This reminds me to the Flash game where she's stranded on a planet and has to get out of there in like a week or something... or just become a whore hahahaha
Yeah this is like remake number 5 of that game.

They never get finished. This one won't either. Same team same name same model looks like.

This will make it to version 0.0.8 and then we won't hear about it again unti LoK rebirth remake reimagined using all the same assets comes out as a 0.0.0.0.0.0 tech demo.

Not a big fan of the 3d gameplay, but since I've read they are reworking it back into it's previous 2D/2.5D aspects as the last attempt at LOK was going for, I am fine with it.

Just hope they have more results in terms of production this time around. Realistic expectations and all that.

Looking forwards to hearing about LoK:R3 - RebirthRemakeRevenge sometime next year after this one falls apart (or maybe they'll discover unity this time).

My understanding is kuja, the artist for the game, felt like the groundwork, engine, or something for the game was making the progress on it way too slow. So, kuja hired a team to essentially reboot the project. The new team released the 3D tech demo in the first post, but a lot of people were unhappy with the 3D aspect. So, they're reworking it to be more of a 2D or 2.5D game like the original was, and that's where the project currently is. It's been mentioned that several aspects of the character are planned to be customizable to some degree, like the fur color.
As long as it does reach anywhere near the completion tag it will be great. And I do agree with the masses 3D isn't great for this game. Just my opinion though won't judge anyone else's taste. And yes, the customisations are appreciated don't know how the game will progress but I sure do wish the dev good luck with this one.

LoK games will forever be cursed to never be finished
Version G broke the trend.
This will make it to version 0.0.8 and then we won't hear about it again unti LoK rebirth remake reimagined using all the same assets comes out as a 0.0.0.0.0.0 tech demo.
What makes you think they will reuse assets then when they're not doing that now?
I sure hope they don't discover unity.
The thread has the Unity tag. Am I missing something? What do you two mean with discovering Unity?

Ok, people are just complaining about this being a Re-doing to the Rebirth Game which is Remake to the Playshapes game and frankly that conversation (though a valid one) does not actually talk about THIS game at all. So I will do just that.

Thoughts:
1. I find it weird how the game has 8 direction support, but only 4 sprites were completed for each direction. quick fix I hope
2. The 2D sprites with 3D backgrounds was werid....at first. After a while I was getting Paper Mario Vibes. I think some tweaking to the 3D Backgrounds and we could have a Paper Krystal title
3. I'm glad this has WASD support because going up those stairs at the Temple I realized you can't go down by clicking.
4. I like how Both Krystal's and Keakrix's sprite update when you change outfits or strip them down...but I have noticed Krystal can't wear Keakrix's outfit but Keakrix can wear Krystal's outfit. Propbably having to do with the *Female* Tag attached to Krystal's outfit, so that does need to be fixed.
4b. Keakrix's tail doesn't show when walking straight back on sprite
4c. Keakrix's sprites are very incomplete. Removing her loincloth doesn't update the sprite. Her Left and Right Sprites also don't update in the same way her front sprite does. As long as you have a part of her original outfit, her left and right sprite shows her fully clothed.
5. Sek when added to party just doesn't move.
6. If you want to Restart the game you MUST exit the game completely. Going to the title and starting a new game carries over the progress.
6B. However your Items inventory does restart. So if you were like me, had Krystal clothes in her inventory and then went to title to restart, Now Krystal is forever naked because her Inventory restarted, but not her equipped items.
7. I Accidentally dropped the Key down the pit....Yeah I'm not getting that back am I?
8. Does the rusted key open the chest? I couldn't figure that out. So I just used the chest for the button puzzle
9. It took me way too long to realize the "Stop Moving Button" applies to only the character you were playing as, so if you switch characters, the last character stays in place but your new character can move. I was hoping just for a "Stay here" in the dialogue options.
10. I don't like the Map function when going down the well. If should just go directly down to there.
11. Camera is wonky, but for the game they are making, I am expecting a bit of that.
12. Maybe it's the lack of animations or the camera, but the game feels very clunky.
13. Dialogue tree is back, but the message box is pretty slow. Game Allow me to speed click my way through dialogue if I want.
14. Switching characters is weird. I know it's right clicking (Over no intractable things), but sometimes my click just didn't respond.

It's obvious this game is in early tech demo, but There are some things I like and Some things that need to be fixed ASAP.

So as a patron and frequent participant in their Discord server, I feel I need to lay out the current situation of the game because this new thread has seemingly gotten worse than the old one and the front page feels extremely misleading to anyone that views it.

In August of last year, Abelius left the project(Reasons shall not be discussed, it happened, he's got a new project, lets move on.), and Kuja along with Vlad decided to reboot the game with the intent for it to be better. And by all accounts it would have been. They originally started with a remake that was exactly the same in design, just with a new codebase and tools. It was still a 2D game. However, along the way, they had some ideas they wanted to try out which led to a new 2.5D version of the game with 2D characters and eight direction sprites, as well as a 3D environment. There were many setbacks such as slow animation progress, learning curves, and just problems in the developers personal lives such as an entire hard drive filled with game data dying unexpectedly and a personal loss for Archie, the lead animator, in December. Eventually they hired on two more animators to speed up the progress of animations as well as trying to optimize their workflow. They've actually hired on enough people that Vlad has to take cuts to his own income to make sure these new people were paid as he really wanted this game to succeed.

