I don't know what this is doing to my fear to spiders. I would have to see it moving around to figure it out...
You'd have only seen that dialogue if you've been sleeping with Sara. Sana really doesn't want you around Sara for reasons she isn't willing to admit yet, maybe even to herself. (The last chat you had with her was the condoms in Sara's room)
Correct and, I've already gathered that much.
Not sure where you're reading that, but Sel has at this point already put work into the reset puzzles, punishing people who follow a guide for the answers and skipping through his events. I could see him pulling the same trick and locking you out of progressing the game if you tried going to the next reset without seeing this happy event, which is manually triggered.
The puzzle guide txt on the first page.
So basically being marked as a cheater doesn't do anything at the moment?
I hope you read discussions about them and protected yourself. If you've loaded them into the game I can't guarantee how safe you'll be. Maybe make a backup of your saves outside of the game folder just in case.
That's the thing. I have to go out of my way to read god knows how much text before I know exactly how protected I have to be. The disable drm thing doesn't properly explain much, I don't know if it's been updated, I don't know what files to put in etc. Now what I do know however is that if it ONLY apply to the game folder the care packages are in at the moment, I should be 100% safe, both because it should already be saving in user data somewhere but also because the care packages are on a separate folder standalone from the one that doesn't have the care packages installed. Also I have a copy of the save folder in my pc's trash can that's half a day of gameplay old. I'm debating going the extra mile by putting it on a usb stick. But honestly I wouldn't have to do anything if the information surrounding the care packages here was properly updated for dummies. I dunno, I'm just kinda pissed having walked in several circles with far too many unknowns. I never did put the disable drm thing on the folder hosting the care packages btw. That folder also has urm installed.
Because Sana and Sara are Sakakibaras. Not Sakibaras.
Uhuh...?
One of most hilarious scenes in the game.
Oh I don't know about most hilarious. I would say Karin fainting after tsuneyo asking what sex is was the best so far. Followed by Rin being told to not look down, does it anyway and sees his boner. Good times. This one was actually pretty tame in comparison, but humor doesn't affect everyone equally.

No, there's different cheater marks and different punishments. There's a generic cheater flag for using any of the stat modifying cheats and it punishes you at the start of chapter 3 or something by wiping all of your affection scores, setting a punished flag and preventing you from using the stat modifying cheats.

If you went to the reset that has the upside down bedroom and answered all the questions without seeing the happy event that had some of the answers in it, you would have reached the point where the two angels are talking to you, and then happy ami comes to insult you and close your game, hopefully you had a older save to fix it.

I'm assuming the next reset has a similar check and it would urge you to see the happy event that you just saw. Because I don't want to back and quote it, I believe youdidit appeared in previous happy events but didn't have a speaking role yet

It hasn't been updated nor had other people explain it properly cause few people were smart enough to figure out what happened. The drm is hidden within a image file of the dorms, and gui.rpy has a call to the file presumably to check it. The patched gui.rpy just deletes the call. I'm not sure if gui.rpy is updated often, I warn people using it to repatch every update but it gui.rpy updated in any meaningful way surely something would break from a file that's several years out of date.

I don't know if it's a specific moment that calls the drm, some other people have mentioned it'd happen when the game queries to load care packages but I feel you would have already been bitten by that.

I wouldn't call your saves safe just cause you had a separate install. renpy makes a backup of saves based on project name in appdata, and propogates later save changes to the other location. If the drm got you on your care package install, and then you load your main game without purging the corrupt saves in theory they'd overwrite the good copy of your saves.

separate USB disk is hella overkill, there's only so much fuck selebus and whoever he outsourced the DRM to have to find your saves. I'd say a backup of your saves folder outside of your LIL folder is secure enough. (though I just read the scripts for the care packages to avoid the issue entirely, though I guess I don't get to listen to memories.mp3 with the stray cat commentary like that)

Hell you said you have a save 'backup' that's only half a day old. You could probably just load that save at worst case and just leave unseen text skip off, then skip what text you have seen until something new comes up. Would only take a couple minutes like that.

Also, more fodder for the Yumi is actually tsundere in the beginning theory.

