You are being even more kinder than I am, Lacey, for me, cannot fix her first cardinal sin, abandoning MC.
The college years are already put her in a situation where she cannot win, she is unforgivable.
Not for the sex ofc, which does play a big part, but for ignoring MC and his pleas, if another woman didn't intervene, MC would be dead.
We are not even talking about the famous 3 weeks, we are talking about the full junior year, MC was writing to her frantically asking for help, telling her he wasn't doing well.
The only thing he got was silence, and silence, as Lacey would put it, is final.
She left him to rot when he needed her, and she was having a blast of a 1 on 1 party when he was about to jump.
Now add the sex and her general behaviour in college, which I still think it was more fun than she is letting us know, as it can be understood also from her pimp behaviour.
This corruption is mostly caused by the pimp, even my AI analysis puts the pimp as being responsible for almost 70-80% of the things happening, but it did happen, instead of taking the right way out, which would have been contacting MC and facing the situation together, she took the pimp path.
Her brain damage is self caused, so it is not an excuse, but it doesn't make her inherently stupid, she only has more challenges in terms of memory, impulse control and , she says, understanding people intentions.
It does not make her automatically act like that, brain damage does not make you lie, that is YOU.
Now, Lacey does have reeding qualities, she understands how badly she damaged MC and her relationship with him, irrevocably so, and this makes her act out of desperation.
In act 2 she even realizes how her behavior is horrible even now, and how she isn't even able to give him a nice relaxing weekend without her past rearing it's ugly head and ruining everything.
Because everything is already ruined and tainted, her love is transactional, the only thing she keeps using to maintain the relationship is his lust.
All that you said, is on TOP of what I just pointed out, which as I said comes from the desperation from the realization of all the above (which still doesn't discount her actions and the damage they have caused).
But I love Lacey act 2, she is growing, she is taking accountability.
This is the woman that could have improved the situation in act 1 instead of fucking up even more.
Maybe she would have failed as well, but she would have failed on her knees because she tried to get up again and not only because that is all she could do.
Don't think for a second that I think that Lacey 2 is perfect, when she happily says to MC: "I can explain why I gave dicks nicknames, I really can" like it would make a lick of difference or improve things.
MC as usual is a wet blanket, especially after the dialogue you posted, if he was a man that people respected or that demanded respect, Lacey and his marriage would both be in better shape.
But this is the MC we got, a weak buffoon that talks about murders and violence and yet the only punch he gave was to his wife, a 50 kg when wet woman.
