or you could use the patch I created which fixes it so you can play the game properly (couldn't test it since I didn't have a save but it should work. If not I'll look again. I checked all the events associated with the skills that the boss uses and found no further errors but anything can happen.)

Update on my error: when I saw jap chars in the titles, I basically ran the game in japanese locale emulator as I do for every japanese game and it always works except here, so it probably was not the case. Furthermore, I tried then to run the game outside of locale and it didn't work either. Then I tried to run the game in locale emulator + admin, and this worked.
Didn't try admin without the locale emulator though.

I feel like someone who pirates games doesn't really have a right to complain about quality. Translating games is a lot of work and fan translators aren't exactly paid to do it. The way I see it, sure you can be annoyed about MTLs since they are usually gibberish, but as long as you can understand what's going on you don't really have a right to complain. You especially don't have the right to directly callout a fan translator to tell them that their work is bad, without them there wouldn't be a translation at all. Don't like the translation then learn Japanese and maybe make a translation yourself.

I got past the syntax error with the first battle by not running in all gungho and instead go around to the back and enter there and you'll be in front of the girls and away from that demon who took your shit away from you if you ran in all gungho.

Here's the real overview story:

In 1912, there is a noble American girl - Rose, she tried to get away from her arranged married which is forced by her mother. At the same time, she met Jack. who is the young man on Titenic. Since Rose made a friend with Jack, he lighted on her life. They were also fall in love with each other. It made up a very touching and tragic love story.

Technically speaking, there are... reasons why post-WW2 Japan insists on calling its armed forces 'self-defense force'. I'll leave it just there, partly because I don't know much about it and partly because I have a hunch that's a potential drama fuel.

I might be missing some context, but do you mean the guy I was replying to or the person they mentioned? Cause I thought he was just insulting a random translator.

From what I saw when first starting out shine slash is good and keeps getting better with each level up.

Next good skill is protection once you unlock that it should be the first skill used in boss battles as it protects as well as prevents grabby Mc grab grab from grabbing the player then you can shine them to death.

Later when you unlock regeneration you can use protection followed by regeneration to keep your players HP up and not have to worry about healing.

When you hit the ark area and start fighting you should unlock the skill double action which allows you to do two moves for 6 turns which is nice.

But a few levels after getting that you'll get an even better skill that when used with double action can really help you deal huge damage and that is the skill overglow which doubles all parameters for 5 turns.

At level 29 I was hitting the end bosses with 8K+ damage and when attacking 2 times in a row you can really dish out the damage. Also some of the enemies attacks didn't do any damage as well.
