Oh, might take this opportunity to replay it. How early are cheats available? One of the things I think messed with the game was grinding for Legendary grade stuff, raised your level enough that things became too easy and grinding wasn't fun so I'll just give them to myself whenever I get a new weapon. I can take the opportunity to try and beat those fights you're supposed to lose too.

Also, just because I don't know if there will ever be a chance to fix some of these issues, the Legendary version of the Wolf Tamer staff and Molly's Buckler still have severe bugs. Wolf Tamer not decreasing target rate but hit rate for Ray instead, lowering her accuracy. And Molly's Buckler simply doesn't give any of the effects listed except for the +12% to all stats, meaning the Full-Party-Buff and Full-Troop-Debuff skills are completely unobtainable, and it also lists that enemies can receive +3 debuffs above the cap, and allies can receive 3 extra stacks of buffs above the cap, but neither of those are true also.

It wouldn't be as much of a bother if either the items were fixed, or even if the misleading parts of their descriptions were changed, but it's gonna be more noticeable, particularly with Molly's Buckler, since there's gonna be an influx of people playing/replaying the game, and have one of the ultimate/penultimate rewards not have the core functions it has listed work as intended is gonna be more on the forefront.

Also I am confused why the buckler's additional buffs don't even seem to work since the Team Captain armor basically does the same thing, but it actually applies properly.

How do I open the Silver Chest in the Basement? I'm assuming it's related to the bookshelf hint of 0451, but that's as far as I've gotten if it is.

I don't know who is in charge of tags, but could this thread be updated to include the 'ai cg' tag? I filter it out in my searches and was disappointed to see ai art crop up as soon as I started playing.
Thanks for the feedback. That’s not how the “ai cg” tag works. It’s meant for games that primarily use AI-generated character art or CGs, not projects where background elements were assisted with AI tools.

It’s a bit frustrating to see the assumption, because this game contains hundreds of hours of hand-drawn, original artwork. Real work by real artists. Suggesting the whole thing should be tagged as “ai cg” because of backgrounds (of all 160 tuned myself) dismisses that effort.

I’m also someone who prefers to filter out heavy AI-generated projects, so I understand the concern. If even light background assistance qualifies for the tag, it ends up hurting artists more than helping anyone’s 'filters.'

what the hell is with the AI backgrounds?
The backgrounds in this game were always generated by AI. They just looked so bad back in 2023, that people couldn't really tell?

Trust me, I really did try everything I could to avoid using AI-assisted backgrounds. I spent ages looking for alternatives: stock photos, asset packs, anything that could fit my game’s tone. But the reality is that a huge amount of stock art these days is quietly AI-generated anyway, sometimes even falsely marketed as real. And ironically, even when I used backgrounds that weren’t AI-generated, I still got accused of using AI.

At a certain point I just thought fine, screw it. It’s not like the backgrounds are replacing any hand-drawn CGs, or anyone's work. The backgrounds are just a way to avoid leaving players with flat colour washes, abstract smears, or blurry photos that break immersion.

And honestly? Most players seem to appreciate it. I’ve run polls, and the feedback has been that people would rather have an actual location backdrop, than a blurry gradient. And for a solo developer, it solves a massive problem that would either cost $10,000+ and months of dev time. I've had people suggest that I just pay someone for the background art, but I literally wouldn't be able to afford that. This game could not exist as it does without taking advantage of this tool.
I know it annoys some people who hate AI on principle, and I get where that comes from. I'm happy to continue rethinking this and finding a better solution. By all means, give me a suggestion. But like I already said, Monster Girl 1,000's background have been AI for over three years now.

The game actually has less AI content now. Half the entire point of the 2.0 update was to remove every single AI-generated character from the game. I spent two full weeks hand-drawing new art for Tamamo, Ulti, Erika, Mammon’s scene, Blackjack’s scene, Rosaria’s scene, and every remaining AI-generated NPC portrait was replaced with a silhouette.

I thought it'd be cool to fix the mistakes i made back in 2023 when AI just seemed like a new, cool thing back then. So it’s fucking frustrating to see people acting like the game has suddenly “turned into” AI content when I'm literally fixing it.

I see, my personal line for AI tolerance is lower than the average user. It's something I have moral objections to, and the backgrounds being majorly AI generated (I specifically stopped playing today at the Blacksmith's when the background looked generated and the layout didn't make logical sense, a hallmark of AI generation) really turned me off from the game. I don't believe that your game should be removed or anything close to that, it's just become more and more annoying to try to avoid AI content as its use has become more and more normalized. I sympathize with the issues that you've brought up and I don't think there is an easy answer, but on a personal level I would rather play no game than one that uses AI generated content (from your polls it sounds like I'm in the minority on this).

As for people suddenly crying out about the game being AI generated, I believe I've played sections of this game on previous releases (likely 6-12 months ago at the most recent) and I don't remember having any problems with it. I'm not sure if it's that AI outputs have settled into a more consistent 'feel' that's easier to detect, or if my personal tolerance for AI content has decreased, a combination of the two, or other factors entirely. I do appreciate you taking the time to actually talk about my concerns, and wish you the best in this and future projects.

It's mainly a loud minority. Most people don't really mind even "true AI CG" games, I think mainly people just see the difference in style between the backgrounds and the characters, and since the backgrounds are AI, they kind of overblow their complaints by treating the game like "This game is full of nothing but AI Slop". When in reality, it's a fairly decent balance between doing what you can as a solo dev, and cutting the corners that would otherwise be a barrier to entry that would either cost a lot of time or money to get past.

