Does anyone have information on when they might release an update
No information yet. Last weekly report was back in October and last information at all was about the people working on this game moving together some week back.

I just hope that the team is OK, it is very concerning tbh that we haven't heard from them in 3 months.

Genuinely brave for the team to do this much backtracking and revision early in the creation. I went from 0.3 to 0.6, and I was surprised by how much less content there was. It feels like as much has been removed as added between the two versions I've played.

It also feels like it's been extremely the right call for a lot of key characters. Jade as a character is just as strong but her relationship feels like it's much more fun to develop, Lilith especially feels like she has a lot more going on. It sucks as an audience in January 2025, but I expect it to feel much better as an audience a year from now.

0.1 to 0.3 had something similar going on so it has been an on-going issue for a while now.
Game had a fantastic start with great momentum but the constant removal, reworking, and remaking of content killed off most of the momentum it had.
At one point it took them so long to get an update out they said they had removed a character but nobody had any idea who the character was because it was THAT long between updates.
Does not help the latest updates have had you chasing endlessly introducing secondary characters while you get less and less content somehow with the main cast.

I mean, if you're gonna do reworks, they had *better* be in the beginning. That's when it's the most impactful and uses the least effort.

A lot of people will agree reworks should be left for after completion.
The game was fine before reworks and remake and people would actively give it 5 stars on here and it was generally very well received.
Now? Not so much and the overall rating it gets when people care to review is roughly a 3.
And some of the reworked stuff was just downright hated by the community damaging their reputation even further.

I am sure in time they could possibly escape the brand of being known for remakes and reworks on a whim but for now they did undeniably just damage their reputation.

A lot of people might agree that, but those people are wrong and none of them are developers.

It's very simple - a game has assets. Static chunks of data which are arranged with some mechanics to make the game itself. When you rework the game, you have to change some number of those assets and their related mechanics.

When a game is early in development, there are fewer mechanics and fewer assets.

We can presume all future assets are made in accordance with whatever the most recent remake is.

Therefore, a remake done early in development is quicker and easier, because it's changing fewer assets and mechanics.

The ratings really don't matter. The reworks also were not hated by the community. I don't know where you're getting all this.

Is there some sensical reason for jade_1.rpy and angelika_cooks.rpy to be outside the /game folder in this game? I don't think Renpy can read them from there...

I would have to agree with Karnewarrior here. The best timing for a remake, if any, is partway through development, when the amount of data is still more manageable, and everything about where the data is organized is still fresh in their minds. Also, I have a lot of respect for developers in general, and it seems rather interesting to me, that the most vocal critics in the community are those who are on this site in particular, for reasons that may be obvious. I'd rather that the developers be comfortable with their game as they make it, and be critical of their own work to that end while it's still in development.
