If you haven't deleted them from your AppData folder they should be usable in new versions. I haven't transferred any renpy saves and can still use them in newer versions

Not going to correct you, since you already are correct, just to add: there once was a gallery, it was just too troublesome to maintain during development. This just isn't a VN where a scene is done and then can be added to the gallery and forgot about.
