Thank you for providing a perfect example of an irrational knee-jerk white knight. I didn't say I didn't like the game anywhere, and I didn't say that being text heavy was a bad thing. I've been a backer of the game on SubStar for ages in fact. But you are acting like it is a personal affront to you that someone accurately describes the game as being text based.

Angel's response was garbage but so it yours, it just isn't it.

For a long time, there were no CGs at all and many of the girls didn't even have sprites. I say again, the fact that anyone tries to deny that the game is heavily slanted towards text is insane.

A presence of Cg doesn't mean decreased amounts of text. All the cgs in mgd were just added onto pre existing scenes which remained the same length, they're visuals you're meanto to enjoy, but thresh or val aren't using them to crub text length so even if the game had more images it won't have less text.
Visuals obviously can be used to reduce text and improve pacing, but that's up to the writer themselves, it's not an absolute law.
Your reaction is also quite strange, im not quite sure what you think we're "defending" aside from angel being slightly riled up.

I don't think anyone actually would give a fuck.

Which is simply not true at all. The only games that are more text heavy are text only games, and those are almost exclusively HTML games, Renpy games tend to be the most picture heavy because of the way the engine is designed.

You're making the claim for the sake of making it. I'm saying this as a guy who would beg for an opprotunity to shit on this game but i genuinely see no point to get worked up over. The general vibe im getting is you're implying the amount of text in mgd is too much and a bad thing, since you wouldn't say we're white knighting for being confused about someone wishing for less text which was a claim/complaing that's not made often.


Yeah it's a text based game, no shit, it's a renpy game, a visual novel engine, no shit it's text based.

but it's just as silly to try and pretend that this game doesn't have a lot of it.

Because it doesn't, the reason i made my claim is because compared to renpy's original intentions mgd has some gameplay elements. If, as you said, took any vn, and lets say played both mgd and a vn for 10 hours, you will spent 10 hours reading a vn, but you wont spend 10 hours reading mgd, some of it will be grinding, or trying to beat a certain enemy, all in all, for the play time you spend you will read far less than a vn of the same length, mgd's honestly lacking story is supplemented by its gameplay, repeatability of interactions, and gameplay elements.
And in total i say mgd is about 20 hours give or take in play time, if you took a vn of the same length the total amount of words wil be less.

It's not something to be upset over, which at bet 1 person did for some reason, nor is mgd comparatively to any vn with gameplay elements isn't the worst satan of all which requires you to *wretch* read

It just seems like you are looking for reason to start an argument. Which considering the recent pages in this thread isn't exactly surprising (not you specifically, just so you don't jump to more conclusions to get riled up about).

I wouldn't say I'm riled up (not by this specifically, I think this is a symptom of a larger problem best discussed in a more serious forum), just kinda SMH. But I historically have had issues getting my tenor across in text.

Most eroge have way more images AND way more gameplay.

MGQ has many more images.
Karryn's Prison has more images.
Circle Teckua games have more images. All of them.
Ason games have more images.
ROBF series have more images.
The World A Robot Girl Dreams of series have more images.
And I can go on and on...

And not to rag on MGDs gameplay complexity, but most of those other games either match or surpass MGDs in gameplay complexity.

The other guy is stupid too, but thinking that a game with more of a focus on visuals is just an h-anime is a ludicrous take.

I know it was not your intention, but I ended up searching for those devs and liked some games, thanks for the unintentional recommendation : D

The Analyze spell, obtained from Elly is what you are looking for.

"Effect: Analyzes your target, allowing you to see their current Arousal, Spirit, stats, fetishes and vulnerabilities."

Arousal (and Spirit) is the equivalent of the health stat in the game.

I mean, sure, there is no set schedule. However, Thresh has maintained that he likes to put out consistent monthly updates. That said, it's only 3 days overdue, so it's not unreasonable to give him a couple more days before we raise the alarm.

The casino is definitely not the next update.
Livewire allyway encounter is planned for next update tho.

I miss the days when the devs were actually pumping out content every week.

Or, I should say, nothing in what Threshold has put to paper has presented any indication that Venefica or Perpetua are going to be there during the final boss fight. I'm probably beating the deadest horse at this point, but Monster Girl Quest hinted at significant story developments that eventually paid off.

There isn't a roadmap or spreadsheet to explain how all the dots connect. And yes, I do find it difficult to take that at face value, but at least Threshold is being communicative and is pretty willing to receive everyone's frustrations in text.

I did put a chart a few days after this was posted on the patreon/substar, unno if that was noticed/acquired and shared on here or not, will see as I progress through the pages since I last checked in.

I remember a few years back you said that the capital would have more true monster girls. Is that still the plan or have you backed off from that?

Very delayed response (and you may have figured it out or gotten an answer already)
If you have any controllers plugged into your system unplug them and it should fix it.
The issue should be fixed when the next patch comes out.

Ye as I talked about in discord and in status reports on patreon/substar 2ish weeks of family time happened in Nov so I chose to push back the update to December when it's ready, with the stuff that did get completed in Nov. Including Ancilla cuddle CG.

and ye generally I prefer to do monthly game updates if possible.

Perpetua is clearly our version of Joey Wheeler. She wins against the fodder and gets rofl'd against important characters. You can't tell me any different.
Venefica has implications, but I'd much quicker believe Sofia was the queen all along.

You should know better than to assume anyone from here is on your discord, let alone that discord peeps will quote you from there. I mean, someone might have, but most generally wouldn't. I probably would and then ask you about doing so afterwards. Kind of how our relationship has worked thus far.

The point is that Perpetua doesn't feel like a relevant character, she never did, she's a living gag who yes, was there 'from the beginning' but we hardly learnt anything from it.
Even as the capital happened the only thing we know is connected to what we learnt from Venefica.
And Venefica literally explains us the existence of an entire new... race? Occupation? God knows what witches are, since they can change their racial characteristics (atleast on Venefica's level).
Whatever plans you have for the future (it's pretty obvious) are unlikely to matter for people if some of us seriously doubt we'll ever reach that future.
