So anyone did anything productive during the last 9 months since the last update?

I took a shower.
Got sucked into a random portal in my living room. Arrived in the year 10 Billion. Accidentally cuckolded the Emperor of Everything with all 47 of his wives, at once. Made a daring escape from the prison planet to which I was exiled. Gathered allies. Led a rebellion into a planet-shattering civil war spanning all of time and space. Forged a pair of magic gauntlets out of the supermassive black hole at the center of the galaxy. Challenged the Emperor to a boxing match to decide it all. Made ten quintillion stars supernova simultaneously with each blow. Stood over the Emperor's corpse, victorious. Went to go kiss my new wives.

Woke up on my couch. Realized I'd had waaaay too much cough syrup the night before.

Yes: The plan is that every girl's route splits into two once you hit 5/5. For Linda, that'll be whether Bob knows or not.
Ah ok, i didn't know this thing… but what will happen if Bob knows of the relationship between MC and Linda?
The consequences of this choice are already known?

Bob is like salt...Its Existence in every Food is vital and yet it somehow doesnt get acknowledged so if you ask me all he can do is sit and watch as MC makes love to Linda and accept this as his fate. ;)

You are arguing based on a faulty premise. That being Mr. Dots or some random guy makes images as nice as ICSTOR. Don't get me wrong, I love DMD, but no way Mr. Dots' images have the quality that ICSTOR's have. Look closely at some of Mr. Dots' images, and you'll see things like clothing clipping, feet hovering, etc.

I'm not an image expert, but I know quality when I see it. Quality takes time. And if you don't believe me, I bet artists like stoper , RomanHume and Philly_Games would agree. Suggesting that he change his workflow to go faster (and lose the quality that he needs* to make) is way out in left field.

* My opinion, based on my interpretation of his work and writing.
Artists named above picked because they focus on image quality and are active on these forums. And I know I've read rants** by each of them on quality!

** "rants" is a joke! Chill out guys! :p
Why do you gotta go dragging me into these things! I'm trying to work over here!

In all seriousness though, being used as an exemplar of visual quality is a bit of an honor and I thank you for that.

I love DMD and I love the work that Dots has put into Melody, but his art is what I like to refer to as "out of the box". Very few (if any) custom poses, materials or lights. And there appears to be zero effort in trying to correct the rampant clipping, hovering and sometimes cringe worthy facial expressions.

Icstor's work is exceptionally detailed and his lighting is fantastic! His animations have no equal that I've seen yet. In fact I've cut animations from my game altogether until I can achieve a similar quality.

To that end, animating in Daz is complete and utter ass. I can't even begin to estimate how much time it requires for him to do a single animation, but knowing how long it takes to do a single frame, it's gotta be substantial.

The only developer I've been a patron of longer than Icstor is in fact Mr. Dots. But that's only because DMD was one of the first games I had ever played that I was like, "WOW, That's great shit!". I've been supporting both of those developers for over a year and have never once felt cheated, lied to or disappointed. In fact even though I harp on Mr. Dot's art, I'm infinitely grateful he found a way to continue his game after the "Great Patreon Shit Storm of '08". He could have shit canned it and moved on to a new project like a lot of devs did and he didn't, and for that I'll always have mad respect.

However, having become a developer myself, I'm ultra appreciative of the efforts of other developers and these days I'm doubly understanding of their delays.

It'll get here when it gets here, and I have every reason to believe that when it does, it'll be fucking great!

And ICSTOR has those things too if you pay attention enough. Even things like colour changing of certain things that shouldn't. Watch a sex scene, don't look at the the focused point, you will see clipping between the models. Assets like squish could solve that, but he doesn't seem to use it. Secret gallery image 6 is an example of sloppy work. Tons of clipping with only 2 pieces of clothing. Max hooking up with his aunt in the bath tub. Her ring isn't on her finger. The scene where he fucks his aunts wife, you can see clear clipping with his junk and her pussy. To the point that he puts more detail into the mom-son scenes that this is noticeable. I'm nit picking on purpose, but that's the point. Don't raise him up to such a height. Especially if you give him money. Then you should be holding him accountable. This is his full time job and he should be putting full time hours in.

Bob is the Djinghis Khan of our age. He rules over everything he surveys, with an iron fist in a velvet glove.

And every child in Milfy City is in fact his.

