Has anyone actually played any of the updates in the last year or so?

I've been following the vague progress logs and see that they're adding content... However, I cant even get the Launcher to open on my computer. Even as a patron the dev's gave up on me with tech support for the launcher on mac.

How much game is there to play?

is this game even still alive? whats the difference between the 0.1.8.0 and0.1.7.0 versions? is the 0.1.9.0 even worth it? Last I played, THERE WAS NOTHING TO DO THE MOMENT I GOT OUT OF THE TENT, just 2 minigames...and nothing else, no pornographic shit, just fucking around.....is this game EVEN GONNA GET MORE CONTENT??

EDIT:Looked around here for a bit...at least there's some updates from November....THO iMMA BE HONEST, The vibes around here feel the same as the Silksong subreddit, just without the insanity and more salty....thought if I can waint ON S K O N G , I can probably wait for this too, hell, this shit has been in development as long as S K O N G too!

From what I read, 1.9.0 isn't public yet.
It's "released" to the testers.
Ugh.
"Game testers."
Paid to play games. (That's how it used to be. Not anymore.)
Nononono.
These people don't know how to actually properly do this.
Well, a few may.
You're suppose to try to break the game.
You're suppose to go around, mash every button possible while running into every wall, every single collision object, while at the same time pausing the game repeatedly.
You're suppose to find bugs.
It's research!
I feel disgusted.
Keep a notepad on you, make a note of every little hiccup. What you were doing, and what you did.

Honestly, I would never pay money to go test a game. It's now just a joke occupation, early access masquerading as obligations.

I need to throw up.

Damn...has this game really fall from graces this bad? Christ....I remember hearing about this game and being ecstatic as this shit looked good a couple years back, but sad cuz it was impossible to play on Mobiile as I never had a Laptop then....now I kinda feel sad about this game...so much potential getting squandered like this....I know game development is HELLISH as fuck, especially for something as big as this, but for it to TAKE AS LONG AS S K O N G AND YOU HAVE TO PAY TO TEST IT, christ...

It was more of a generalization unfortunately. Not just LoK.
That's the trend of these days, there's a lot of games in Early Access that people pay for.
Usually not to test them, no.
I'm guilty of this. I'm purchasing a game to play, not to test.

If I buy a game on steam at early access, then I am a hypocrite.
Which I am.

Information holds much value!
Pay me. Or give me the game for free.
I'll gladly use an unfinished gray-polygon to squat into every corner I see! Both with documentation, and photos explaining every anomaly I cross.

Maybe we can come up with a solution?
I don't understand virtual machines, but is there a way you can make your mac..."pretend" to be Windows OS with virtual machine software?

Might be worth looking up.
Might even work for other windows games for your Mac, too?

I mean at least for Silksong its clear it will come eventually. Hollow Knight was a great game, they have already proven themselves with that one.

You know, the sad thing to me is the art looks really nice. And some of the ideas they talk about sound neat. But it takes forever seemingly. I mean maybe people who are supporting and on the inn actually disagree and maybe they even actually know it's not the case (because they are getting what they want out of it), but even so many years after the reboot it feels like you are playing a glorified tech demo. Barely any lewd content, barely any substantial gameplay content. What really is there to do with the current publicly available version of this game? Or even with the patron version? It feels like we barely have advanced the story, if there even is any. It just feels like they have half a game or at least 2 chapters worth of content already ready to go, but it's not 2 complete chapters but rather various parts of 6 chapters and none of them is completely playable.

Please note I havent played this game in a long time, this is just how it looks to someone peering in from the outside.

Next patch & What to expect
New
Yesterday
Hey everyone, We’ve got a big read for you, so get ready for a deep dive into what we’ve been working on!

First off, a huge thank you. Your continued support means the world to us. Whether it’s bug reports, suggestions, or reviews, your feedback has been invaluable. Being a small team, we can’t always catch everything, so having you all help us improve the game is something we deeply appreciate.

Bug fixes & upcoming content We've already addressed many of the reported bugs in our dev branch, but more fixes are on the way. As we continue squashing bugs and implementing missing features, we’re also hard at work on the next big update: Nara & Mjol.

Next Update: Nara & Mjol This update will bring:
  • Several new H-scenes
  • New backgrounds
  • New in-game illustrations
  • Two new interactable characters
  • Plenty of new dialogue and lore
  • A bit more of story progression
So, what’s next? Here’s what we’re prioritizing for upcoming updates:
  • Regional Map & Fast Travel – A detailed map of the village and surrounding areas, plus a fast travel system so you’re not stuck running everywhere.
  • Minimap & Quest Tracking – Helping you navigate the world more easily, including a progress tracker for character interactions so you can see what’s left to do.
  • New Intro Cutscene – A small cinematic sequence showing Kay’s arrival on the planet, along with improvements to the Federation Ship (we’re improving it and shortening it so you can get to the village faster).
  • New Dialogue Visuals – Every character will soon have unique visual-novel-style illustrations (as you've seen in past posts), making interactions feel more engaging and immersive.
  • Combat Animations Prototyping – While we are still working on combat animations, the plan of course is to create an 'arena' accessible on the main menu that will allow us to develop combat in a test environment that players can also mess with. It'll start simple at first, but eventually will be refined and added to the game, finally allowing the story to continue as it should.
We want to do more for our patrons and allow a lot more input, suggestions, and possibly even content pass into the game as it is developed. Your opinion matters with us, and you're free to share it your thoughts with us in the public Discord—we’ll get back to you as soon as we can.

Once again, thank you for being part of this journey with us. Your support makes everything possible, and we can’t wait to share more with you soon.

Let us know what you think and see you next time!
Reminder: They have been prototyping the combat system for five years now.