Adding something additional:
- Her being a tsun might have been certified by Maya ever since Ch1.
1737211542436.png
Whenever Sensei thinks Yumi is a tusn or when we think Yumi is a tusn, it carries a huge subjective wish with it, hoping that this meanie actually likes you deep down as we digest Yumi's every reaction in an intentionally biased way. The weight is very different when the same thing is stated by Maya, the game-certified, almost thoroughly objective observer of this strange universe. If Maya wasn't just joking along with it, that implies Yumi being a tsundere for Sensei must have been true and must have been observed by Maya at least in some past cycles. That, or at least once there was a Yumi so lovey-dovey that it permanently burnt into Maya's retina and subsequently made Maya classify Yumi as a tsundere whenever Maya saw Yumi being mean to Sensei.

- Another indirect piece is that, we've seen Yumi's comeback at Nodoka. Yumi will resort to violence when the trigger is right. So why didn't she do the same to Sensei when he forced that kiss? Why didn't she seek revenge afterwards or rather, why didn't she just push him off the bridge right at the spot? Why did she still have the will to sit with him on the grass and tell him to never ever do that shit again, instead of just going postal and rightfully yanking his dick off? What reason other than Sensei is already an important figure to Yumi that early in the game can make her response sensible? What behind that reason might not have to be romantic, but the fact that she berates someone important to her is already a textbook tsun behavior.

Yumi: WHAT THE FUCK DOES BERATE MEAN?!
Edit: I currently don't count Yumi having a hidden kink of being forced as one of the acceptable reasons; it feels too cheap and convenient of an out of the jail free card for something even Sensei regretted.

Why have stat editing cheats usable in the game if you are just gonna remove them later on? Does it also apply to urm and other methods? What if you committed to playing after having modified Ayane's lust for the beach event for the secret scene with that mystery girl?

Why allow players to miss happy events and then punishing them for looking up the information elsewhere? Are the events in which you get punished for not having seen the event but still answering the question right suppose to be unavoidable and if you answer incorrectly, can you still move on beyond that point? Non of this affects me, I'm just curious.

A save folder currently in the trash can that's a day old (I dunno, I just think it would be dumb of anyone to try to check the trash can for files, so I put it there for security reasons?). Then there is the version of the game with URM and the care packages that I don't actively play on. Then there is the main one without either that I actively play on. Then there is the appdata one. I imagine the the drm thing would check two locations, the folder that triggered the purge for the save files (so in this case the one with URM and care packages installed) and the appdata default location. So in the case that the saves do get purged, I should in theory just have to deleted the URM and care packages folder and the save folder in appdata and then load up the one in the main game folder which should create a new appdata with the save files. I imagine they should be the same, right? Only that the one in appdata takes priority. But with no save files in appdata, it should just fetch the ones from the main game folder, right? So there should be virtually no way for me to lose all my saves and the persistent file which updates regularly with whatever dialogue I have seen, unless I go about it in a stupid way. I don't even think I need a standalone save location if this were the case.
Also I don't know how to check the script or anything like that. Don't really bother learning. I do know I can check if the gui has been updated by taking the existing file and the downloadable file and putting them into a text comparison file. Anyone can do that pretty sure. But I wouldn't know where or what to look for in this case.

Personally, I don't like this theory LOL. It reduces her tsundere character to a mere byproduct of the time fuckery when I really wish she is just a dumbass tsundere.
You dislike it? Shit man, i've been operating under this explanation for so long now that the idea of questioning it kinda baffles me... i mean, it's fair to do so, but i think i'm too rusted on to budge, how would a Yumi who is already somewhat tsundere compute and function with all that chaotic time fuckery shoved into her head... even more tsundere i would think... it's not really a case of either/or, the time fuckery is just a force multiplier like it is for all the girls...

Sel is a pretentious dickhead answers all of these I have questions and that attitude lead to him both banned and getting his game promotion banned from here. (e.g How dare you peasants skip my happy events, I'm going to hide required information to complete the reset inside of them)

So there should be virtually no way for me to lose all my saves and the persistent file which updates regularly with whatever dialogue I have seen, unless I go about it in a stupid way. I don't even think I need a standalone save location if this were the case.
Yeah you should be able to cobble your saves back together with all of that. I don't think Sel has much file control outside of the LiL folder and the appdata folder.

Your biggest worry is him getting annoyed and putting a new piece of DRM in the game next update while running care packages.

Sel, is at his core a Brechtian. Him being a massive tool may be a character he plays to enhance the Brechtian experience, or he could be drawn to creating a Brechtian story because he is a massive tool.

