I mean, if you have the Dengi invasion start while the Republic is at its weakest then personal heroism being the only thing that might save it feels appropriate, especially given it is an explicitly optional opt in challenge.

Additional mechanics which let you mess with stuff is cool, but it also undermines the end game crisis vibes if you can undermine the invasion too easily in turn.

Exactly, this game just showed a moment of greatness! A player roleplayed as they wanted, took an extremely risky decision and it backfired spectacularly, yet, when you think about it, predictably. An actually well-designed RPG campaign twist!

It put stakes in the larger narrative! If you want to be a big-shot in Ikaanos, to seize the reins from Mordecai, be prepared for big consequences. That's good story arc design.

It surely can be further tweaked and perfected and a "WARNING, if you eff up it's GAME OVER" sign in red is a must...

But, bravo to GD-studios, a real pleasure (y)

Telling a player "either you must be a killing machine or you must invest all your free time during two months doing nothing" it´s not a moment of greatness in my book.

It´s telling a player "The only way to play it´s to be a killing machine", making the game an unidimensional one.

I mean, that isn't quite what happened, it is more 'If you choose to press the button that makes an End Game crisis happens when you are not a combat monster and you just got done spearheading a coup that left the nations government incredibly weak, you are probably kind of fucked.'
Which isn't so much, you can only play one way, and is more, don't press the hard, game ending combat challenge button if you want to role play bad at combat dude

Some more content to undermine the Dengi invasion is certainly warranted and welcome. I just think that the crisis only really has meaning if their is the potential for loss and having the invasion land when Ikaanos is at its weakest due to poor timing by the player, while the player refuses to or is too weak to step up and resolve the crisis themselves does not feel like an unreasonable loss condition.

No, Seamonkey's point that starting a Skyguard-decimating rebellion in Ikaanos on the eve of an invading force showing up at the gates means getting in deep shit, and rightly so, is the greatness part.

However, I agree there is an imbalance for a 'merchant build' mc on the 'getting out of the deep shit' part.

The current options for dealing with an imminent Dengi invasion are:

1. Do not start the rebellion until after the invasion. - this is currently (v0839) the only viable option for a merchant build.

2. For a 'killing machine' MC - go berserk on the invaders and deal with them yourself.

3. For a merchant build after the rebellion - eat shit and die.

So it would be good to add some options to 3. If your killing machine can get out of the hole with muscle, your merchant should have a way of getting out with money. This could be a really expensive option, like spend 10s of millions emergency-recruiting mercenary companies, bribing a Davidian warband to help, etc. Basically an escape hatch/reward for a dedicated money hoarder, sitting like Smaug on all the piles of gold

I can confirm that the Dengi invasion will get some additional attention in 084 - like extra dialogues and more offensive measures from other great houses, as well as optional ways of interfering them.

The MAIN reason Ikaanos fell in your playthrough, however, is that you chose to unleash the horde during a *very* weak period in the newly founded Third republic's history. 4,000 rebels-turned-Skyguard are an easy match for 5,000 dengis. I'd recommend having at least 10,000 Skyguard troops behind the walls unless you plan on killing the king yourself.
I feel like Aria and the ion cannons on the Mastersphere should be more active, for the other playthroughs. The more skilled she is, the better the chances of triggering an ion cannon bombardment every midnight. Ten thousand Skyguards is a tall ask for playthroughs that prioritize having high control and prosperity for merchant operations, since I am not sure if the Skyguards undergo push for power events. If donating money raises Skyguard troops, then yeah, it could also be an option.

Correct me if I understand you wrong. You are telling me that I need either turn myself in a killing machine and be able to defeat the Dengi King by myself or the alternative it´s play let´s say some hundreds (or thousands) of days doing basically nothing.

Because barring mass recruitment events ( and I have seen none at the moment, and I have seen some that bring down the Sky Guard number by hundreds), with the Republic in Pax Raanica ( before the invasion I was with Control in the high 80s, and going up), the only increase in strength for the Sky Guard it´s the trifle of slaves that I can send to them from the daily bounties, may be one and half or two per day on average.

Not an exciting perspective, really.
If you decide not to fight the dengi king yourself, The Scourge of Raana plays out like a series of society-shattering events (like a combination of Alien Vermin/The Rise of The Confed./The Red Tide) that are meant to leave Ikaanos in a "Dying World" state, if it even survives.

It's part of the lore that leads up to MoR2.

If don't want to risk that, or have a very weak republic, my recommendation is to either wait or never press that button. At least it's optional. ;)

But again, expect more fleshed-out approaches in 0.8.4+.

Oooh, could also have some 'emergency mobilization' events, where a merchant build could spend obscene amounts of cash to try to right the ship!

Raise a regiment of Skyguard veterans for triple pay!

Restore old mothballed howitzers from the Davidian war (house Teresto asks an unreasonable fee for refurbishment)!

Raise a regiment of city militia ('only' 5000 assault rifles + even more money for armor and upkeep)!

etc. :D

It feels like Ezra had a possibility of becoming Judas in time of Dengi invasion depending of how he feels towards aria and mc

Time to put the game to sleep and wait for future updates then.

is there a way to consistently raise your willpower, as we can spend it with occult?
Get morning blowjobs, starting with ball licking.

I think that caps at 90 maybe.

Also high devotion Atheism gives a passive 10% (IIRC) daily chance.

Also killing a Charuck at Hamah Bay gives willpower, don't remember how often it re-spawned, though.

If you're looking for guaranteed wp, spending the night in the expensive rooms on the mastersphere has a 100% chance of wp gains as far as I know but I don't know if there's a cap. I spend 5 nights there when I'm hiring Milou and I always gain 5 wp that way, but that's always at relatively low wp.

The Jail Cell seems to be broken, maybe someone who knows how it's supposed to work could double check.
I have a slave imprisoned, intending for it to lower their willpower. The character page keeps saying "... incarcerated for 0 days." They get hungrier until starving despite the Jail Cell being set to "Auto Food: On", and stating "The Prisoner is fed: Yes." And their willpower stays the same.
This is in the unupgraded Jail Cell the house comes with. Upgrading does not make a difference. When i build a second cell the game names it "Holding Cell", doesn't work either though.

I saw prospecting gear in the general shop and got curious , the wiki gives good info on getting started and how to do it, but not where to sell the product. Gold ore sells for only $7 at the assembly plant. I cant find where to sell the gems at. Does anyone know?

Max HP isn't a stat you can raise directly anymore, it is calculated based on Strength, Stamina, and body type. So raise Str and Stam to max and set body type to the highest for their gender (5 for female, 9 for male)

The Market buys gems directly (Sell Materials, scroll down). They can buy Embryl off me for $6,500 (not sure what else affects prices). Nika buys crafted necklaces from gems. The option will show up once you crafted it and visited him (for example, in my account he will buy an Embryl necklace for $18,000).
