I'll say this now before getting into any full blown reviews.
v0.20 actually fixed a majority of my nitpicks I've had about the game in a way that doesn't piss me off
I even get more fighting
The lack of solid grind in an RPG is utter blasphemy so the work around and a full blown war arc solve that, to say nothing of finding out the truth of our birth and FINALLY FUCKING BEING ABLE TO GIVE OURSELVES A PROPER NAME!
.... I did chuckle at how the dev likely threw in a nice fuck you by preemptively shitting on whatever the name we pick would be.
A fair compromise if that were the case, if not.. oh well
I'm a very old school RPG enthusiast who values self insert and player customized PCs to any preset stuff.
This was a case of both worlds that doesn't involve a silent protag. I like silent protags myself but I get most modern players don't... Feh.

If nothing else, I appreciate the dev's efforts to give fans what they want without compromising their own vision
Mad respect.

I think I missed getting Iris though.... Kinda bums me out, but it at least gives me a reason to play again later. Not now though. This is a pretty hefty game, in a good way. But, I'm too far in and invested to start over just for Iris... Bleh
Oh, and making Archie my biddy and seeing the consequences of my choices through my run really makes me appreciate the long game you've been playing with all this! Good shit and something I'm trying to relaly learn from myself.

Anyway, a more detailed critique later. Overall, the game got better with age. Good times.

Alrighty! Finished up v0.20 and... wow!
It was quite impressive.
This one update did quite a bit of filling in the blanks for some loose plot threads and.... giving more things to ask about.... Good job!

Bianca, Katrina, and Alice really cemented being my favorites of the main maids so far.
The war was honestly pretty satisfying without being overly complicated. Double kudos for getting it to work without plugins. It must've been a bitch to event all that out! Man, that's nuts.

As for the reveals themselves?
.... Well, tbh, I'm betting a lot of guessed that we were the fantasy equivalent of a designer baby. I was just surprised how busted we were though....
Like, seriously.... That's... a LOT of power....
Good thing we're kind of a simpleton....
Esmerelda was cool though. I liked her.
But, yeah... I like but have mixed feelings about so much of the supporting cast.
The truckloads of grey is something else. In a good way.

But, now that we're approaching the last quarter of the game... Man, I can't wait.

Oh, I did have a funny bug of being teleported in as Kala when speaking to Teely.
It went away after I went up and down the stairs though.
I do hope we get some character quests for the main girls though.
Bianca and Willow, especially now that she knows who Katrina really is.
And Odette... Oh man... I hope she gets some closure.
If ANYONE deservers some closure, it'd be her....

But yeah, I don't really have anything bad to say about the update itself other than hoping we tie up some character threads.
Oh, I did find it funny that Beverly literally came back out of nowhere like that....
I do have mixed feelings about Griselda though. I liked her, but... she was kind of a shit person. Though, I think that really applies to everyone who's a Master huh... even digital us, though we're still a whole lot better than a lot of the others. Again, being simple works in our favor.

You just need to be adjacent to them (including diagonals) and they'll attack you.
It's set up so they check for any of your squads being adjacent first, then they move, then they check again, so you don't need to worry about them moving out of range or anticipating where they'll move next to catch them.
it seems i have one or maybe two bugs. looking at the scans that were published on page 83 it seems to me that on the war map, in addition to the enemies, my maids should also appear to whom i can give combat instructions. the problem is that my maids do not appear, and all i can do is enter and exit my villa, my village, my uncle's villa and Lotario's villa losing a turn each time. fortunately i think i found a second bug that allowed me to bypass this problem. using the headstone in my basement, if i select to be transported to the forest, it allows me to travel freely anywhere, like before the war, so i was able to go and visit all the areas occupied by the enemy and liberate them, but i only had the team composed of the headmaid and the secretary at my disposal. every time i finished liberating an area from the enemy and returned to the world map i found myself again unable to give orders to the maids and for this i had to go through the headstone in the basement again. all this until i arrived at griselda's villa and spoke to beverly. in fact after that my maids appeared on the world map, superimposed on each other, in the top left corner, but even if i was now able to give them maneuver orders, they were not able to move from their position, to be able to chase the enemy. so all i could do was wait for beverly to arrive at my mansion and defeat him there, having only the team of the headmaid and the secretary, as in the final battle where beverly has the axe. by the way, does the priestess have to die or is there a way to save her?
P.S. after i return to my mansion after the last battle with beverly and the end of update message my game is still in bugged war mode. when i go to the map melissa appears again and tells me to go to clannnestad to fight beverly, even though there is no one there, because i already killed him

