Playing Book2 ng+, after the battle with the Outsider in the Sonoran Desert. The battle ended, Outsider defeated, screen changes to the desert scene, but no characters or dialogue. I'm stuck. It's a new one for me. I've been through this part of the story before, but never had this problem. Any suggestions? (@Droid Productions)

When it happened to me I loaded the last autosave (which should be before the fight) and the second time it worked normally

Yeah, I can do that. I have a save right before the fight. I was just being lazy and looking to not do the battle over again. I was also worried it might just happen again, but if you've seen the same thing, then it was likely just an engine glitch and will work fine if I just replay it. Thx.

I belive this happens when you finish a fight with bella 1000 damage hammer hit. She has an additional line of dialogue after, which screws with quest dialogue imo.

Yep, that's exactly what happened. When I replayed it, I made sure to have the final blow be from Excalibur and avoided any possible conflict.

I can't get book 2 to work. It says unity player is not installed, I move it from book one over to book two and it still won't work. It then says failed to load mono.
PC? Most common issue is that people unzip it to somewhere with deep or with weird pathnames. Or try to run it from the ZIP file, I guess.
Try unzipping to something like c:\game or something, see if that works.
It goes to my downloads. I'm not great with computers, so I might be the problem. I've redownloaded book 2 and am still having the same problems. Saying that unity player isn't installed and then it can't detect mono.
So, first of all, you're unzipping it after downloading it, right?
-Download to wherever
- unzip to c:\tmp
- go there, and run it.
- If it still fails open windows explorer, ctrl+L, paste %USERPROFILE%/AppData/LocalLow/Droid Productions/Love of Magic
- this will go to c:\users\username\AppData/LocalLow/Droid Productions/Love of Magic depending on your username.
- you'll find a file called player.log (or just player, if you've got hide known extensions on)
- zip that up and drag it in here to upload, I'll see what I can discover.
This is still in C:/Users/USERNAME/Downloads/love_of_magic_book2_1_2_7i_win64/Content/win64_build/book2/
I'd start by trying to unzip it again.
- Make sure you get the whole thing, not just the root folders. The error you're seeing is something you'd get if you had a corrupted or partial unzip).
- Unzip to c:\temp so you know that's not the problem.

Droid Productions, since you are doing some troubleshooting..., the latest version of Book3 NG+ has a couple of notable issues. First, every time you run the .exe it goes to the "Let's Play" screen, and (I think it may be related) the settings for music volume, sound volume, and text box opacity return to default. Second, all of the card backs from the first two books are gone and re-locked, in addition any card backs you earn in book 3 vanish and re-lock each time you restart.
None of these are issues that affect game play, but I thought you would want to know...
I finished the umpteenth play through of book 2 the other day, and I'm sure you'll be pleased to know..., it got me again. I went through half a box of tissues at the end.

The Steam version is 2-3GB larger because it uses uncompressed RGB textures instead of compressed ones.

Just wanted to add that I'm having exactly the same issues here. (Seems all settings revert -- I also set it to Fullscreen, but it always starts windowed.) Running Windows 11 Pro, version 23H2. I didn't have these issues with either Book 1 or 2.