But to his regret, he has never yet perfected the art of whores-riding.

The absolute worst thing about Patreon is that it makes everyone who gives an artist a dollar each month (and also a lot of people who don't even do that much) think that they're The Boss, sitting with their feet on their desk while their art-slaves toil away for them in their sweatshop below.

ICSTOR is not your employee. If you don't like his product, don't pay for it. If you think it's taking too long, find some other game to play in the meantime. Coming here and bitching because you can't fire him for not working hard enough accomplishes nothing except to annoy us. ICSTOR doesn't even post here so he'll never even see any of your complaints.

I'm just going to disagree with this. When I became his Patron there was never any kind of employment contract or agreement that my contribution entitled me to x-hours of work from him every day/month/year. And for all I know he is putting in 40 hours a week. I have no clue. But regardless, it wasn't a condition of my patronage.

What I was promised (and have received) is what was described to me in the little box that tells me what I get for being a patron.

It doesn't promise me x-number of releases in a year. Or even specify the period between those releases. For my contribution I am entitled to:

Level - 2
$15 or more per month
  • Access to the Patreon feed, with regular updates about the upcoming version!
  • My gratitude!
  • Access to an exclusive discord channel
  • Access to each game update previously tested by beta-testers.
  • Access to questionnaires concerning plot and game mechanics; you will be able to decide what direction the game should follow.

Nothing more, nothing less. This is what was promised and it's what has been delivered. He doesn't owe me anything beyond that.

And as someone who is giving him money, I don't need someone else looking over my shoulder and telling me I should be concerned with the quality of my investment. Especially from people who aren't buying stock in anything.

If his style is so difficult and such a time consuming system, why doesn't he change it, and why do others have the ability to release renders that are just as good at a quicker pace? Yeah, he took time off, but that doesn't account for that short amount of a release between this and the last update. From 21-22 in Dating my Daughter there was 1700 new renders. I don't think it took him 11 months to do that. My guess is about 2. And he uses the same engine and same engine assets for the logic and code.

3 pascal still won't be as good as 1 Cuda. Daz can offload to Cuda core systems and only cuda core systems. That's why my buddies 1440p render took a minute and thirty seconds. You can argue that "it's a generic image" but try it out then. On my own apartment, Cailin model, Casual summer cut shorts. Try out a 1440p image and stop it after a minute and 30 seconds.

I don't use discord and won't offer my services since I am doing my own thing. Also, as I said, my GPU is trash, so I would be a detriment to anyone else who already has a system for rendering.
That hole you're in is of your own making, I'm afraid.

For example, Pascal is an architecture - it supports CUDA cards by NVidia. ICSTOR's 1080 Ti cards? Pascal architecture-based, like mine. My cards have 12GB RAM, his have 11GB each. There is better standard cooling with the 1080 Ti cards. Otherwise, they are pretty close from a performance standpoint, though his cards can be overclocked more reliably (unless you use better cooling solutions for the Titan X (Pascal) series.)

So, as I've said before in more words than now: you know some basics, but not enough to make sense of your original argument - or, your new ones above - about how much time it should take ICSTOR from setup to final render of his scenes. I've addressed each of your points and the hardware one is the least important, but even on that you are unfortunately in need of more information.

Keep practicing and learning and maybe create your own game someday? It's a wide open field.

Hey, let's note that *I* decided to not drag you into this topic because I know how busy you are (because RomanHume is also a great example of a communicative game Dev and I know he's busy), unlike some people *cough* goobdoob *cough* :)

One thing to note about MrDots' style is his project management: that team is a machine and super-reliable. Every single month another installment makes it out the door, almost always the same level of story and art production quality as the month before. They are extremely consistent and still entertaining, which is why I am also a supporter of that group.

I support you because your ideas and matching output are more unique and still entertaining, but I'm not clamoring for a certain amount of output, especially given your team's change in makeup the past half year or so. From your past performance, I know it will arrive.

But, yes: anyone saying that ICSTOR's level of care on things such as animations can be done via canned animation packages and easily tweaked just hasn't produced the same level of quality, themselves, IMHO.

Maybe you are seeing the posted-but-didn't-visually-show-you-posted issue some of us have been experiencing in this Topic (and others, by reports). It can lead you to keep clicking the "Post Reply" button, thinking that the prior click had no effect.