Definitely a bug. Thanks for calling that out!
Fixed for v0.22.

And now to split some things up to talk about individual points.
I even get more fighting

This was a case of both worlds that doesn't involve a silent protag. I like silent protags myself but I get most modern players don't... Feh.
I debated with myself a lot on how to handle all the combat during the war. I made a lot of game balance decisions early on that I absolutely stand by (like combat encounters being one-offs; basically nothing is infinite, which is 100% by design), but given that this is supposed to be going into the final stretch of the game and you're supposed to feel like you have your shit together (as opposed to the start of the game where it takes Melissa and Phoebe together a few rounds to punch a single wolf to death and getting poisoned by a snake probably means going back to Cumhaill to sleep it off), I wanted the war to be as strong of an indicator as possible for how far you've come and what you're capable of now that you've put the work in.

As far as the silent protag thing - I can't really speak to whether it's a modern trend or not, but I generally dislike protagonists without their own personality. It's come up in the thread a few times before.
Though I admit I also dislike a lot of recent protags with "too much" personality (like Forspoken's MC, but I think that counts as bad writing more than a bad design decision). The "quirky fun trauma=depth" characters are rarely quirky or fun or all that deep.
To the same end, names have specific meaning in the setting. Not quite in the same "true name" or onomancy kind of ways that usually pertain to demons or fae, . A good portion of the story necessitates the MC being the way he is, including being nameless.

Mad respect.
And I appreciate that. It's a fine line to walk between making the game I want to make while still accepting legitimate criticism and feedback and adjusting accordingly.
As much as it's pretty obvious at this point that the game is very much not for everyone (and I've seen too many games go too far into giving fans what they say they want and making a worse game or miserable dev(s) as a result), I do still want the people who decide to give it a shot to enjoy it.

I think I missed getting Iris though.... Kinda bums me out, but it at least gives me a reason to play again later. Not now though. This is a pretty hefty game, in a good way. But, I'm too far in and invested to start over just for Iris... Bleh

Only if you managed to be forever enemies with Archibald.
And I am trying to figure out a good way for her to be recruitable after the fact if you did piss him off, but that's not coming until v0.23 at the earliest.

Bianca, Katrina, and Alice really cemented being my favorites of the main maids so far.
The war was honestly pretty satisfying without being overly complicated. Double kudos for getting it to work without plugins. It must've been a bitch to event all that out! Man, that's nuts.
You have no idea. Just the "rest" command is a few dozen lines of scripting.
There's a reason v0.20 took almost two months to come out.

As for the reveals themselves?
.... Well, tbh, I'm betting a lot of guessed that we were the fantasy equivalent of a designer baby. I was just surprised how busted we were though....
Like, seriously.... That's... a LOT of power....

But, now that we're approaching the last quarter of the game... Man, I can't wait.
Just like there's a reason the big bad killed your parents.
I forget the term for it, but there's an idea that certain knowledge shouldn't be made public, even in an ideal world where all knowledge is freely shared, because simply possessing that knowledge could cause harm to yourself, those around you, or even society as a whole.
That's exactly the sort of thing Pater was researching.
There's also a separate angle of Master not liking that he has the power he does and him not being great at using it (yet), but that's getting into spoiler territory.

