My hope is that since the original artist was uncomfortable with the sex scenes, that as we catch up to where we were in the game, the sex scenes will be... what, raunchier, more explicit?... better. That should help to make up for having to start again from the beginning, and perhaps mitigate any misgivings about changes to the art.

Honestly, this narrative seems a bit like a smokescreen to distract from the fact that the old artist finished his work on chapter 5 on time and the update still got delayed for more than five months. There's three people working on this game, but updates take longer than many games developed by a single person. And evidently that's not even because of the hand drawn art.
If we go by the new chapter 1, then updates won't be getting any faster, even though they'll be just rereleases with minor changes, which means the other two devs will be cashing in on the new artist's work for the foreseeable future, which could be years.

I feel like you misunderstood my comment. I just think that putting everything on the old artist is wrong, because the development was already troubled before he left. RedLolly insinuating on their Patreon that the artist was holding the game back, because he was uncomfortable with drawing porn is disingenuous, because the delays weren't his fault.

There were 2 different issues with the original project: the artist being uncomfortable with certain lewd scenes (which is indeed a way of holding back the project, since it implies arguments within the dev team and probably rewriting some partes of the scripts), and the coding and writing parts, which were a bit of a mess. Now one problem is gone, we'll see about the other one

I have no internal knowledge obviously, but I suspect that the last chapter was delayed because the team started arguing already and this drastically reduced the will to finish coding, release the update and pay the already unwilling artist his tithe.
Add to this Lolly's stereotypical Mediterranean treatment of work schedule and we have what we have.

Well the first sex scene (Alice masturbating) already has a lot more art than in the original according with what the devs said. Confess i don't remember the original to compare but sure hope to keep seeing improvements on it too.

It was confirmed by both parties that the art for chapter 5 was completed well on time.

I personally think that it's an abuse of the Patreon system to use it as a market place for spoonfeeding pieces of a game. It's supposed to be used to show appreciation for an artist's entire body of work, but game devs, especially in the porn niche, have no other output than a single unfinished game most of the time.
But, no, that's not the problem and I don't think I've been bitching in my comments. I just wanted to point out that blaming the old artist after the fact was a cheeky move.

Anna Mercado (the main developer) didn't lied to the previous artist about the nature of the game. They knew they were doing art for a game that feature lots of sex scenes, something that they were unconfortable with. Could have refused to work on the project instead of leaving in the middle of it.
From my point of view the old artist shares the blame too.

Saying that the new art is "objectively" ugly and bad or that the dev is milking is hardly a constructive criticism.

I really liked this redone first chapter. I love the art, I actually mostly prefer it to the previous artist's and I think the comic book style panels for some of the scenes was a great idea.

And Juliet. So cute!

The final version still has a number of odd phrasings and typos that someone who is a native English speaker should look into, but nothing that really detracts from me enjoying the game (and I quickly drop games with too much Engrish).

All in all, I have high hopes for this game.

I suppose we will first have content with Juliet and Alice's childhood friend. Still that is likely double the lesbian content at early game when compared to the previous version.
