oh... I didn't even notice this was updated... well I guess it's time to get back. Let's see if I can get through an update without fearing for my own wellbeing

edit: man he really just wants these people to fucking suffer for all eternity huh?

edit 2: Wow Imani just straight up rejects it if you try making her call him Sensei

I'm just gonna make this edit 3 really long this time edition:

In other words, do you know how there are sometimes specials from shows you like and they take the same characters and insert them in made-up scenarios that are outside the canon? This is what this dormwars felt like to me.
Bad timing aside, I don't have a problem with a standalone kind of update, per se. It's just that when it comes to Selebus, it really does feel like he's trying too hard. I enjoy the humorous situations and dialogues he's able to pull off whitin the plot, but when he writes an event that it's supposed to be funny on its own, he loses me most of the time. I don't know what you guys thought of Touka's comedy number but I was there thinking "yikes, this is going bad, please put Tsuneyo on the stage", just for Selebus to tell me through Kirin's voice: "damn, this girl is good eh?". Sure, bud.

In my case, the dorm wars makes me feel disconnected not only from the story but from the author as well. Just look at the difference when an event it is linked to the plot. Io's date was excellent, Rin's not so much but it had some nice moments. And overall I can't help of thinking of missed opportunities.

I mean, just for throwing a case in here: since in the last update it was time for Nodoka to come clean (not the full thruth but whatevs...) about Yumi aaand since there was an event that actually included a trial, wouldn't have been better having the girls trying to solve the Nodoka vs Yumi case? Could've been a good time to strike on Nodoka, usually unfazed but who was feeling vulnerable at the moment. Would be uncomfortable for Yumi as well, as much as she'd like to be vindicated she could feel more humiliated if the whole story gets revealed (and I know the "whole story" depends on flags, but come on, Selebus already showed that he can take a shit on red pathers). And, of course, Futaba being part of the jury would only make things juicer.

But nope, don't understimate the power of running jokes from chapter 1. Dead janitors, just like Rin's cursed dice, never get old I guess. I just feel bad on how the whole issue was solved man, I believe that we deserved more than "Yeah, I probably went a little overboard, whoopsies."

I agree, I thought Touka's routine was super boring. She just dissed Ami pretty much and that was it. At least Ayane x Tsuneyo was legitimately trying to be funny and then it became Tsuneyo causing everyone to be disgusted over a single specific thing. This one was just boring all the while.

I don't think the whole trial should have been about Yumi x Nodoka, but I think that it should have deviated in that direction. And at the end of the day nothing came out of it either "so Nodoka did do something" well, no shit, sherlock. Yumi has never assaulted someone either before or after, how on earth would it be for no reason (...)

Selebus' writing being off the entire chapter aside, these events should be opportunities to gather the entire cast and deal with things that were set up. The most glaring one right now should have been Ami and yet that is barely a thing. He does do it, Chika and Rin become a cute couple while Chika figuring out that she's jealous of Rin with Akira, rather than just of Akira with Rin. Noriko and Yumi become a couple of friends as well for everyone to see. Ami keeps raping Maya whenever she's angry. I just, I don't know, it could all be better.

The highlight for me was choosing Ayane a million times over because even the Io and Rin dates are also annoying due to random Selebus' whims. Notably the hand on camera during the Rin one, and the death ball incident right before the Io one which didn't let me take the "we found the hole" seriously at all. Honestly, I think it would have been much better for those two events to happen during a serious update rather than there.

Rin and Chika scenes were cute. First Ayane choice was amazing, the others not so much.

I loved the outfits of Uta and Makoto.
Are there any other positives to this update.

So... now that I've had time to think on this update... what in the world was the plan with the way things ended there... ALL that build-up, all that intrigue and for what? For it to just kinda... fizzle at the end? Break people apart even further?
Is this even more set-up for what I am still fully expecting to be a war arc of some sort. Like is this just splitting people off into factions for that?
I'm just confused by it... because at the same time it kinda feels like he's just continuously writing in this weird circle.. or maybe spiral?
I dunno... dude is a really fucking good writer... most of the time and it just makes me question if this has some greater purpose or if it's just to keep pumping out updates for even longer because money. Which is fair, dude can make his money however he wants, just would hate to see that impact the writing to a really bad extent.

I really think Sel brings out the doobie when it's Dorm Wars time. There's the plot, which is his usual style, but only barest semblance of it, and so mixed with absurd, illogical and somewhat insane events that you'll gloss over it, either by design or because of the ganja.

Also, do I really have to...? Because choosing the first choice while alot better will cause missing an event.

You may not want to. But you have to. And it will define you.

If you choose the first one it's red path, if you choose the second one you get "stomachache". This is the choice that sparked the real discussion between red path and green path from how harsh that event was. Obviously there were other meaningful choices before, like having sex with Ami - but that was so monumental that what you gain doesn't compare to what you lose.

Here, you'll lose one event, but that's pretty much it (the repercussions for it seem to be done by now). I'd choose green path, but follow your best judgement.