Fast forward to June and we finally got the promised tech demo for their 2.5D vision. However, there are a lot of problems. Some great ideas that were worth trying to explore, and the tech demo was made for the purposes of feedback. If they had more time, they could have found a way to make the sprites work better with the backgrounds, however due to the growing impatience and frustration on the part of not just their patrons, but also fans, they have decided to revert to the original 2D plan, though they do still intend to finish the content for the tech demo as promised, as some of that, such as the sex scenes, are still to my knowledge intended for the full game at some point in time. But rest assured, if you do not like what you see in the tech demo, it is not what you will be getting anymore and the front page does the new version no justice, especially since the preview images are the old work in progress versions and not the finished ones.

To further my point about the new version, here are images from their Discord showing the progress of the new background art.

Keep in mind that these are not 100% finished, Kuja is still working on them. The shots with Krystal also aren't in-game, that was done merely to show the direction they're reverting to based on feedback to the tech demo. They're hoping to have backgrounds with multiple layers to show more depth and distance, possibly moving clouds, a background that moves faster than the foreground, etc. in addition to the possibility of dynamic time of day and weather which they are exploring.

As someone else pointed out, Krystal herself is customizable to a large extent, including hair, hair color, and fur color. One thing that also needs to be understood is that in the old version the characters were drawn with their bodies at an angle, which may have made them appear larger or more detailed, whereas the new version uses true side view. For the time being they've prioritized the side view animations, the ones for the other six directions have been pushed to the back burner for now to reduce animation load, but they do plan to get them finished at some point. The game also will not be all that different from the 0.8 version in terms of content. They're goal is to remake all of that as it was and keep most of the characters the same, with the exception of the Razorclaw leader and Cenvir, and as a result Cenvir will have less than he did in 0.8, but eventually will get back up to that with his new personality and story.

I'm happy devs still caring enough to not let LOK series die but I'm also worried this one too will never be complete and if it gets completed it will probably take at least a year.A new Legend of Waiting and Disappointment here we go.Again.

On one hand if this new version removed the slow walking around camp, having to aimlessly talk to people to see if there are any events etc. goes away. that would be very nice, the 'minigames' you do everyday are tedious(which is okay since they are supposed to feel like chores) but they are also just really simple and boring, you just walk places. I agree that I liked the old design more but since they are promising character customization this time it might not matter. I only wonder if you can edit her body shape because I would prefer her to be a curvy as the old design, but given its 2.5d animation it might cause clipping issues if you can mess with the model.

All in all if they flat out improve on the last version by making the game less of a dredge to play(especially without saves/cheats) and have all the save body options and then more. It might end up being better that the last attempt for me personally although that depends how fast they catch up.

P.S saw a few comments about this being the only furry game you can stomach; me too and idk why.

also I think they should remove the whole playable companion thing and maybe reconsider adding it later. It will probably slow progress down in the core game for a feature that isn't that exciting. Especailly in these early editions if half the changes are working/fixing it, would be silly.

WOW! Really Complicated Game cycle then. I'm glad they aren't completely giving up the 2D Style because I did like it (Though I kind of was getting into the Paper Krystal vibe the demo was doing). However that does tell me that who ever posted this really shouldn't have done so, seeing how this entire game will change completely in a short period of time. Maybe someone else could tackle a naughty paper-mario style game some day.

well then. lets hope they make better progress with this than the last run. If they can actually get to the finish line with this they could actually break the curse of LoK games.
That would be an impressive achievement. Worthy of the Hall of Fame of developers :sneaky:

What makes you think they will reuse assets then when they're not doing that now?
Mainly that their totally not reused assets look pretty much the same as all the other assets in the other 40 version of the game that have come out, just minor touch ups here and there. It has never looked like they are using new assets, just updating with the new model every time they tweak something in it.

Usually with parallax backgrounds the further something is away, the slower it will move across the screen. Are you sure they want to make the background move faster than the foreground, and not the other way around?
if it gets completed it will probably take at least a year.
No way this game will be complete in a year. What you can see now is the result of one year since the beginning of the Remake. Game development takes time, and it would take almost any dev (certainly any pron game dev) much more than a year to complete this.
yeah, they care about the money they get from people that still hope for a game someday and nothing else.
I remember that they brought up whether the team were furries in the Rebirth thread. I'm probably misremembering, but I believe it was that most of them were not, but they were passionate about Krystal and this game. So I think, and hope, that the devs actually do care about the game itself.
1 year of promises of huge updates with tons of new content
I don't think that ever was the case.
Mainly that their totally not reused assets look pretty much the same as all the other assets in the other 40 version of the game that have come out
Let's say, for the sake of argument, that I agree and that the assets do look very similar. That doesn't mean they are reusing the assets. They made the assets for this version from the ground up. And I'm not saying that's better, mind you. I would have preferred if they used the assets they already had instead of redoing it.
