I'll put this out there - I'm a damn sight better coder than the jokers Dr. Sin has working on MP, and if I were doing MP I'd do it in Ren'Py.
One of these days, someone will become the Ren'py Tom of Unity and make a Unity development environment that allows dumdums to click, drag and type without worrying about C# and produce a visual novel that doesn't default to a giant piece of shit or require a full time programmer to debug and optimize.

Until then, we'll have phone interface saves, mouse wheel obsolescence, functionality tacked on in the most bizarre of locations and memory gluttony.

so because he makes a 5k he cant never ever make mistakes or delay a update because like the God he is he cant never make a mistake.....only humans make mistakes....
you know your argument is the most unreasonable i have ever Heard in all my life, and i have been playing games for a decade now lol. Renpy as lovely it is make some games be way too restricted in features thats why he changed but since you did not take the time to read you may not even now that....
also did you take a look how much does it cost the daz3d models, clothes etc? you guys keep looking at the low view.
Lewdlab always had a pretty high payment per patreon, averaging at about $12.5 per patreon before $ numbers were set private (check graphtreon), at 1800 patreon he was making nearly $25k, note that he was over 4000 patreons on average for 4 months at one point. So yes - he is most likely far away from 5k per month and no, daz3d models will not cost him a transplant which he can actually afford few fold. The thing is that from the situation it does look like he doesn't invest as much money as he should be. I did not want to speak too much of this as I am happy for him and what he earned, however we should not forget the amount of even pure weight of money that is, regardless where he is located, but especially as an European or Eastern European. I don't think this is too off topic, but now I am gonna shut up so I don't get banned.

There's a new documentation on Netflix called 'Playing Hard' about the hardships of game development.
I'd strongly recommend watching it since a lot of people here seem to be oblivious of how taxing game development can be.

It is not the high-paying dream job some of you seem to think it is, not even by a long shot. It is really hard work and way more demanding than 'just sitting in front of a computer' for a couple hours a day.

While the documentary is obviously about a AAA game studio indie devs and one man shows are similarly affected. So please cut Dr Sin some slack, I'm sure he already has a really hard time right now.

This might be true, but does it add anything to the story? If not, it is useless and should not be added.

This is how management or production (car production for example) works.
He, animated a scene where a car drives through the night, and exactly that happens in the game as well, when the MC drives home, so why don't use the scene you already did.

Which is why he should have hired a programmer, or stuck with ren'py, he's in over his head with unity and it shows. If he was/is going to struggle this much with unity he should hire someone who knows what they're doing to help out or take over the programming, at least until Lewdlab himself is proficient.

Why doesn't it says "animated" in the genre of this game, even though it clearly is?
That would be stupid wouldn't you think? It's like saying a certain movie the genre is cars or Halo(game) the genre is animated. Maybe it should be tagged with animated, but animated is not a genre on its own. Sorry if I sound like an ass.

I agree completely. Unity is a very powerful engine and capable of doing things Ren'Py could not achieve but you need experience to pull it off.
So far nothing we have seen of this game wouldn't haven been possible with Ren'Py, so as it stands today the engine switch wasn't worth the delays at all.
It may change in the future of course.

With the possible exception of an FPS, I don't agree with this. Ren'Py is backed by Python, which is very powerful. And you could probably even do an FPS with an acceptable framerate if you implemented some of it as compiled Python modules. But Unity would probably be better at that. For anything a VN needs, I think Ren'Py is better.

This we agree on.

I don't know much about Unity and Ren'py, and what one can do that the other can't. But looking at games like Milfy City, Love and Submission, Summertime Saga, FILF, etc., I can't even think of anything that he could be trying to do that he wouldn't have been able to do in Ren'py. Those Ren'py games seem like they can do everything we've seen from other Unity games on here.

I'm not sure if you're completely new to this forum, but if you're looking at the overview of a game, there is a sektion called "genre" where you can see assets, the game offers, and for games with animated scenes in most cases, "animated" is among them. My question was, why this game is an exception.

No I am not. I never really looked at the genre thing, though I know it is there at the front page. I guess it should belong there if this forum considers everything that's underneath the genre spoiler a genre.

I guess I am wrong, I was thinking of more (video)game genres instead of porn genres.

Lewdlab - Dr SinAujourd'hui à 23:07

It will be out soon. Although I have to say I’m disappointed in what the coders have done.

Lewdlab - Dr SinAujourd'hui à 23:18

I will have to spend the next 1 hour writing up a walkthrough for you guys because they couldn't get the objective system implemented in time

this is just one thing

but I have a bit of an announcement to make along with the release

you'll see soon enough I guess

Wise dev, preparing us for disappointment.

they couldn't get the objective system implemented
Blame game initiated. Imagine a ceo blaming his employees, about to release an untested product. Bad leadership when you pass the buck without taking responsibility.

announcement to make along with the release
Bets on the announcement being about no more release ETAs. Will likely contain an excuse he's already used, amplified.
Maybe some additional news about new coders being hired and how long that will take.
