Honestly, I enjoy the dev, cool game, but the characters were all good looking in the first version. (Maybe minus the Mc.) I just like my sleepy queen.

I'm glad to see your optimism although not share it. Time will show who is right or wrong. My point is that game story hasn't even progressed to the middle in two years. I'm agree with you that game has an unique style and i want to believe like you that project will live but little content so far doesn't sound reassuring
People should be learn to be patient. The dev has been trying to improve and refine parts of the game. You expect this dev to have the game done in a short amount of time is not reasonable. Even triple A games required numerous years for their completion, and they have large teams for them.

I did not say that they had to finish the development of the game in two years, I say that the game is not even close to the middle. Not to mention that the story progress of characters in the game is also not close to the middle. We have only one vaginal sex in game and then it was removed for the sake of updates.

If the devs see my message, I want to apologize for my skepticism. My message is not intended to offend your game.

Scoob, what everyone's trying to tell you is that a game not being half finished by the two year mark isn't abnormal. Indeed, it would be remarkably fast production if Maeve's Academy was half-finished by now.

We're over a quarter of the way into the story at this point, which is about the rate one would expect of a professional team, making development on this indie project very fast indeed.

Are you sure about that ? I very rarely write comments (I actually did it once on this site.) I am interested in the project. But It doesn't look like a quarter way. Anyway like i said before time will show

I'm fairly certain, yes. Confident, even.

We're solidly in the Rising Action. The pieces are all in play and most of the characters introduced. What's going to happen next is the author's going to begin slamming plothooks into each other until the climax, when they all untangle at once. That'll take the second and third quarters to accomplish. Then there'll be the falling action at the end.

To say nothing of the fact game development heavily frontloads work, for a pretty logical reason. Once the developer HAS the assets, they don't need to make them again, usually. So it takes significantly longer for the game to go from start to half-finished than it does from half-finished to totally done.

It's doubtful about quarter way. I hope you're right about the rest.

yeah, no. the dev is being stupid with how they develop this. Each and every update in the past like 2 years has been 95% unnecessarily reworking and redoing a bunch of old shit that worked just fine while adding like 2 minutes of new content. The dev should absolutely be focusing on adding more new content and polishing it up once they have a more finished product

wouldn't say they're stupid for doing that, what you COULD say is that they're a perfectionist that's doing unneccessary changes but again that's how perfectionism works the developer is unhappy with how it looks just let em do what he wants it's his game and if you're unhappy with it you're welcome to either leave or give constructive cricitism and not straight up insult their work and say it's 'unneccessary to rework a bunch of old shit that worked just fine'
there is always room for improvements

It's also drastically overstating the number of reworks and understating the amount of new content.

At the end of the day, there's like what... 4? 5? sex scenes (probably like 7 or 8 if I'm being generous.). In its current state there's not a whole lot of meat on the bone to really differentiate it from any other sex game, with the main thing being the art style doing a majority of the heavy lifting. For example, I don't think making Maeve "Even more thiccer" is a particularly good use of the dev's time, especially with the lack of things to really do.

If it's supposed to be a dating sim it's not doing a particularly good job at either part (you can't date anyone, nor is the simulation aspect there).

I want this dev to succeed, I want to like this game. But a charming art style can only carry a game so far. The dev IMHO needs to knuckle down, making some actual "open world" content, allowing the player to work on dating a specific character if they want. Cause at the moment it's more a kinetic novel than anything else. (you have to do XYZ to progress the story.). They don't need to complete a girl's dating branch in one update or anything. But they do need to at least give the player a prerogative on who they want to date.

Either way that's my 2 cents on the topic from having played the newest version available. TLDR: if you want to make it a dating sim actually make a dating sim. Not this... kinetic smut/romance novel that it currently is effectively like.

There is 8, actually, I just looked. Compared to other animated games, particularly animated 2D as opposed to stock Koikatsu animations, that's a lot. It also doesn't count lewd scenes without a CG, like meeting Lulu in the bath, or the scenes that got scrapped, like the other Jade scene.

These scenes also don't really need to be done in order. Some do precede others, but there's usually 2-3 quests active you can persue at any given time and there's some variance among who's next to get a CG. That's not a kenetic novel, just a regular VN. You don't need giant sweeping changes of plot to not be a Kenetic Novel. Nobody beat the first God of War and went "Damn, that Kenetic Novel went hard", that would be quite silly. But it doesn't exactly have branching story paths either.

I also fundamentally disagree with the idea that a charming art style can't carry a porn VN. 'Cuz it definitely can. Animated 2D is really rare, for porn games, GOOD animated 2D even moreso. Maeve's Academy doesn't need to do anything special and, indeed, could just have not a lot of sex compared to other VNs and still do well. The art style is very important when it's porn, which is a primarily visual medium. The writing is also good, which is a plus. I'll never turn up my nose at more sex scenes - and the character sheets definitely imply there's gonna be a lot of them, for each girl - but I don't think they're desperately needed right this moment. I'm here for the porn with plot. If I didn't want good writing and good art in my porn I'd be over on NHentai jerking it to your waifu.

The quests heavily 'suggest' you actively do them in a set order with a very select couple (You can for example ignore the elf priestess's quest if you so please, but aside from that I can't think of another quest as of now that you are able to ignore it in favor of other stuff. (now it's still technically early in development but it goes against it being advertised as a sandbox like say Hard Times in Hornstown and other similar games in the same genre as what Maeve's Academy is suggesting it wants to be. Now I won't discuss their quality compared to Maeve's Academy)

But at the end of the day, there are no real choices to be made at the most current version. If your options are "Yes", or "Yes, but funny option." That's once again not a sandbox. That's more akin to a kinetic novel than a visual novel as there are no real choices to be made. Can you honestly tell me about one choice you as the player made that would affect the story if you picked a different option?

Cooming close to comparing this game to Fallout 4, and I'm never gonna unsee it if you do.
