to me the disappointment is that there are so many characters and lack of sexual content. I can accept that the big three Ruby, Isabel, and Joyce are going to have long progressions. Thats the main draw and story line for most. I think that there are other characters that should have quicker progressions.

I think that most players are just really annoyed with so many characters that have very little progression. This also doesnt fit the story setting for Midnight Paradise. The MC is young 20 something male who has had sexual encounters. This isnt some high school kid looking for his first lay. The progression is a bit off for the non essential characters.

I do worry that in the future all this content is going to come all at once because the progressions are all so long. I assume the dev will have a harder time developing so many scenes for these story lines that feel genuine and natural. Some will fall flat and feel forced.

Fortunately, there is still a lot of time for change of pace here. Come on Lewd we just want a bit of side piece action! lol

I think a balance is good. If there was already sex with the main girls in the first few updates it would get boring but waiting so long just becomes frustrating. I mean at least the MC should have fucked some side girls imho. This doesn't really fit the vibe of the first update where he was supposed to be this "Chad" fucking random girls.

Like Being a Dik is a more story focused game than this but the MC still fucks lots of girls in every update. There is no excuse here anymore

Little to no sex is only part of the problem. I personally don't even care about the sex in this game, I downloaded it because I wanted to know what great story and lore Lewdlab had come up with after Dreams of Desire.

Problem is that even the story is not that good, or maybe it is and it's the storytelling/pacing that's not allowing it to flourish.

If only Lewdlab had just scratched the idea of RPG and went to normal VN at the same time that he ditched Unity, then the pacing issue most likely would've been fixed.

That 'return the favor' scene was not great, however in this update I got to say the scene with Eliana felt extremely off.
Why would you meet her in your warehouse, kiss without any groping etc. and then suddenly she sends you nudes?

I also don't understand the RPG style of the game, I am literally only looking at the walkthrough mod all the time and don't see any benefits in comparison to a normal VN.

I get that you cannot "force" sex with relatives, but there are other chars (like the professor, the maid, Tanya, Natsuko) that the sex progression could be much more real. It is a wasted oportunity.

And about the story; I love a good story and I can even enjoy it more than the sex (i.e. Acting Lessons), but the thing is that in here nothing is actually happening. I would not mind just a couple more renders and lots and lots of texts with some story progression/plot twists/dialogs to develop the characters, so you can understand what is going on through their minds.

Nevertheless I really dig MP art style (best I have seen so far), so I will stick until the end.

You highlighted two major issues. This game tries to be something it's not, and does it in bad way.
Such game doesn't need an elaborate story. Foundation of story is already laid. MC got in trouble, now he has to get out, and while saving his ass, he needs to bed all the girls while roaming through locations. Of course, you can make sophisticated story into this, but game like this doesn't need a strong story in order to be good. Focus is at solving series of quests, this is not a novel.
Second thing, it's my impression that author and his patrons think "Stairway to Heaven" is powerful story telling mechanism... which is not. Like you pointed, it makes this game boring.

Ps, I am not trying to compare Lewdlab with anybody else, his previous game was good, and I still think this one could be redeemed, but change of approach is necessary. I only pointed out that Milfy City (go and fuck all sandbox) or COBD (visual novel with branching), are not boring to play.
On the side note, if you watch movie from online streams or torrent site, it doesn't mean you can't offer your observations.

The shame is that DoD was a very nice game and much better paced than this one.
Did it have the best writing of all? Definitely not, but it had an interesting story that moved the game forward. You were there for the sexy scenes, but it was fun to read about the mystery surrounding then spell, and more often than not the game even made you laugh.
In MP all you feel like doing is skip the dialogues and see if you're lucky and get a scene with your fave LI (in my case the older sister, as usual.) You get pushed from one hint to another without any ability to make decisions other than choosing the ex-gf or the friend. And then, the sexual progression is unbearably clichéd as you pointed out.