What I mean by Brechtian, is a media form that expressly wishes the audience to never lose site of the medium (in this case an H-Game) while at the same time also confounding the audiences expectations of the medium. The basic idea of an H-Game, no matter the quality of the story or depth of the characters, is that we are here to goon. Probably to a bunch of fetishes we don't really want to partake in irl.

If you take a game like College Daze that has a similar set of fetishes and a genuinely fun story (if you actually care to take the time), they know that you're here to goon. Enjoy your rape and mind control and incest if that's your thing! Don't like that don't worry about it! Wanna just goon and see any content you want, here is a list of cheats!

Now, over here, it's giving you a hot H-Scene but then you also have to deal with the very real impact of your fetish? Oh is the ramifications of your fetish hurting *your* feelings? Maybe you don't wanna subject the girl I've made you care about to that? Locked out of content. You just came here to goon when I've written that many words? Ok fine. Here are some cheats. Enjoy going back to the start.

You may think that this is a shitty way of making art (I personally love it) but considering this game has 2480 pages of discussion and most of us are chomping at the bit for more, we all certainly do respond to it.

I mean, sure, I guess people can spend hours and hours of theory crafting, but when somebody brings legit crit into a porn game that has discussions of poetry theory in the porn game, everybody loses their minds....
Like, I’m not saying outright that you’re wrong, and Sel has shown that he’s great at Wikipedia and adding impressive theoretical shit to his game. But I honestly think that the analysis is giving him way too much credit. Dude’s very likely just a pompous conceited ass, and that’s ok. We accept it, since the art is good. The amount of analysis we have here is in SPITE of the writer, not because he’s secretly 4D chess gaming by being a douche.

Because, at his core, Selebus is a douche. Anything else he is, he is on accident.
So a strange alternative I have is to attribute her tsundere-ness to the effect of the circular time. In term of feelings toward Sensei, Yumi might be one of the few with multiple cycles of memories contradicting one another.

Personally, I don't like this theory LOL. It reduces her tsundere character to a mere byproduct of the time fuckery when I really wish she is just a dumbass tsundere.
I think she is just a dumbass tsundere. Yumi states that Akira is the one adult that never gives up on her, and yet she finds him creepy because the way he does that is through stalking and creepy ass detentions. This would naturally lead to the development of a "as tsundere as it can" be in real life. In other words, she's extremely lacking of an adult that won't give up on her, yet her only ever example of that is a creep.

Also, I've read her biography so I know what I'm talking about:

I just think it's a strange position to hold that while the art is good, because the author is a tool, it must be a happy accident. I said before that I'm not sure if "Sel" is a character he plays or if he is that giant of a dingus! I don't read the discord, and haven't really interacted with him at all. I'm not giving him credit, I'm giving the work credit. As I think most of us that actually play this game do, because if this isn't hitting, you'll scrub out before chapter 1 is finished.

What I *am* saying is that, whoever and whatever the author is, he's employing certain elements of craft. If you understand the craft he's employing you can theory craft better. But for the people that loath minor choices breaking their saves, or your game bricking bc you didn't see a Happy Event, or feeling cheated by finding out that you've locked yourself out of purity routes because you didn't get a full green run, understanding what kind of thing you're looking at will help you decided if you want to continue.

BC I think puzzles and this shit is only going to get more and more intense from here on out.

Like, I'm not even bringing up the Vivian Girls and what knowing that story might mean to what's actually going on. But I would bet money that the creator of the game knows all about it.

So I’m on board with the idea that being upset about the shit he does in the game isn’t useful, since the game is straight up trying to get you to stop playing. In that way, then he totally is doing that stuff on purpose. As for whether or not he’s playing a character, I can’t say. But I will say that you can make a game like this without being an asshole IRL, too. Even if we were to call Sel a “character” he plays, given how this game is so all consuming for him, and it’s been years and will be many more, is it still just a character at that point? Method acting is great until you end up yeeting yourself because you got in too deep.

I guess? I agree with you that the game does not want you to play it (which was why I was bringing up Brecht, a playwright that doesn't want you to watch his plays).

On the other hand since anybody only interacts with "Sel" the author, and nobody knows him irl, then I have to consider him a character and somebody who's every word should be taken as a grain of salt, or another way to parse wtf is going on in this game. Like, if we knew anything remotely real about the dude....

But I agree 150% that artists don't need to be assholes to make great art.
