You always need to have corn growing.
Buy it in the shop and plant it in the garden, it takes 5 days to grow, but if you don't do that then you'll never have enough. Even if you do it you'll still not get enough cash off of 1 lot grown for somethings like visiting the art gallery. every time you harvest, get some more seeds and plant them again.
thats where your $15 for cleaning the room should go, $5 on getting to the shop and $10 on seeds.

cant buy corn if there is no money for taxi + after dad scene going to gym is the last part of this build so there is no need for getting extra money.
