You should dowload a new version of the game, and then copy the last saved state from the previous one.
So I'm going to copy the file saved in the previous version to the folder in the newly downloaded version? You mean the "saved" file?

Yes. You can even copy the whole "save" directory from the older version of the game to the new one.

The game isn't saved in the registry, that person is incorrect. When you make a save it does save in two locations though. So copying over your save files or folder is unnecessary.
When you save the game, it's saved in the actual game folder, and then it's also saved in the following directory -
C:\Users\your username\AppData\Roaming\RenPy
Every RenPy game gets a save folder created in that directory the moment you start up the game.

Don't worry about the progress tracker either. It's not updated frequently or as tasks get completed like other devs do. I mean, the shit could jump up to 90% or something next week. We don't know.

I'm pretty curious about his project management process. I know Summertime Saga has actual progress bars for art, writing, code, etc. and definite numbers for each of them (like 23/42 or whatever), but I don't know if ICSTOR does a similar thing, even if it is just internal and he doesn't share it with his patrons.

Well, It's bin a year already since the last update and he has 6k patreons. Not sure why but after he got more patreons he went lazy.
