If you mean in the Heaven stage, then it's just the positions on a clock. The number of statues in the middle also tell you which portal you should take.
PS: iirc, taking the wrong portal at the 6:00 part gives you some nice bonuses.

Most of the game's files are missing when I download this, basically unplayable. Starts off needing the Gothic font, I add it and then there are more and more missing files that it says and stops the game from running.
I've tried replacing the files from other games, but ended up running into graphical bugs and more crashes. Any clues to why the files are missing?

I've seen some games where if you unzip in the wrong locale, the file names turn to garbage. You might want to check if there are files with garbage names.
I changed my system locale to Japanese, restarted the PC, and extracted the files. still missing. There are very few files that I find have bad names. The zip is supposed to be 279 MB (262 MB packed), right?
Also, no matter where or how I download this game, there are still missing files. I haven't tried torrents, but I'm not looking forward to it.
I got to the point where I got Lust Spark, beat Alp, and unlocked the repair shop but I cant seem to find where to get the item to cut the ivy in the woods. The guide says you get it from the guy in Harmonia's bar but he still just talks about the underground waterway and says that they're closed.

Some of you may know this already, but there's a simple way to gain coins in the casino besides getting lucky. It works on a small screen, not full screen. You can freeze the game by double clicking then holding uh...the blue part? on a small screen. That way you can know what the next slot is. You can right click to freeze the game too, but I prefer double clicking for consistency. All you need is some patience and some handskill. Anyway, hope some will view this helpful

It's located south from Harmonia town, before the broken bridge. It's on the left side of the map. You can play poker and slot machine there. However, I think the prize is not that special. It's just some additional cloth, accessories to improve your stats. I only do it cus I'm a perfectionist
