Because if he tells people he isn't working on the game, he will lose all of his subs. He logs onto discord frequently but never says anything, so it isn't like he isn't around.
He's been grifting for 8 months now and he's clearly reached the point where he knows he can't post anymore "spoilers" or "sneak peeks". Saying anything other than "the game is coming out this month" will cause a collapse of his game, especially with his higher tier subscribers. So keeping silent gives them hope and they keep supporting.

None. Game is abandoned. On August 19th, it will officially be 2 months since the developer's last communication. F95's rule for getting the abandoned tag is 3 months of radio silence.any news ?

The developer has already finished most of the update, but he is suffering from depression after the death of his parents.
It would have been better to release the update and then announce that the game is abandoned, rather than throwing all this work and effort in the trash if it’s declared abandoned now.

His parents didn't die. You have no idea why he has abandoned the game. You have no idea how much of the update has been completed. He still logs onto discord. He hasn't communicated with anyone, including you.

what happaned to this game and its update?
nothing against scallywag since it seems we don't know what happaned and what the issues/problems are but i really like REALLY hate when creatos of games want to make "crazy big updates" and then got stuck somewhere or just leave it and i also hate when i get teased with characters i wanna see more of (like here isabella) and in other games even male characters and then the creators just drops the game even promising x scene and x character will come in the "next" update.

Yup. Abandoning a game feels terrible, and we're all sad about it.
But keeping the game's Patreon page online all this time is not negligence - it's straight-up malicious intent. And that's how you piss off your fans that otherwise might've waited for years for your return if you bothered to say anything about development status.
Exactly. The bottom line is he knowingly gaslit people and has taken their money for months with no intent of releasing an update. There is no excuse no matter how bad whatever the situation is. Think of the mindset of a person who promises they won't abandon the game, doesn't communicate for months, but still takes thousands of dollars from people. That's a legitimate "fuck you" to every person that has ever supported him.

Don't worry, my sons. He's returning, I'm sure of that... nah, who knows. I stopped my support in early August. There are other devs who make a better work, either with their updates and communicating with their fans/supporters, than our distant friend Scallywag. Such a shame, since I did liked the pirate setting and lewd scenes were good.

The best part about the whole situation is how the dev promised to extend subs for free for the month of June as a token of apology & until the update releases... but then abandoned the game with such a wanton disregard that it's back to automatic charging (since creators have to manually pause billings for every month). If that isn't proof of abandonment, I don't know what is...
