The new art is NOT bad. It's just different. There are some things it does better, some things that aren't as good, but overall the art is good.

Everyone in this thread keeps going on about the change in art, so I thought we could take a look at the same scene, compare the differences.

Old Art.PNG New Art.PNG

Take a look at the old version, what the heck is with that hallway? They're supposed to be at a university, not a cathedral. Alice is supposed to be the shy, small town girl, but she's got a tight pink sweater that hugs her boobs, shows off her midriff, and is standing in a pose that manages to accentuate both her ass and her chest at the same time. It never made sense when Lei made fun of her for her appearance, because Alice always looked hot. It always felt like in romance movies when we're expected to pretend that the main character is ugly because she has glasses on and will magically turn hot the moment she takes them off and does her hair.

In the new version Alice actually looks her part. She's got the exact same outfit on, without the Instagram model pose and with the sweater being less pink and tight, she actually does look like a nerdy, shy girl. She's even wearing her backpack with both straps on.

This seems to be the case with a lot of the art, in the old version Marcus' apartment seemed way to fancy for a college kid to rent, and Marcus's shirtless scene was like he got cast in a Marvel movie. Overall, it never felt realistic, it felt like the game wasn't based in reality but was a CW-show version of reality.

The new art is less photo realistic in style but manages to feel more representative of reality than the old one.

And speaking of Juliet, our new girl, it seems there will be three paths with her, you can have a very wholesome vanilla romance route full of handholding and kisses on the cheek, you can be an evil slut and corrupt the poor girl so she forgets all about books and only thinks about keeping her holes filled, or something in between :giggle: Very excited!

Anyone who dares to say this is bad/ugly art has no idea what they are talking about.

Personally, I liked the old art better. However, I understand the need for a change. I also don't dislike the new art. It's also very good. Better than any stick figures I could do. Only bit of disappointment for me is the complete restart. But it is what it is.

I have to say i find the new artist better at drawing facial expressions. No more "Joker smiles" to everyone.
Thank the fucking heavens *shudders* each time I was

Reading while getting your holes filled together~!

Could there be anything more romantic?

Looks to me in the new art that one is bigger than the other, and the old art they look a lot more "regular" to me. They're just a bit flat and saggy, just like ordinary natural tits.

At least the new art gives her an actual excuse to be insecure about something, even if you and I both know that most pair of breasts irl have one that is bigger than the other and she has nothing to be insecure about.

It's less credible having the woman be insecure about her tits in the old art than it is in the new one. Seriously if a woman with tits like in the old art came to me and said she's insecure, the only thing I'd tell her is to go get some surgery or something.
What? they look perfectly symmetrical to me  Just a big old perky pair of tits - nothing weird about them.
Edit: Oh, I see! One nipple is slightly more upwards than the other! I guess.. it's.. something to be insecure about? x)

Oxford and Sydney university, please google more...such as Cambridge hallway

...I do feel sorry for what happens to devs; I really do. But it does not help by trolling "the new one is better, or no university has a cathedral-style hallway ".

No one wants to be treated like an idiot or a blind person. it only causes more unnecessary attention; if the new one is better, it would be more reasonable to create brand new scenes rather than copy the previous ones; people know the difference between those scenes, and this is the reason why the new art can not get away ...do not fight against common sense.

You need to cool down the situation, not cause more arguments. Explain it, leave it! You have no chance to tell people what to think unless you can silence all of them, communication 101.

More like you bleached them. No thanks, i prefer them looking like living humans instead of crepuscule vampires.:sick:
LOL, my point is that the new artist darker them, and the backgrounds, I didn't bleach them. I tried to put them similar to the previous art, I did a fast color correction, maybe I exaggerated a bit.

I added a little bit more of color, you can check again.

I like the old style better, but it was fucking inconsistent!
Frontal shots of the MC were amazing, from the side (profile) not so much.
And her amazing hips were disappearing all of the sudden in the fucking sex scenes, LOL!

