I disagree, MGQ has a lot of memes and even a page on KnowYourMeme. While not everyone has played it, more than just h games players are aware of it.
By H game players, Know your meme isnt some super power entity that being recognized on means something, there is a page of submissions where you can see hundreds of unapproved memes, obscure jokes that never even made it to the mainstream, all it just takes is approval from one of the staff, of which there could be 1 or 2 who are vaguely aware of hora hora or touch fluffy tail, but on its own it is it didnt catch strong winds.
The closesst to the main stream mgd has gotten is Ken Ashcrop's song with an impressive 11 million views, even if i were to be generous and say 5 million of those people are real and the rest are rewatches, its just 5 million people, which is a decent size for a fandom, but it's sadly not possible, as the song is 12 years old, the actual number is a few hundrend thousand of fans at best accumulating over years and perhaps recommendations could've roped in a few ten thousands or so
Funny, since a GTA player might know it as the eroge that nearly took second in 2013 over GTA V as Kotaku's Game of the Year.
And GTA is overhyped.
Don't really care what you opinion on gta is, i can agree that it's overhyped in some aspects, but it is a generational game that's respected by many, people were willing to play online for a decade despite complaining about it, that provesss something
Anyways, i was surprised that it was real, however, there's big issues
1. It's a game award : They are NEVER ssynonymous with actual game popularity, most of them now are chosen by shtty judgess who are paid top dollar to pick what the producers want and the fan votes are just thrown into the trash, so honesstly would be willing to say that someone at Kotaku pushed the game up, though this alone isnt conclusive andi have no evidence, so ill tell you thiss
2. Kotaku is a small fish: Kotaku as of now gets about 10 million visits in the past month, a very impresssive number, but comparing it to its competitos who practically triple and centuple the number? (like gamestop and ign) it's not as impressive.
And this is only by today's metric, so imagine how much lower it could be back then, and we can actually, in their post that i found

mgq they mentioned 'thoussands voted' if we use that we can kind of get the picture of their numbers, taking a portion of that is the mgq fans. The likely numbers of people who could've been exposed to that article at that time were at best tens of thousandss, which is a lower metric than what i used by estimation of Ken Ashcorp's song, which i already explained isn't main stream levels of popular.
anyways that's it, not sure what you all are trying to prove, it's way better for everyone that this game doesnt get popular because normiess arent quite open to the degeneracy that exists in the game, altough part 3 is definitely gonna make it explode, this is its only chance
I said what i can on the topic, it has no other discusssion value, if you (likely) still dissagree you can
