Is there an updated character archetype cheatsheet? I want to progress with my characters, but I keep thinking I'll miss out on content I haven't discovered.
Topic gains are not random. Practically every action you do gives you some (usually 5-10) weight in a few topics (it's the same topics everytime you do that specific action). Once a topic has 20+ weight, it loses 20 weight, and a copy of that topic is added to your inventory. The only randomness in Loser occurs when you watch TV, Watch videos on your computer, or when Becky is deciding which livestream to do. Everything else is set in stone. It's just not 100% visible to the player, because too much information kills novelty. From a game mechanics standpoint, I like the idea of archetypes that MC can influence. This leads to characters that have interests that can be tweaked to match whatever your personal kinks are a bit more closely.
I'm not a fan of the randomized topics though. It's partly mitigated by the existence of permanent topics that you can unlock but you still end up with large numbers of random topics that require constant micromanagement and frequently exceed the limit of how many total topics you can have in reserve. I think I remember him saying he doesn't like writing dialog and that's what prompted the idea of the randomized topics. I can understand the desire to do that since writing dialog can certainly be a challenge, but I think it could still use a lot of work to make the current system less tedious for the player.
I tend not to play each version and just take it out for another spin every 6 months or so, but I find it mostly unplayable without the cheat mod due to the grind. With the cheat mod I can mostly ignore the randomized topics and just periodically delete them all and still make progress but that pretty much circumvents most of the built in mechanics.
Eh, I used to be pretty frustrated with the game too. But the dev's made a lot of QoL improvements since then and the improved mod also makes the game a lot better as well. More QoL updates are appreciated.I wonder if anyone noticed it's been 4 months now since the last update, and we're only at the start of development cycle for Loser. Guess not, so that's a nice job on conditioning your players, Baal.
Also, nice job on making a game that's basically a grinding hell, and then creating a bunch of new "starts", which only purpose is cutting down on that grind. Spending developement time on solving game design problems you intentionally created - brilliant. Although I kinda wonder how many of your players look forward to play the game from the beginning again in order to test out all those wonderful starts, instead of getting to new content. I guess all of them (irony).
Never mind though. There's no hurry. Next Christmas is not that far away!
If you can make Ginna or MC help the Dad fuck Becky when she's passed out (maybe even double-team her), that would be amazing.
I'm not sure I understand this. Are you saying the phone is supposed to unlock her interest in photography?
If so, that's not it. You have to encourage her interest in photography the same way you'd encourage any of her other potential interests.
You need the phone to do the photo shoot events. That's its only purpose and that comes AFTER you've encouraged her interest in photography and transformed her AT to something actually has those events.
Thanks bud. That's probably one the best compliments I can get, as I despise the current trend of bullshit VN's littering the game space, and I spent a crap load of time on QoL Improvements last update.Eh, I used to be pretty frustrated with the game too. TL,DR
Didn't like it before. I like it now. Don't really care about the long dev times as much anymore because I'm starting to not give a fuck about these kinds of games in general. This is one of the few games I'll actually bother to play now because it's something other than a linear story VN about a dumbass. Shit, might even start donating if the dev keeps it up. I think there's maybe less than 10 left that aren't doing the same contrived shit only to result in it imitating the very shit I tried to escape from by playing VNs, etc.
I acknowledge your gripes but I'm personally just not bothered about that stuff anymore for various reasons. The most important being the lastest updates improving the player experience.
Not a total solution to what you describe, but topics with the "Competitive" tag raise aggression interest. This is particularly useful for Richard, since he likes topics like Stocks, Sports, and Sales Tactics. I don't remember the ATs for Gina and mom that need aggressive, (haven't played in a while) so I don't have advice for them.Regarding photography I solved it, I had the phone I just had to buy fashion magazines to increase the interest in photography.
Now I'm at a standstill because I can't make progress with the "aggressive" tag for Diane, for Richard and for Gina.
I have completed almost all skills except sexual, immoral, etc. I have completed all the online research topics from the PC
Loitering in the park in the morning also gives aggression topics, but requires you to embrace disorder. Not a total solution to what you describe, but topics with the "Competitive" tag raise aggression interest. ETA: IIRC you can get stocks daytrading or researching finance. You can sometimes get Sports watching TV in the living room. You get Sales Tactics by working at the boutique and up-selling customers.

You can get Aggressive tags by playing video games, but not all will accept them. Online studying marketing helps as well(1 out of 3 attempts will give required topic). But the most reliable way - working as sale assistance in boutique.Regarding photography I solved it, I had the phone I just had to buy fashion magazines to increase the interest in photography.

Ah, yea. That's why I always start with Becky. You get Sports topics from talking to her default AT. Sports has the competitive tag which equals aggression.Regarding photography I solved it, I had the phone I just had to buy fashion magazines to increase the interest in photography.

I always think of that when someone says "bud" lol. Don't know why. But seriously:
Yea, it got old. When I first discovered these kinds of games, there used to be more stuff that actually felt like games. Sandbox, leveling up stats, character relationship stages, etc. Now everyone's just trying to reproduce what popped off the most but 99% of them are shitty writers. Some VNs are still good but not many.
About the QoL improvements. Your effort towards them for sure shows and I appreciate the fuck out of that. It's a really unique game and the last update/future plans for similar updates really did make me come around.
Also, would it be cool if I proofread some of the stuff? I've done it before for another dev's Unity game so it wouldn't be my first time. If not, that's perfectly alright. No charge, I just like doing it. (Edit: the past stuff, not the current content.)
I'll look into it, man. Thanks. (Just kinda too lazy to do that this week lol) I just wanted to help out with some of the unimportant stuff if I could.MyYou must be registered to see the linkshas a Typo channel explicitly for this. Feel free to hop in Now, if you're asking for like an excel sheet with the dialogue. I don't have the ability to extract dialogue currently. I am slowly moving toward a more condensed Dialogue engine that will be able to to extract dialogue into spreadsheets, and vice versa but currently, i cannot. That's the price of making everything from scratch.
Wait, I think I remember now. If it's the Gina AT I think you're talking about, I think it was the Vandalism topic that worked for her. Or it was something else about crime ... can't believe I don't have that written down somewhere. But I guess if I didn't write it down then I must've thought it wasn't that hard to get her aggressive interest to 100%.Regarding photography I solved it, I had the phone I just had to buy fashion magazines to increase the interest in photography.

You need to have a certain interest level to have ability to flirt. This is a main bottleneck with Charlie in this version. How do I flirt with Charlie (first AT) in the latest update?
In earlier versions, one would load a topic like Witty Banter in the item bar instead of the topic bar, but in the current version I can only load topics in the topic bar from the backpack, which doesn't unlock the flirt option. Am I missing something?
