Criticism itself is not bad, it allows you to improve quality of certain things, but only if you point the author to specific errors so that he can correct them, and not when you just complain about what you do not like and at the same time even without delving into the essence.
Let's hope the dev proves the critics wrong. Think its best if we leave further criticism till after the update. For now, there's a few reviews that outline some issues with the game.

My point earlier was mainly about the delays and how the dev could have avoided them by perhaps spending some of that money on expanding his team. He's one of the handful of devs that can afford a larger team and still have a ton of money left for himself.

Whats the release date !!!!
Never said on the 8th.
But this forum is all about false info.

I said this week, and I’m trying for Thursday. So get your facts straight before you start bitching and confuse actual patrons who visit this forum.

You’ll know when it’s out when it’s posted from now on, and that’s that.
Chill out with the hysteria over the release date/time. Any more trolling or baiting posts will be deleted without explanation. Same for meme posts, asking for the release, and even those posts asking when it's released will be deleted. This thread is starting to go off the rails and turn into a cesspool over a release time frame. It stops now.
If you had taken your time reading 1 page behind!

That's a difficult Question to answer. The book "The mythical Man Month" published back in 1975 found that in Software Projects very often adding more People when it's late makes it even later. That's due to the fact that you Need to get the additional People up to Speed and that you incur coordination Overhead. Those findings have been confirmed time and again until today. Once you're late there is often quite Little you can do short time to Change it. Medium term is what you Need to concentrate on.

Going by my experience in Software development (around 15 years) I also can see how switching to a new technological Basis (going to Unity from RenPy) can throw a wrench into an otherwise well oiled machine. Stuff comes up that you did not anticipate (and that's just Talking about technical issues here). Hopefully the capabilities of the new technology will make that change worthwhile in the end.

Given that quite Little Information on what's actually Happening is available I don't want to make any claims on what's the case. I just wanted to add a Little perspective from a Software developer on some of the ideas presented.

Talking of the game itself. There's quite Little to see yet. I thoroughly enjoyed playing DoD however and am curious to see where the Dev will take us next. Fingers crossed that after some difficulty getting of the Ground he'll deliver another "inspiring" ;) Story.

Good points. Not much can help the current release, I agree.

But if he sees this as a longer term project lasting a year or more with monthly releases, the training overhead may be worth it for the next cycle, now that he's got a good estimate of the complexity.

I've started to see a trend among game creators. They always come with apologies, either they are all depressed or someone they know is deadly ill. In an attempt to justify delays or poor results. Also, imagine being ahead of schedule for once, all these last second releases is starting to piss me off. I get the feeling they aren't always being honest with me.

I believe they call that paranoia, you should really see someone about that.

What to do with his money, the author decides for himself, after all it's his money and not yours, you could make such suggestions if some of this money were yours if you were a patron for example, but you are like me pirate of the internet ocean as far as I can see.

Regarding why he doesn't hire people to his team, I do not know him personally so I can not judge it, as most likely you, you do not know what his life situation is, maybe he has very good reasons not to hire more people, for example, payment of loans or something else like that.

I am not saying that it is necessary to allow that the author of this or other game would not fulfill his obligations which he imposes on himself when taking someone else's money, you just need to take into account that they are people too and they may also have difficulties.

He's just speaking facts... everyone's thinking it, nobody's saying it. At this point they're just milking their patrons by giving false hope with BS release dates. I've seen this on various games already.

if u or any other think this dev is a liar or a non profesional dev, be my guest but u have no idea just how fucking wrong you are .
Anyone that come bitching here should be either new or hit in the brain to think he is bs his patreons or milking them....
(also take into note that fucking unity is a piece of garbage and sometimes it messes games if u are new in coding unity...)
