Now have P&P said though that they have been working on the new project alongside Lily for a year or so, so i do (think and) hope that they can do it.
Of course so have we had some long time in between updates but if they can keep it up with a release like they do now by working on 2 games (its around 3 = if lucky to every 4 months in between?) and keep the quality and quantity up with both games (we don't know what the new game will be about) so do i think it will fine.
But like you said: at least finish Lily i agree 100%.