Here is an example - thats not the same fucking person, LOL:

It's a shame about the art, truly. The old style looked really fabulous, not that the new art is bad, far from it, but the old design was on another level IMO.
In any case the game looks very interesting, well written and with great characters. Personalities are caricaturesque, sure, but they fit the comedic setting perfectly and are seriously captivating. It's all very enjoyable, like watching a particularly well made sitcom.

You have many universities that have churches and older-style buildings. And yes you can have a philosophy class inside a wing of a church for example. Not just in the UK either, but in many countries you can have universities with campuses like that including in North America. And there are many universities with campuses like in the new art style as well. Someone else above also pointed this out.

Speaking in general here and not to the person I quoted:
When asking if art is good, if there is no obvious problem with the art other than the 'style' then begin to ask yourself if you can draw that? If you can't do better stop complaining. Keep in mind criticizing colouring is different than the drawings. The drawing can be great and the colouring may need work.

Keep in mind the artist is fresh into the project and likely the art will improve as they get more comfortable and receive constructive criticism. As far as the art goes, I think maybe the poses are a bit stiffer compared to the old artists rendition? The old artist was able to do a bit more natural poses? But I am only saying this from comparing that 1 screenshot posted. I have not played the whole game with the new art yet.

Lastly for anyone who missed it. The art changed because the old artist retired from the game and didn't want to make pornographic art anymore. The developer didn't want this to happen, and was forced into a situation where they either cancel the game or find a new artist. The new artist is a god send. It's really good art, and if everyone wasn't comparing styles and the game started with this artist they would think so.

It seems like a number of people in this thread needs to get their eye-sight tested. I mean, come on! I don't know what other games you are playing, but to claim that this art work isn't good, or just "not bad", is ludicrous. The fact of the matter is that the new art work is excellent, and absolutely top-tier compared to other games on this site.

Honestly, I would barely even call it a downgrade, it's just a different style. This one looks more cartoonish with bolder colours. Personally, I really like this. I also think that, apart from Darren (and maybe Alice), all of the new characters look just as good as before, or even better. This goes especially for Bonnie, who had a tremendous upgrade.

Either way, the art work is terrific and it makes no sense to speak negatively of it.

Hot take I guess? I prefer the old art style but the new one is still good!
The previous one was gorgeous and I worried that because it was so pretty it would make development slow, which it has been. But the dev has high standards for it and there's nothing wrong with that, even if my monkey brain wants content quickly. Most characters were absurdly good-looking, but then this is a fantasy right? How gritty do things need to be to suspend our disbelief?

Ideally, the new style will help them make content quicker and with more pics for each sex scene which is true already. But it will take a lot of time for them to rework each chapter. It's better this than if they cancelled the whole project over the original artist quitting, it sucks for people who are fixated on the original work but if they don't like the new stuff then the old build still exists for them.

I understand having a new artist but restarting the project and publishing a complete reset without any actual new content kind of seems wrong. I would much rather have new content with the new artist and then later do some changes to the style of the original. I had been a sub of the patreon in the past and with how slow the content comes out this feels like a huge step back.

I like both of the art styles but come on man...three months for 1/5th of the original content? If it has become a legal issue over the art I get it, but if not I would prefer to be able to see what is goin on in chapter 6.

According to what I inferred from dev's words, had she kept offering the old art in her Patreon as you suggest (old art for Chapters 1-5, new art for Chapter 6 onwards), the old artist would have asked for a proper compensation until all of his art were eventually replaced, so she'd need to pay both artists for a long while. So your idea was quickly dismissed.

It seems obvious to me that the new artist will need approx as much time to redo the first chapters as the older one spent in creating them, even more so if they are actually adding more content to those old scenes. Honestly, I didn't think things would work out as fine as they did in the end. I have to say that if everything goes according to plan, this rework means an actual improvement to the project, now we'll see if they can keep delivering (and reduce somehow the outstanding number of bugs that previous releases had).

Loved this game before and was extremely happy to see there's an update. Not following the thread, just tried to load my latest save and discovered it's essentially a reboot... Started from scratch then. I don't mind the new graphic style, but so much of the initial achievement is lost, for example sounds. Was there really no other way about this..?
