Can't seem to use the local emulator from the installation instructions on the application itself. But it works on other files for some reason.

that or just use winrar and set the name encoding to japanese shift usually works

Can't help with that one, sorry. Mods added the emulator thing to the install instructions. I have my system locale set so I don't need to bother with all that.
Or apparently you could do this.

Are you extracting it with the right setting in winrar to avoid the need for it?
There was a post earlier with someone saying it was broken because they were getting the same file not found error you get when the locale isn't set right.
Either way, I put that warning on all my translations just in case I didn't notice a needed file with a japanese filename. In theory, it saves people complaining when it doesn't work for them because of it. In theory, but not in practice

Yeah that's not the Japanese though. The title on this is:
Dosukebe otoko no musume ikiriyankī vs shokushu yashiki
Welp I blocked out a couple hours to try this other game out, but I saw everything in the game in half an hour
At least I can say that I didn't run into any gamebreaking issues.
