They could not because of copyright issues.
Check the thread if you wish to know more about it. This was already explained quite a few times.

Besides dev team is using this to redo some of the introductions and to add new characters.

On Patreon they posted they're beginning work on the next chapter.

The original latest chapter was delayed so I think this next release should be an indicator of the production schedule going forward.
