I guess we have a fundamental difference of opinion. I have problems with some of the current direction of the main plot (though a lot of it is still very good), with character arcs that I think he bungled and the misplaced focus on Sensei's own development despite its glacial pacing, but my enjoyment of the metaplot and the mysteries hasn't diminished at all.
It's frustrating to not have specific questions answered because we're curious and we want to know now, but I don't think it becomes a writing failure until it's clear that the writer doesn't have any satisfactory answers. In any case, while we might not be getting the exact answers we want, we are still constantly learning other things. At times it feels like Selebus is stringing us along (I'm thinking about things like the boxes or Maya and Noriko's history), but I've never felt that he's stalling while he makes shit up as he goes. I think he's just had a specific pacing of reveals in mind from the start.
I doubt I'm going to convince you on "Il Cervo" but I still think it's worth trying to get across my point of view.

Sometimes when I read the thread I feel strange. I like the story Selebus writes, also Chapter 4. Many here seem not to enjoy, but they still read, and talk about how bad things are now.