That's also kinda the point of all the other Masters being morally grey (or worse). By the time you learn what exactly it is you're supposed to be capable of, the idea that the ability could just be handed out to anyone (and the realization that a majority of them are actively looking for it via the cult) should be a conclusion you reach all on your own, and should make you real uncomfortable.

Oh, I did have a funny bug of being teleported in as Kala when speaking to Teely.
It went away after I went up and down the stairs though.
I'm having trouble replicating that. Does it happen every time you select the same option?
If so, could you tell me which option that is?
It sounds like the same costume check bug that I can never seem to completely squash, so it should be easy to fix, but finding the specific cause is always a pain.

I do hope we get some character quests for the main girls though.
Bianca and Willow, especially now that she knows who Katrina really is.
And Odette... Oh man... I hope she gets some closure.
If ANYONE deservers some closure, it'd be her....
That's the plan for v0.23. v0.22 will be the penultimate story update, v0.23 will be getting all the side content caught up and fully implemented (including character quests to give all the Maids their character arcs and tell their stories away from the main plot), and then update after that is v1.0.

I'm glad you enjoyed it. I've been working toward this for a long time, and now that it's done, it actually feels kinda surreal that I'm so close to done.

it seems i have one or maybe two bugs. looking at the scans that were published on page 83 it seems to me that on the war map, in addition to the enemies, my maids should also appear to whom i can give combat instructions. the problem is that my maids do not appear, and all i can do is enter and exit my villa, my village, my uncle's villa and Lotario's villa losing a turn each time.
That is definitely a bug. I'm fairly certain I know what causes it (with the result being that all of your squads are incorrectly teleported up into the top left corner of the map), but despite a handful of bug fixes and patches, it seems like there's still a method I'm missing that allows you to get far enough along in the war that the tutorial event doesn't trigger the way it should.
If you have the Clown Nose, Punchinella has an option to Reset Squads. Selecting that will fix that positioning bug for you.

fortunately i think i found a second bug that allowed me to bypass this problem. using the headstone in my basement, if i select to be transported to the forest, it allows me to travel freely anywhere, like before the war, so i was able to go and visit all the areas occupied by the enemy and liberate them, but i only had the team composed of the headmaid and the secretary at my disposal. every time i finished liberating an area from the enemy and returned to the world map i found myself again unable to give orders to the maids and for this i had to go through the headstone in the basement again. all this until i arrived at griselda's villa and spoke to beverly. in fact after that my maids appeared on the world map, superimposed on each other, in the top left corner, but even if i was now able to give them maneuver orders, they were not able to move from their position, to be able to chase the enemy. so all i could do was wait for beverly to arrive at my mansion and defeat him there, having only the team of the headmaid and the secretary, as in the final battle where beverly has the axe.
That also sounds like a bug. One that's easy enough to fix, but doesn't really solve the core issue of your squads being shoved into that top left corner in the first place.
I've never been able to replicate that bug, so if you could provide more information about how you started the war, I'd greatly appreciate it.
For example, when the war first started and you had to go visit Lothario, were you on the war map and Melissa explained how it worked, or did you go through the normal version of the region map? If so, where did you go to reach the normal region map?
Anything you can tell me, even if it seems like an inconsequential detail, can help me narrow down why this happened so I can properly fix it.

by the way, does the priestess have to die or is there a way to save her?
P.S. after i return to my mansion after the last battle with beverly and the end of update message my game is still in bugged war mode. when i go to the map melissa appears again and tells me to go to clannnestad to fight beverly, even though there is no one there, because i already killed him
Like I said when someone else asked - that lost soul has found her way home.
I had someone else report the same issue with being stuck on the war map, too, so it's already in my notes to investigate further. Strangely enough, it's also something I can't seem to replicate and they reported having the same issue at the start of the war, which makes me think the two are linked somehow.
I haven't been able to find anything in the scripting that indicates being stuck on the war map as even being possible, so if you can remember any other details about the end of the fight, or if you did something specific after being teleported back to your Estate, or if you were never teleported back, or if you're still stuck there (in which case, if you don't mind sharing your numbered save and global.rmmzsave files so I can take a more direct look) that would be a big help.

