Sorry to say but I think this one may be dead. Anyone who's been around the AVN world for a while should know that no news is most definitely bad news. It's been well over a month since the last communication from the dev on Patreon.

You're probably right. I just wish we could petition the mods to mark this game as abandoned, as it 99% is. Scallywag was active on Discord practically every day before March of this year. Now?

Last post on Patreon was 19th of June, and last Discord message was in May.

He literally doesn't even respond to DMs.

Like it matters about that tag...

And the rules say when it can be marked as such.

1. Abandoned: used in the following cases:
   • The developer states that the development has been permanently suspended.
   • After 3 months of inactivity from the developer's public creator/crowdfunding accounts (Patreon, SS, etc), we will resolve special circumstances or scenarios on a case-by-case basis (no creator accounts, creators developing for free, Patreon accounts under review/ban).
   • No game update has been released for an abnormally long period of time (>18 months).
   • Game threads that are marked On-hold for over 6 months with no game update.
   • Note: this prefix is only removed upon the release of a new update for purchase/download.

Scally has been spotted on discord a few times this month. So maybe he is still working but doesn’t tell anyone for whatever reason.

His Patreon is tanking and since his last update, he's lost 100s of dollars a month in subscriptions. If he was actively working on the game and intended to release it anytime soon, he wouldn't allow that to happen. He's permanently ruined his reputation and a lot of supporters will never support him again even if a release does come out. Like myself. It isn't like he isn't aware that he's doing this.

The reality is that high quality games like this one take a lot of work, more than a regular 9-5 job. And every dev thinks their game will be the next Being A Dik, without realizing it took years for BaD to build their fanbase. So after a year of developing and never breaking 2k a month, they burn out and quit. I can't tell you how many times devs have followed this exact path with disappearing, returning and claiming their family member is sick but they are about to release an update, teasers, then disappearing again, to ultimately just abandon the game.

I've gotten to know quite a few devs and a good chunk of them absolutely despise their fanbase. They think they're entitled to their money and resent the concept of being held accountable for what they owe people who are paying them. It's how they justify what's ultimately stealing from people.

A better option would be to speed things(the plot) up in 0.6 and 0.7. With the 0.7 release bringing the end to LustfulVoyage. Even if each release takes 1 year. It just sucks when there is no conclusion, but 0.5 is clearly introducing new characters. So at least two more chapters after 0.5 would be needed.

I always find games I really enjoy just as the developer decides to abandon their community.

It is refreshing that, except for the guy playing fantasy dev-ball, not many people here are coping hard and defending the dev ghosting and abandoning.
