.

Now, you said that you think someone with a penis trying to have orgasms is different and a person with a simulated penis trying to make someone else have an orgasm.
I mean, then, a game with a male character is, in general, a game with a selfish character who is trying to satisfy himself only. There is no need for an answer because we know that, in general, it is. It is always that rascal guy, with a huge penis and taking women with giant tits trying to corrupt the loving mother, the silly younger sister and the older sister who mistreats you. A really beaten cliché.
In lesbian games, most of them have some history and more emotion involved.
And if you think that a well-written sex thing involving a nice dildo, you may miss how well a well-written lesbian sex scene can actually be much more interesting and you may also find that the use of toys, strap on and etc. be a lazy resource.

Shield High (RAGS, Abandoned) - Pure lesbian, text-based game about enslaving or being enslaved in an all-girls school. Kinda story-light outside of those fights and some short romance paths IIRC. Topic here is a bit out-of-date though, recommend getting the 0.53 version from the blog. Gameplay could be a bit clunky because it's RAGS, but I love the scenes in the game. Some of the ones in the new engine are even better but it's pretty crashy and didn't get far.

That's a pretty fair point. I have a hard enough time with MTL on RPGM games, can't imagine what it'd be like enduring that with little to no visuals to fill in the blanks.

Mostly agree here. I went off most Male MC games way before the landlady and roommate harem meta started up as I just never got the whole "bang everyone you meet" thing. The few games that I saw do anything beyond that still kinda focus on the dude's gratification and it bores me so much. I mean, the women in those games orgasm, sure, but rarely intentionally and usually as an ego-boost for the MC doing the sex good.
I started on Female MC games because they seemed to be the only ones doing anything interesting (to me) and mostly haven't turned back; Lesbian games on top of that tend to be the best of those.

And if you think that a well-written sex thing involving a nice dildo, you may miss how well a well-written lesbian sex scene can actually be much more interesting and you may also find that the use of toys, strap on and etc. be a lazy resource.
I can see what you mean there, but would counter that with two points:
1) Unfortunately, there's probably not enough lesbian content out there that I'm going to miss out on a great scene because I was content with a good scene. At least, if I still eliminate games that seem low-effort or have art that doesn't appeal to me, if art-focused. IIRC there's a few lesbian VN's on my to-play list and that's about it? A few stories on CHOYA too if I expand it to non-games.
2) I do like non-toy scenes too, it's more just... it's less about what you have, and more in how you use it, that I find interesting. I'll take a great non-toy scene over a good toy scene because I'll take great over good, but I'm not really torn up over something staying pure... unless we mean a pure girl in a first-time scene or something. I'd even argue toy use can work better than not for certain fetishes but that only really matters if you're into said fetishes.
