Did you find anything? Can I use the Debug Console to set the dirty flag (if that works, setting it is the problem), to manually call the function that is triggered by the 'is dirty' flag (if that works, checking the flag is the problem), or to check anything else?
Not yet; I've been crazy busy with Wings of Empire these last weeks, I'll look into it when I have some spare cycles.

For those curious about what I'm up to now, I did a free discussing the details.

TLDR? Wings of Empire's first act is now 'story' complete; I've still got sandbox content to fill out, but it's well under way, and I'm hoping for a public release of Act I in early March.

You can now playtest it on the Development Branch of Morningstar: Book of the Fallen on Steam.

If you want to hear more about the game, and help it do well at launch, give it a wishlist!

Hope you like it!

I finally got around to trying this game after so many months of holding back...
First off, I am not an avid poker player, so that is a big part of why I stopped mid-way through the first part.
The whole mechanic of having a 5x5 "bingo" style spread to mix and match poker hands is confusing and unfortunately something I can't get over.
The overall game premise is fine, but I just lost all interest even before getting to the "other side" of the portal in the basement.
I seriously gave it a good try, but the sandbox being so minuscule and irrelevant, the characters being mostly unattractive, and the card play aspect being strange and confusing just made it a tedious chore rather than something fun and engaging for me.

I give solid props to Droid Productions for the success of the game. I respect the players and hardcore fans of this content. I just expected so much more engaging content from such a highly hyped game. If that content exists, it is definitely missing from the first "3 weeks" of gameplay.

It's a great story. Well thought out with bits of lore sprinkled in. To make the poker easier, set the difficulty to easy, and use automatic. Auto doesn't work out 100% of the time, but you begin to see when to manually insert cards, or disgard.

You should just ignore the poker content and just use the auto button if you don't like poker.
You can even turn off the poker altogether in the settings by changing the difficulty level to causal.

If you would just play through all 3 books you very well may come to love this great game like most players do.

Puzzle game with simple cards"strange and confusing"? Please explain what is confusing on this really simple premise (I remember when ICQ was online, it has similar puzzle game, that was played by 10yo children and they were NOT confused).

I actually need a lot of explanation in your post. Sandbox is "minuscule and irrelevant" and yet you never reached part of the game where it is? (The other side of the portal)

"Attractiveness" of characters is only relevant part in your post. Because that is entirely on one's taste...
But that makes me curious. WHAT is attractive model in your book?

Maybe we "players and hardcore fans" prefer good writing and well crafted stories.

Rage does not matter for the glade until book 3 and the alter reality, all other times you can have all the rage you want and still go to the glade.
Not really. That was because it's in Book 3 when it actually became a stat outside fights. There were no rage stat outside fights before then. But even in B1 NG+, it's always specifically made so that Owyn never enters the Glade with more than 10 rage. It's heavily implied that >10 rage would make it nuke him. It happens during the time when he rescued Emily too. His rage went up to 50 when he heard the news and got down to 10 as they were walking there, so I'm pretty sure it's the same.

Well I can't tell you about your game but take a look here: Love of Magic 2025-02-06 11-00-06-59.jpg Love of Magic 2025-02-06 11-00-09-88.jpg

Was that made through debug or something? Either that, or yours is bugged too. The gaining and reducing of (non-combat) rage is scripted. There shouldn't be anything in day 81 that'll give you any rage.

EDIT: Yeah. Pretty sure that's a debug edit. That doesn't really count.
um.....dude, try equipping rage gems..... SOME of the rage seems to carry over from battle to overworld.....

Not everyone knows poker. Not everyone is interested in card games/has exposure or interest in poker. I do know that millions (billions) of people can recite every potential winning/losing hand combination in several variations of poker and other card games. Adding the 5x5 play field is just even more complex when the basic premise is confusing to start with. Yes, I lack exposure. Yes, I know I am confessing to being a non-curious idiot when it comes to poker. I have no shame for lacking desire to spend time on that.

The sandbox consists of very few locations, many or most of which are empty or have nothing going on 90% of the time.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Yes, the women are good looking, but without any actual animation, staring at the same exact "sprite" render that does not alter in any significant way is boring.

I'm not saying Love of Magic is a bad game. I know it's beloved by most players. I respect the choices and acknowledge that many poker lovers are excited to engage with the play style. I know it can be more-or-less disabled or skipped, but the remainder of the setup just does not engage with me either.

It's just my personal preferences. We all have different desires and hopes when going into an adult game. This just didn't do it for me. I installed the game after seeing so many "Top 10" lists with Love of Magic in the top 5. Like many of those "Top 10" lists, they included games I have tried playing and found lacking in some way.

Everyone has their own desires, interests, and motivations. When a game does not light the spark on multiple levels for a person, while exploding an inferno of joy for many others, it all comes down to what the player expects being fulfilled or not.

Then you have very confusing way to express your mind.
Not that you do not know poker. You are just "making point" by shouting against "poker". Even when that is hardly relevant for ingame puzzle.
I have nice example. There was ICQ "duel" game some time back. It was too just puzzle game with names of those hands, but still hardly anyone would call that "playing poker" and cry that "not everyone was exposed to that".

Just say taht you do not care about that game enough to learn few simple combinations. And that is relevant and I have no problem with that part.

You called "most of characters" unattractive", but now you are saying something very different. So just make up your mind. :)

And on that sandboxy issue. You are just telling us that youstopped playing before sandbox part and complaining that it was empty.

So again, please make up your mind and try to be coherent.
Because you want sandbox and refusing to play THIS type of sandbox and still complaining about it not having sandbox.
You complain about unattractive girls, which are "looking good, but have not many animations", you you want story where "sprites" won't talk to much and just skip to porn animations.

So this whole part makes ME confused.

That seems to be an old bug that's been squashed. I do remember that one during the early builds of B1 NG+ (or B3), but my recent playthrough mained rage + cluster. It's no longer present. Tried it just now, and it didn't carry over. This is after the guardian fight the day after rescuing Emily. None of the 300+ rage from the fight carried over and added to the remaining 10.

I finally finished this, and all I can say is... WOW.

I struggle complete most mainstream games, yet this kept me engaged from the first scene to the last - and I actually find myself somewhat sad and melancholy that it's over.

I will say that Book 3 did appear to have several bugs - scenes that were from Book 2 re-appearing in Book 3, certain paths on the map disappearing at times, etc. But overall definitely a 15/10 for me.

And I just want to add that this is the FIRST Unity based game that I've played that hasn't bogged down my system or had other issues - that's absolutely fantastic!