I also thought I had the issue with no maids appearing at the start of the war, but noticed that what actually happened was that my maids immediately got teleported to the very top left corner of the war map. Whenever I open the war map the maids to appear for like a second, maybe less before they "disappear", so still can't do much in the war, but the maids do exist on the map, just all 3 squads stuck on the same "square" way out of the way. Not sure if that is the same issue others are having or not, but figured more information can't hurt you figuring out what the issue is.

Yeah, that sounds like the same issue. I know how it's happening and what it does, and how to fix it manually if it happens.
What I'm having trouble figuring out is why it's happening in the first place.

You don't have permission to view the spoiler content. Log in or register now.

The version uploaded here includes a fix pre-patched in; but for some reason it's still happening, but only to the player squads, and only sometimes.
Which, generally speaking, is not how computers work. They do exactly and specifically what they're told, which means I'm missing something, and I have no idea what that could be.

Anyway, let's try this patch. (WORTIGER you can see if this works for you, too)
It basically does the same thing as what I mention the previous fix does in the spoiler, but in a slightly different order that should give more immediate results instead of potentially needing to leave and re-open the war map.
To apply it, extract the .rar into the main Maids & Masters game folder, and overwrite when prompted.
If you don't get the prompt, you extracted it in the wrong place; that map673.json belongs in the data folder.

Let me know if it works and I'll add it to the OP.

Could someone please tell me exactly what do I need to do to get the VIP trophy? (Ambrose City)
I want to make sure I can recruit Iris, but I can't figure out exactly what I need to do. Already bought the restaurant and tea shop VIP passes, also purchased the contract with the little shop in the northeastern corner of the city, but can't find any other "VIP" or special purchases anywhere.

Also, curse you dev, I came here looking for interactive pron and now I'm 32 hours deep into a story RPG.

I don't know the exact amount, but I'm sure you have to spend a lot of money in the shops as well. After you unlock it though make sure to visit the Stay Clean Quarterly office as well. Was what really made unlocking it worth it for me. Because you can have photo shoots done with your girls that are like the ones in the dirty mags you occasionally find on bookshelves and the occasional dresser in estates. Was a really well done touch especially Phoebe and Katrina. Though all were really well done.

As far as recruiting Iris you can get the item needed to recruit her for free later on before the freeze hits. Just have to follow the storyline, and it is loot in one of the estates you visit as long as you are a loot goblin like I am you can't miss it. Can also get a contract for it later which is a good idea in general. Emily works hard to get us contracts is the least we can do to return the favor and invest.

meow382 mostly beat me to it. It's not just buying the VIP stuff in particular, it's buying everything.
Except the repeatable stuff. I'm not that much of a jerk. You only need the one-off purchases. Then you get the trophy by picking it up from another shop, and all the special options (like the Stay Clean Quarterly photoshoots) open up.

Also like meow382 said, you can come back later to recruit Iris. The only way to lock yourself out of recruiting her is if you end up being enemies with Archibald by the end of the segment, which you have lots of opportunities to avoid.

I had a hard time finding this the last time it was reported. Thanks for the extra specificity, it made the bug a lot easier to find and fix.
Now fixed for v0.22.

I'm glad you like it!
Gen Urobuchi said the main thing, but you may also need to choose a wrong answer first. If you use the cancel mechanic and nothing happens, choose any option then try again.
Also, you only need to do this with the two larger flames. The smaller flames are just traps.

İs it have futa on male? Or like femdom and reverse thing etc.
A couple scenes have the option for a male on futa variant, and there's a few scenes that are futa on futa or futa on female, but there's no futa on male.
