I sort of get your comment, but 18 months? From what I have read a few times, in different forums, 1 YEAR (12 months) is what everybody understood as a good deadline to label a VN as abandoned. Just because you keep repeating 18 months, it won't make it the new accepted deadline. "Lustful Voyage" of course hasn't crossed the 1 year mark, with the Christmas update qualifying as the last update IMO.
P.S: VNs like BADIK carry so much that I believe they the word game fits them more than VN. A case can be made for those to in-no-way be considered abandoned. But you can probably count those with one hand.

Ok, congrats on using the word ironic to point out I made an assumption from reading some posts... Dude, I know I did. There is no "food for thought" cause you have provided no info, no facts, no theories, etc. that I would actually take to rethink my take, and maybe change it.
And I'll take the chance to point out the subscribers in Patreon of a particular VN + moderators of the forum are the minority in the forum, so not the "everybody" I was refering to. Another assumption I am making, more food for thought right!!!???
P.S_ I respect F95-admin's 18 months take, and I still disagree with it. Can't be the only one. Just freedom of speech, and move it to 5 years for all I care.

The 18 month rule isn't the only one. There are 3 rules in total, and each serves as a sort of a "safeguard" that the 'abandoned' tag isn't slapped onto everything as soon as fans start crying.

It's actually a well thought-out system. Scallywag will sooner be guilty of the 3-months without communication than 18-months without an update, but who knows.

This is the second time the dev has gone radio silent for 1 month straight, whereas before they constantly talked with fans on Discord. Which is the reason I finally unsubbed, but unfortunately, I know a lot of 20$+ subs that are still subbed for some reason.

I think the update will eventually come out too but that doesnt mean he's off the hook. This guy used to update the game around every 2 months, this ones gone on for far too long and thats fine, irl problems happen. But not talking to paying supporters, pushing back updates month after month is just scummy.

all will not be forgiven just because he released the update, he has permanently damaged his reputation at this point but the update will be a good starting point to start building back some trust.

Like HeheBwoi said, Scallywag has permanently ruined his reputation with how he handled 0.5 development. We've crossed the point of being upset at the update being delayed - we're angry that he refuses to communicate!

From the start, the dev was extremely active on Discord; he would often come in, drop some memes, spoiler renders, and just talk about sports or pop-culture with us.

Now, the last word from him on Discord was in MAY, and he does not respond to DMs or pings at all.

Completely unacceptable behaviour from a once treasured developer. No excuses, and no matter the tragedy - it doesn't take much to drop once a week on Discord and just say you're working on it... or not working on it. ANYTHING to let the fans know the dev is even alive.

I don’t think it helps or encourages Scally though him giving a short update would quiet everyone down.

No excuse for not jumping into Discord once a week to let us know. No excuse. The grind isn't such that you can't take a literal MINUTE to say hi to people.