Would the ideal potentially be to have everything "hand made" from scratch? Probably, but that's just not how things work, especially not when one of the biggest appeals to you and your work, is how efficient and timely your workflow is, you know exactly how to put the best into each of the most important aspects of the game you're working on at the time, and by using things like AI to deal with the "less important details", you can focus on making a better product with less time, resources, etc.

It's similar to how animation studios may "cheap out" by recycling animation, using pre-made assets, or taking shortcuts for drawing backgrounds.

But ultimately, the complaints are still in the minority, if they weren't, or if you were using "low quality AI" for everything, you wouldn't have 6 4/5 star games in a row.

Yes, you are limited in what you can do, but you demonstrate over and over again that you have a solid understanding of good design and how to make good art as a whole, it's not just about the individual pieces, but the composition.

Would your games be better if they were entirely made by you with no AI gen at all for those less important details? Probably, but your workflow would be slower, and also sometimes the style you're trying to go for in terms of the world is different than the vibe of your normal art style-

All this to say, you're doing the best you can, and it shows, but frankly, the people that randomly comment and say things like "This is clearly AI slop" are the same people that would comment and say things like "It's shit" with no further elaboration or reasoning, because, that's just how it is, people will always complain, and ultimately, it doesn't really matter they blame it on AI or not, some people just want something to complain about and you happen to be their choice on some days.

Personally I'm not here to debate the ethics of AI generation and such, since it is a very loaded topic, but I would much prefer it be used in moderation and as responsibly as possible by solo devs who are already stretched thin enough like TS, than massive billion dollar corporations that outright use AI in the worst ways possible, just to fire and replace people. In my eyes, things like TS' work is one of the silver linings to come out of it's popularization.

The milk has already been spilt, but at least we can make some cheese out of it. :coffee:

Monster Girl 1,000 - v2.0 Release:
View attachment 5462681

Returning to Monster Girl 1,000 for a surprise update! 2.0 aims to make improvements across the game, particularly towards the end. Featuring new character models for key characters, like Ulti, Erika and Tamamo.

There's a new room in Mistral Village, in the same area with the Contracts Board, you can now go into the basement, and see all the pictures of Bessie, Ray and others (tot. 15) that have been drawn since the release of the game.

My next game will be set in the same universe!

Changelog:
2.0:
Major:

  • New Content: The Basement in Mistral Village can now be accessed. All new content is available there.
  • 15 New CG can be purchased from the Basement
  • New Mistral Village Contract: available once "The Ultimate" has been completed in No Man's Land. Suggested level 100.
  • New Models: Erika, Necromancer, Tamamo, Ulti, and Xion
  • New Art: Blackjack Aftersex, Mammon Sex, Rosaria Aftersex.
  • Sihouettes: Characters listed as 'NPC' in the files have been replaced by silhouettes.
  • The Following CG have been updated: Fiend2, Hannah Helz 1, 2, and 3. Monsters 1, Monsters 2.
  • 160 Backgrounds have been updated.
Minor:
  • Finale Rewrites:
    - Parts that do not feature Dante's POV have been condensed (The finale was already surprisingly densely written, but I tried to condense some parts)
    - The party perform better against Juggernaut. (The main party in-general are written to be more impressive)
    - Swiftstroke no longer fights Deathclaw or L'ightning (Upon revisiting, I realized it made more sense for Swiftstroke and Deathclaw to talk things out, and these fights weren't great. Swiftstroke and L now have a conversation, before choosing to team up against Slime God)
    - Beatrice, Tysus, Climatica and Cleo have been removed (having even more characters in the finale just dragged out the pacing)
  • Nerfed some endgame fights: Swiftstroke, Sun God Yamato, The Grand Magus, Life Titan, Juggernaut Illusion, Francesca (Grand Magus and Life Titan were bugged, causing them to scale with your level by near-exponential amounts. This has been fixed.)
Misc:
  • Fixed Historia incorrectly appearing pregnant in the Training Arena
  • When advancing the story after Little Shroom City, it now correctly advances whether you select "Home" or "World Map"
  • Character Viewer: Fixed Cheeki and Breeki Pregnant
  • Dobbi's pregnancy lines now correctly disappear when not pregnant
  • Updated some Post-Story dialogue to keep up with the times
  • Fixed to Elysian Colosseum events for players that used episode select
  • Fixed Tamamo Butt scene in the gallery being visible early. Now requires story completion.
  • Fixed Xion's Snow Storm having a lightning sprite
  • Fixed Achievements not unlocking during the 'Outlaw' portion of the game
  • Plenty of Typo Fixes

Regarding the Android version: OP only has the Windows and Mac versions right now, but someone did manage to make an .apk, I'm just waiting for them to send it to me.
TwistedScarlet Did you include the face sitting scene with Ray we spoke of last time? :)
Ohh and i allready looking forward for Monster Girl Tavern <3 if you need help let me know!
Kind regards of the Netherlands!

your art has always been incredible, great character work!! the old novelty of AI has certainly been replaced by much larger ethical concerns (that are better held not on a porn game thread).

as for the BGs, I guess I never noticed (maybe with the blurs)? personally, i thought you went off the deep end or something as the new BGs were a little jarring. I can understand how it would be basically impossible to create SO many backgrounds as a solo dev, and I am certainly not going to "well akshually" you for that reason. There's no easy solution and that's a position I do not envy.

more or less, glad to hear that AI content is being removed especially for these characters.
