By that reckoning, a game that hasn't had a new release or communication in 6 months should also be listed as abandoned... I don't think that's how it works.

I know waiting for a fanfiction chapter can be up to a year, but Lolly already had written 5 chapters before, so what's taking this long? It's difficult to find games that suit my taste, so it's really a downer when this stuff is happening.

according to her shes taking creative liberties the artist didnt allowed her to have aka shes rewriting most of the chapter.

I visited their Discord channel today. Only new messages were spam. Most devs learn how to add moderation bots to their server after the first few times it happens.

A disappointing end to a game with lots of potential. I accepted that the remake would take time, but now it's beyond clear this time will be infinite.

I had bad feeling when the previous artist left, but I kept hoping that the game will be finished somehow. Some players even "prayed" for the game to be abandoned just because and now congrats, it'll happen! What I don't understand is why Lolly stopped showing weekly reports of the progress...

Pure speculation here, but based on my experience she may be one of those clients that are just impossible to work with. 1st artist left due to dispute, I think the whole thing might have repeated itself.

Chapter 3 is the game with the new art, whereas Ch 5 is the game with the old art ( it contains all the previous chapter, also), I would suggest to play both, but it's up to you.
The new chapters (if and when they will come out) will be different since the dev is rewriting them from what I gathered.

Take your pick. Just know that the ch 5 version will NEVER be continued - it's the one with the old artist. As for ch 3 (which is as far as the rework has gone), the consensus around here is that it won't be continued either. We haven't heard word-one from the developer in nearly a year.

If we are going to be honest with ourselves, the "bad feeling" started right with the first release where the dev said something like she needs to see lots of subscribers to keep motivated.

That was in the middle of COVID. Since then, she's likely back to her original job and this is not longer as big a cash cow as she saw it in the past.

I was not there when she said thad - I discovered the game in a later time. My first bad feeling arose when she was doing the remake and at first, she put it as if it would be no big deal. But then, in her planning, there were alsmost half a year between episodes. I think this happened directly after she released part 1 of the remake.

But yeah, the thing about Covid, no modeling jobs, her friend being successful with a game and (maybe) her being a girl with interested for faster money (like in modeling) and not hard work (as doing a very successfull VN in the long run) - you are possibly right. But why put a project to death if it still makes some money.
