Hello, I have a question, on the page and on the Discord server it says that it is version 2.9 of the game, but I only find version 2.8
Read the OP. Click on the "Mod Edition" download mirror links. I dunno where you are going for your downloads, but you aren't wary enough, IMO.

Yes, I don't know why something like this happens in this game. I think somehow the game can't load npc animations into memory. However, after closing the game and restarting it, they should appear.
The character Zu will not be restored.
And as for future content, I plan to redraw what the game currently has (enemies, players, stages, etc.), And then add some new content such as new enemies, stages, dialogues, sex animations, etc.
At the moment, the "Mod Edition File" already contains both the engine and the mod, so you don't need to download anything else. A few months ago I was only uploading .pak files, so for that you had to download the engine, and that's why there is still a possibility to download the engine.
The only way to download the full game is to go to the first page of this post, then search for the section called "Mod Edition File" (at the bottom of the first post). Then click the spoiler button named: "SPOILER: Operating Systems." There, select the OS you have and then the platform from which you want to download the mod.

In the latest version, turning on cheats gives me all of the cheats at the same time no matter what I pick. pls fix

Well, to be honest, it will not be fixed. I created the story mode in such a way that hp, stamina, life are manually added to the character, so that there are no situations where you play another mode and get new stats, such as more hp, lives, because sometimes the story mode did not want to reset the stats. However, this made the cheat option pointless because it was unable to change the character's stats as they were manually changed by my script. Therefore, I created another script that checks if the cheat mode is active, and if so, it will add your hp, stamina, life to the maximum. But this also means that the cheats configuration (3 options) is useless, because I can't check which option you clicked, but only whether you have an active cheats mode or not.

Shouldn't the credits (aka continues) be separate from those? One of the cheat options was just for credits rather than character stats.

The team does not make any more characters, but I genuinely hope someone else in the community makes her playable at some point.
I was thinking of a mod idea. Basically this mod turns pxlpd into a more traditional sonic game with convincing visuals, level designs and everything. If you get caught by the enemies your womb is filled instead of losing rings.
On top of an old fighting game engine? Wishful thinking. You'd need an entire overhaul for that to work, and even then it won't turn out well. That's like making a platformer on RPGMaker.
If anything, you could make that into its own game rather than a mod. Maybe make it a spinoff if you want inside the PX tagline
